After capturing the Miss Jaycees International crown, in Antigua on Sunday, Miss Dominica 2016, Tasia Floissac, was officially welcomed back to Dominica with a small ceremony, held at the Fort Young Hotel, this morning.
Floissac stated that she is humbled by the overwhelming support that she has received from her fans in Dominica.
“I was received so warmly by this big crowd of people… and even while I was in Antigua, the calls never stopped, the messages never stopped, the prayers never stopped…” she said. “I am truly humbled to know that my country is behind me 100-percent.”
She thanked the Dominica Festivals Committee, as well as her well-wishers, sponsors, her chaperone, members of her team (‘Team Titanium’).
“I am thankful for the mercies of God. I did not achieve this success on my own,” Floissac elaborated.
She described her reign thus far as a “beautiful experience.”
Representative of the Dominica Festivals Committee (DFC), Simeon Joseph, remarked that Dominicans must celebrate Floissac’s accomplishment, as it was not an easy feat.
“The competition is of a very high standard. The contest itself is very tight. And, for someone from Dominica to go to Antigua and capture that crown is, in fact, a feat that we need to celebrate as Dominicans,” commented.
Floissac will leave for Nevis, on Thursday, to compete in the Miss Caribbean Culture Queen Pageant.
