Gregoire is in critical condition at hospital

Relatives of a bus driver, Jeffrey Gregoire, a resident of Grandbay who was seriously injured during an accident in Antrim on November 9, is seeking assistance from the public for him.

He is now in critical condition at the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Gregoire was the driver of a bus carrying British visitors who arrived on island onboard P&O Cruise Lines, Azura that morning.

The accident claimed the life of one female visitor while several others were injured.

A family member told Dominica News Online (DNO) on Friday that Gregoire is presently a patient at the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH), is in a critical condition and needs blood.

“Right now we are seeking blood donors,” the family member said. “The more the merrier since he supposed to do surgery next week and they have already extended so much of their blood to him with none from us.”

She said Gregoire is breathing with assistance from a machine.

“He is fighting,” she said.

Gregoire also requires $12,000 to assist with leg surgery which has become a matter of urgency since his last scan.

“The metal for his leg cost $12, 000,” the family member revealed.

Gregoire’s relatives and friends are said to be holding on and praying for his recovery.

Persons who are willing to assist are asked to contact 1-767-316-8863.

I have not heard mention of the car and its occupant(s) that ran into the bus which caused this dreadful accident. Why is that? Should not the insurance of that car be responsible for all injuries etc?

So disgusted at some of the comments on here…When Lennox had to come up with money to pay for his mouth..you all came out in droves..Now this man who really needs assistance due to an accident not of his own doing..does not seem to deserve our help? I hope you all sleep well at night..

I understand my my man but it is about time that all, people involved with our tourists are properly insured and I would find it shocking to find that bus drivers involved in this are not adequately covered or vetted to make sure they are covered. I would call that negligence by the DDA and the Ministry of tourism.

We as a country have become so insensitive. We are now divided by politics more than ever before. A young man is suffering with life threatening injuries and instead of trying to come together to assist in which ever way we can, we are bringing up politics. This can happen to any of us or our family. $1 from every working adult on the island could solve the issue. We don’t have to depend on the govt for everything.

Dominicans are noted for not being concern with each other in times like these unless it affects them directly or indirectly. By this i mean all those who commented by saying why wasn’t the victim or his family saving for times like these made those comments simply because they are a bit more fortunate than him in terms of having a better job which allows them to have saved $12,000 or more or they can depend on a family member, a friend or is in a position to be qualified for a quick loan from the bank. Be that as it may that shouldn’t be the attitude towards each other in times like these. if you can help and agree to help you help if you can and don’t want too or just cannot help so be but the politics and negativity i think doesn’t fit there. With the state of our economy as it is now do we really expect the average Dominican to have $12,000 dollars waiting there in the event of a situation like this? By now most of it if not all would have been done from the time of the…

These incidents really bring to light the true situation in Dominica. The Minister of Tourism seems to think that all that needed to be done has been done and that they deserve praises, as has been given to them by the cruiseline company. But was about the young Dominican? Why has he not been flown out for medical attention? What is the situation with the insurance companies? His insurance should cover him if the other does not want to, and then sue the other if their driver was at fault. Then again, maybe the car was not insured? Anyhow, all of this while Skeritt runs from the PMH, has his children born in US hospitals, has them in US schools, and is galavanting all over the world flying first class while they say that the country has no money for situations such as this one. Wow……Labour ka twavay garcon!

    • Tell them as Labor Party politicians like to say “come” again!

Some are focusing on me, they say I am heartless, but they fail to realize all of us cannot toe the line in Government favor, when they do something good, we need to recognize they have done something good.

Whereas this guy is fighting for his life where is Tongue Skerrit, Darroux, and Justina concern!

As you said they are looking for praises for perhaps for paying the cost to get the injured foreigners out of the country; nevertheless, they show no concern for the injured Dominican and his poor family who cannot help him financially.

By the time election time comes around one will not be able to count the truck loads of ply wood, galvanize, and lumber heading to Grand Bay, and the slogan will be “we have a winning record in Grand Bay, and we are not going to lose this time

Well if politics is simply about winning, and nothing is done to put money in the pocket of people like that poor, perhaps nobody…

I feel for that young man, I hope he pulls through with God’s help because god knows, with all the money I hear they getting for Dominica and all the things they say they are doing, they haven’t got proper medical facility there, if the accident was on the other side of the island? They need to get their act together, instead of insulting the opposition they need to get their fingers out. An ordinarily man is ill! his family have to beg, government ministers and their friends sick helicopter come for them to take them away, why can’t they help the poor like they help themselves

    Where is Dominica Taxi Association?
Where is the ministry of Tourism? They did all in their power to help he tourist. Why not do all in your power to help the driver, one of ur own????

