The National Bank of Dominica Ltd. has appointed Ellingworth Edwards to the position of Managing Director. Edwards assumed overall responsibility for the Group on July 1, 2014.

Mr. Edwards is qualified in Finance, Accounting and Management. His career spans over 15 years in banking and senior management positions. He is a former employee of NBD, who served in the capacity of Deputy General Manager and acted as Managing Director during his tenure with the Bank. Edwards rejoins NBD from the Fine Foods Inc. and Auto Trade group where he held the position of Senior General Manager.

Commenting on the appointment, Anthony John, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said that “Edwards has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the financial services industry, specifically with NBD, and we are confident that the Group will benefit under his stewardship.”

Edwards describes his new assignment as “a welcomed opportunity. I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to contribute to the Bank once again. I look forward to re-acquainting myself to NBD and working closely with the staff to build partnerships with our customers and grow our Bank.”

Edwards? Well, he is known to have banking experience, having worked with the NBD in the past. My beef with him is his lack of management aggression and client empathy. He comes across as the kind of textbook manager who says “no” to everything which is not in the strategic plan. But, let’s hope his time at Fine Foods, a company which is customer and market driven, had a positive impact. If you don’t make the grade, Sir, this second time around, leaving banking alone!

Mr. Edwards, I have admired you for years as a man of God, a spouse to a beautiful lady, a son that made his mom proud, a friend and a brother. I am so proud of you and pleased for you. I wish you the best in your new role and pray God provides you the wisdom and vision to lead the bank to its potential in serving its customers. Your loving sister

After all these years of bypassing Mr Edwards he is finally given that position. He is not known to be very accommodating to customers or staff. Hope his years outside of the bank has helped him amass some empathy. Wishing him the best.

Why did the bank of Dominica hire a guy with so much financial experience. I think an English teacher who cannot speak very well and have some classes in psychology would be the best fit.

Anyway, congratulations on your new position. Wish you success.

@annoymous. You must have been taught by the English teacher who cannot speak and took a few classes in psychology. Hopefully you understand some day.
