Pointe Michel man gives back to his community

David Blanchard, a Dominican citizen residing in the United Kingdom, in his endeavor to continue his promise of charitable work to the children in the village of Pointe Michel, will again donate two barrels of children’s stationery and other items to that community.

The barrels are expected to be received by the children of Pointe Michel next month, October, and will contain stationeries, toys, clothes, shoes and other items, totaling $3,500.

Blanchard charitable work has focused on youth development in the village of Pointe Michel and other communities on the island.

Over the past years, he has made charitable donations to the Castle Bruce and villages in the Kalinago Territory.

In October 2015 he made a donation of educational materials, clothing items, children’s snacks and a laptop to his alma mater the St Luke’s Primary School in Pointe Michel.

Blanchard said the first barrel of supplies will be donated to the children in the Sibouli area, while the second will be donated in the Hollywood area of Pointe Michel, with some of the supplies to be used at the resource center.

Blanchard believes that children are the future and the future of any nation depends on them. He thinks that the supplies donated will enable children to be better equipped educationally and will lessen the burden parents have to bear in purchasing educational supplies for their children.