And on another note, not to bash the injured or anything, but we Dominicans need to save for rainy days.. Everytime we need a little 10 15 20,000 we end up having to beg… we shud not be leaving our life in the hands of other people.. Save save save…100 a month goes a long way!!!

Was he not insured ?:why can’t his family turn to his insurance to forward cash to get this done? If someone is injured ,isn;t it the hosiptal’s responsibility to do do what is necessary to help their patients?
Dominica is progressing in reverse ;in the mean time the gov’t is spending high cost to pay for people to travel to Dubai just for fun when Dubai is a rich conservative muslim country .

Some may say I am cold, about this, nevertheless though I would like this guy to get some help, I would like to draw to the attention that all of Grand Bay people; all sleep in red, their bed is red, the covers are red, and they have voted red, so why should the public have to help when minister Justina Musgrave Charles should have already made arrangement to have the guy medical treatment proceed. It is only when something so triadic occurs in Dominica we see the real poverty which exists in our country.

Such are the occasions when we come to realize that Dominica is not as wealthy as Skerrit and his supports, and ministers including that Marigot girl Justina Charles said it is. Remember they compare Dominica’s economy to equal that of the United States, saying America owes as much debt as…

Remember they compare Dominica’s economy to equal that of the United States, saying America owes as much debt as Dominica.

Darroux made the claim about two weeks ago that there are plenty doctors who are specialists in all fields of medicine in Dominica. As such I would hope the injured man could get all the treatment he needs at the government hospital, the PMH hospital for free! This may not be the time to say that way; however, it is an opportunity to expose the ills of our country, and the state in which the incompetents like Roosevelt Skerrit and Darroux have the country. Dominican need to wake up, and rise up against the establishment and get rid of Roosevelt Skerrit, and the rest of the vultures who live off the blood of the people, while our citizens die from simply medical incidents, and issues!

If an individual family in a country does not have $24,000 dollars between them, how much more miserable can life be for the poor in the country, twenty-four…

Do not focus on me, focus on the conditions which overwhelms the greater majority of people in the country. People are not living in the country, they only exists, a life of poverty is not living, the quality of life the majority of people are experiencing in Dominica is substandard.

    • Don’t worry about if I dream about Skerrit, if I have anything personal to say to Skerrit, I can either call him direct on a telephone, and that is unless he change the number I had for him, and I do not know, I need to say anything to political or otherwise I know how to reach him by E-mail.

Then Again since the man is Me Almost Nearly Cousin; I can get to him through one of his real biological cousins, who are my biological cousins.

Rather than concentrating on me, ponder on the message, whether you like it or not, and decide if there is any truth in what you read, and when you reach your conclusion, perhaps you will be able to identify the backward state in which Dominica exists, and the poverty you exists in, that is why the family of this young man does not have twenty-four thousand dollars to help him.

That is peanut change; if you all believe strike up the band, play the music, drink yourselves to death, is all life is all about, everyone of you will live and die in poverty, while the politicians you like and keep in power live off you blood, living in their multi-million dollar homes, and driving motor vehicles valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I do not have to say how I am going to help him because the money one may contribute may never get to him. After Erika Some Dominica women gave a Dominica woman politician ten thousand U. S. dollars to help the victims, she stole it all!

That is why many of us are reluctant to donate money to any cause at home

Hmm wait brb, Let me read the article from Mr Tongue some ours ago.
““All the individuals who were injured, and also the lady who passed unfortunately, they are out of Dominica right now. One or two of them are in Martinique doing further medical attention, some of them are back in England,” he revealed. “What I can say is that we have received letters from the cruise ships and the cruise lines already thanking us in terms of the manner which we have handled the situation, the manner in which we took care of the individuals who were impacted by the unfortunate event.”

Tonge stated that following the accident, officials from the Ministry of Tourism, including himself, visited the victims involved every day to make sure they were okay.”

“It was just unfortunate that someone was driving without due care and attention which caused the accident,” Tonge said. “It was no fault of the driver of the bus…but accidents do happen.”

So ….that didnt apply to the Domininican bus driver?

What is the government doing about this. From a previous article, “Robert Tonge has revealed that all the individuals who were injured in the vehicular accident in the Antrim area on November 9 are out of Dominica and are undergoing further medical attention overseas. “All the individuals who were injured, and also the lady who passed unfortunately, they are out of Dominica right now” so a bit confused when I read that he is still in critical condition.

Can you please Mr Green extend the same courtesies as you did for those overseas and request that the government either send him away for proper medical attention or pay the cost for his leg. He has importance to us just like the foreigners.

What is his blood type? To know that would be a great help so people do not go to the hospital unnecessarily. Also, why don’t they take him to Martinique? I know it costs money but if govt. can do that for their friends, ministers and so on, why not for Jeffrey? $12,000 EC is less than the P.M.’s airline ticket to Dubai.
