During our childhood days a hero was usually a fictional character who wore capes and fought villains in an effort to keep the city and its citizens safe but on April 19th, 2013 Dominica saw its very own hero in the person of Jean-Pierre Joselyn Prince.
Prince is the sole survivor of a tragic accident which occurred on that day in Pont Casse when the vehicle he was traveling in with national footballers Kurt Hector and Norran Jno Hope plunged into a chasm in the main road.
They were on their way to the airport to represent the island in a regional football tournament. Hector and Jno Hope lost their lives on that tragic day.
Today, October 1, 2013 Prince returned to his job at the Roseau Fire Station where he was given a hero’s welcome by his fellow fire officers.
“I would like to give thanks to God for having me here today,” the elated Prince said. “I am so happy to be back at work, happy to see my colleagues again. I want to thank my family for taking so much good care of me at the time and the fire service in general for being there for me. I would also like to thank every Dominican, who supported me while I was ill and I pray that you keep on praying for me because I am not fully recovered as yet.”
Prince, who is from Grand Fond, pointed out that he looked forward to being back at work since it makes him feel much more like himself when he is around his colleagues.
He described his recovery process as slow and according to the young footballer he is currently doing small exercise activities to help his body get back to the point that it needs to be.
He told reporters that receiving medical attention from Trinidad had a great impact on his recovery.
When asked about returning to the football field, Prince, with a big smile across his face, said “yes I love my football, and yes you will be seeing me back on the field very soon!”
Meanwhile, Chief Fire Officer, Josiah Dupuis, pointed out that the fire station was delighted to have Prince back on the job.
“As we acknowledge the return of fireman Prince we also realize the fact that his life was spared but also by his actions,” he said. “Although two lives in the vehicle that he was travelling were taken, certainly by his actions and those who were around him and supported him, their actions contributed to saving lives.”
Dupuis noted that Prince will be given light duties until he has fully recovered and can get back to his regular routine.
Prince was presented with a plaque which reads “Presented to Jean-Pierre Prince for your heroism displayed after a tragic accident on April 19th, 2013. Your actions assisted in saving the lives of many road users.”
Prince will be stationed at the Roseau Fire station.
You are a real hero YOu will always be remembered.God bless you prince

I rejoice with you young man and give God thanks for your recovery. Please make Him central in your life and please take care of yourself. May your recovery continue complication free.
All the best cuz, make sure you are totally healed first before any strenuous work. Stay a hero…xxx
This one of the times when Skeritt should show his love for the young people of Dominica and just not only talk. He has dumped salt in the wounds of Dominicans by not only appointing Charles Savarin the President of Dominica but also bestowed on him the highest award in Dominica. I wonder if he cared that this hero has returned to work. We cannot forgot when this hero was supposed to be sent for medical help over seas, Skeritt didn’t appear to care, however, his now President, Charles Savarin, had the best of medical treatment over seas.
this is irrelevant.
Joslyn prince For president

@SIGH October 1, 2013
If you were in tact or smart, you would notice that the sentence you quoted above is not complete in meaning –just as it is–that is the reason for your useless question.
That is the way most of you give me thumbs down, because you cannot read with sound comprehension. But that is just too bad for people like you.
Welcome Back Joselyn. God will continue to watch over you and shower you with his many blessings!!!! We are happy to have you back!!!!
god bless
Thanks you prince for saving lives.you deserve all the flowers you get
I thank God for you Mr Prince…. Wishing U all the best in the future
Congrats to Mr. Prince.
Welcome back Mr. Prince, its nice to have people of your heoric community service around! God Bless!
May God continue to bless you and keep you safe. Be a blessing.
well done fellow Dominican. Prince, be sure to take it easy and not try to impress others. The effect of your injuries esp. internal can be fatal if not dealt with properly.
The Father saw it fit to spare your life. Please recognize this with thanks and praise to Him by doing good works for yourself, family, community and your country. That way, you will be the true hero you have always wanted to be. More blessings on you, young man!
Congratulations Mr. Prince, nice that you are back on the job. I pray that the good Lord continues to give you the strength to carry on. Please take it one day at a time. Blessings Bro!!
Finally i read something good instead of a bunch of boys fighting for power.
May God Bless him and his family.
