Skerrit said Registe has done tremendous work for Dominica

Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit has announced that General Secretary of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP), Senator Edward Registe, is government’s nominee for Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly.

He made that announcement during an interview with state-owned DBS Radio on Monday night.

“It is the government’s intention to nominate Senator Edward Registe as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly,” Skerrit said.

The Prime Minister noted that Registe has done enormous work for Dominica and the island’s young people.

“We believe that he is a young man who has demonstrated great skill, knowledge and appreciation and respect for the country,” he said. “Whose popularity really came from the National Youth Council as a vibrant representative of the young people of the country and who has done a tremendous amount of work for young people and the entire nation.”

Skerrit is confident that Registe will bring that same passion to the House of Assembly during debates and when he acts as Speaker.

“He will continue to demonstrate that level of discipline and seriousness to work which he has exhibited over his several years of public service,” the Prime Minister remarked.

It’s ok to nominate but will the PM be in office in February when the house suppose to be in session? Is he planning for an Ambassador? I would be shocked if Skerrit is still be PM come February 2015, when the hose suppose to commence. According to the UWP slogan, “Change is coming.” By February, change will have come and you scholars can take this whichever way you wish.

Congratulations Mr. Registe you have my blessing. One of the most important aspect of the prime minister is that he recognises and understand the characteristics of an individual ability who has demonstrates the ability to make clear decision to under take the challenges that sets before them. I believe Mr Registe is a good choice for that position. It is always my belive that you don’t place people in position because of political reason. You put people in position based on their ability, knowledge, hard work and wisdom including their character traits. I think Mr. Registe has all this quality in him. God bless you Mr. Prime minister and continued to move Dominica foward.

Welcome mr. Registe. I really hope you are less intransigent than the speaker we have, who is stuck in her groove. Stimulate a lively debate even if it is controversial and not necessarily supporting the view of only one party. Thank you.

Some of you believe that Dominica is a play ground or a kindergarten. My people lets think. It is not.. The ruling Government will decide what is good for Dominica. the opposition will oppose, because this is all what they will do.. But the decision of the ruling Government is final.. Try a little peace and harmony and just see how nice things will roll.. Stop looking to make trouble…

I have no confidence that Registe will be different from the present speaker.I always believe in a non partisan speaker. History has shown us over the past 15years that once one finds favour with Skerrit, then he/she has to slavishly do his biddings..

Edward Registe, General Secretary of the DLP and senator will soon become deputy speaker of the house.
Skerrit already has a political hack in the person of Boyds-Knight. Is that not enough?
Even the opposite were to nominated an individual who is totally impartial and unbias we know it would go nowhere because majority rules.
However, I think the opposition should nominate someone as the deputy speaker and maybe, just maybe Skerrit will give Linton this one in good faith because he, Skerrit, has pledged to work for the betterment of our country. YEAH RIGHT!

I can see no problem in him being a government nominee.. The opposition should accept…
And I only hope that Senator Registe bridge the gap for the sake of Dominica…It is I who have spoken..
