Ivor Stephenson in stable condition says Health Minister

Stephenson was airlifted to Martinique

Minister for Health, Dr. Kenneth Darroux, has revealed that the MP for Grand Fond Ivor Stephenson remains in stable condition in a Martinique hospital and his health has not deteriorated.

Stephenson was airlifted to the neighbouring French island on Saturday, May 27th 2017 following his complaints of feeling very unwell. He was first admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital.

According to Darroux, it is “good news” that Stephenson’s health is in a controllable state and therefore urges Dominicans to put aside their differences and focus on praying for his speedy recovery.

“I too would like to implore all Dominicans, both here and abroad, to all, pray. I think for once, in situations like these, let us all forget our differences, political differences, social, economic, whatever the case may be, and let us pray for his full and speedy recovery,” Darroux said.

He also added that Stephenson is a man who has “given a lot to his country,” and so, all Dominicans should make an effort to reach out to him and his family to ensure that their “lives can be much more bearable.”

“I want to assure the residents of his constituency that the government will do all that we can do possibly to ensure that he gets the best chance to full recovery,” Darroux remarked.

Darroux you should be ashamed. Your hospital is not able to care for a man who got a stroke? It’s fortunate for people like you who can afford to fly out of the country but what happens to the thousands of Dominicans who cannot afford to do so? God forbids they ever have to get sick beyond a mild headache.

I fully expect Francine Baron to be part of the Dominica delegation in St. Petersburg. She does know her Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov and had discussions with him at the CELAC meeting in Sochi on 14 Nov. 2016. Ostensibly these discussions entailed future co-operation between Dominica and Russia. I wonder what the nature of such c0-operation might be. After all, here we have an impoverished small island state of barely 70,000 having high-level talks with super-power Russia. Is Roosevelt Skerrit playing off his Chinese friends against the Russians? This could be a very dangerous game for Mr. Skerrit.

All you wicked wicked and the moment one is attacked all you asking people to put differences aside and start to pray? What I praying for? Has he contributed more to Dominica than I? I not wishing anyone bad but let every man bear their own burden. If anything I will pray that God will deal with his heart while in Martinique so when he comes back he can say corruption is wrong and he can no longer associate himself with it

But it’s not fresh news that the PMH is not equipped to handle certain medical cases. That has been the case for many many years. In extreme circumstances persons are airlifted to Martinique, Guadeloupe or Barbados. This is why I’m really hoping that the new hospital will change all this. The government must understand too that it’s not just about the infrastructure and equipment. The human resources factor must also be given priority. We need our nurses to undergo some psych courses, customer service, we need more doctors. Cannot have an emergency room with one doctor. Must have a pediatric emergency section. All who have TB and all kinda sickness in the same room with children. That must change too. I’m really waiting with bated breath to see how this turns out. And for the sake of our people I really hope it makes a difference. I applaud the initiative cause we really need to overhaul our health system. Waiting on the Marigot hospital too.

We are praying for Comrade Ivor. Mr Ivor should chill out from this hectic lifestyle in Dominca politics. Politics is to stressful. Mr Ivor when you get better by God’s grace, go on a vacation. Your life is more important than stress n pressure. How long you on the battle field n Skerritt en make you minister. So brother man quit that politics, live stress free. Free up yourself. Yo much stress. Most illnesses of politicians are a stress related.

I’m glad to hear that Dr. Darroux.
But why is the government or its information service not similarly forthcoming about Roosevelt Skerrit’s presence in Moscow. Since 25 May the Russian news agency TASS reports that our P.M. will be attending the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, taking place from 1-3 June in that city. At this event he is scheduled to meet with, amongst others, Russia’s foreign minister Sergey Lavrov, the man who recently met in a closed session with Donald Trump in Washington.
What is the purpose of this visit, who else will be part o the Dominica delegation. We have a right to know especially since the participation fee alone is U.S.$.7,285.14 per delegate (premium package).
It is no surprise that one of our authorized CBI agents Apex Capital Partners, have an office in Moscow )suite 505 , 25 Leontievsky Lane. Russians are permitted to have a second citizenship but since 2014 must report this to their government.
