St. Joseph man to be ordained Catholic priest

Auguiste will be ordained a priest next week

Come Tuesday May 26, 2015, the journey to the Catholic Priesthood for 27-year-old, Calvin Auguiste of St. Joseph will come to an end, with an ordination ceremony at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church at 6:00 pm.

“It’s exciting, there is a certain level of excitement but I think my greatest feeling is gratitude that God has called me to such an important ministry to participate at this level in his church,” Auguiste told Dominica News Online on Friday, May 22.

He described the journey to the priesthood as long but worthwhile.

“It had its valleys and peaks but above all it was worth it,” he said. “I had a great experience at school, great friends, great teachers and you meet so many people who have touched your life, who call you to go and to be a better person. While it had its valleys, the peaks were certainly great moments.”

The journey for him began at 17 but he is advising others who want to follow his example to do so a bit later after they have matured and are certain this is the path they want to travel.

“Certainly I would encourage any young man who would want to go into the priesthood to do so, what I would discourage, is entering so young,” Auguiste stated. “I think one has to attain a certain level of maturity either in the work force, experience, self-awareness, depth, go to college get an associate’s degree.”

He believes at 17 many young men are not very responsible.

“At 17 the truth is one is still uncertain, one still has a lot of questions,” he remarked. “I am not regretting, certainly I would not use the word regret. God works through everyone differently … 17 wasn’t a terrible year for me but just looking at 17 year old’s now, I don’t think they are as responsible as maybe I was as a 17 year olds.”

Auguiste will know where he will be stationed in the coming months and stated that service to the people will be the center of his priesthood.

He began is education at the elementary school in St Joseph and went on to the Isaiah Thomas Secondary school (ITSS) of that same community.

He did his studies for the priesthood in St. Croix, at the St. John’s University in New York and later at Boston College.

He professed his final religious vows in St. Joseph in August 2014.

He was ordained a deacon in the US in October 2014.

Auguiste belongs to the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, also known as the Redemptorists; an order which ministers in over 70 countries across the world.

You see there is a difference in religion; the Church and Christianity: it is essential that we are able to distinguish between Church and Religion. Religion is anything which has a large following, and just because the large following sings and talk about God, does not mean they are acceptable to God.

Church is a congregation of sincere people who assemble themselves together, and worship God through Jesus Christ in Sprit, and in truth; and the preaching of the word of God from the Bible.

Religion was indeed imposed on especially Black people to keep us in economic and mental slavery. They Roman Catholics did just that when they came with Bible and cross in hand and supported Slavery! While they were brutalizing our ancestors, beating and hanging us, they used Biblical scriptures to justify that evil. Then the puppets priest and bishops rather becoming puppets to God, they becomes the puppets of politicians, promised that God will rewarded the politicians!

Yes, If I took five hundred thousand dollars from the prime minister of a country, while he allows a hospital where children and the poor are treated to close while giving me five hundred thousand dollars to put a roof on a build called church, I may have told him the same thing if I am not a true Christian, and a disciple of Jesus.

@out of south city –May 25, 2015 Do you know that the so-called Jews are transplanted Europeans who converted to Judaism during the time of the Kazars occupied North-eastern Africa which they called the Middle-east?

I do not care from what they were transplanted, but for that reason I do not think of the as God’s chosen people of today–when I speak about Israelites–you will always read “ancient Israel”.

God’s chosen people today or His Israelites are those who accepted the Son, Jesus Christ–both Jews and Gentiles.

You feed your mind with human wisdom and philosophy, given to you by God’s enemy and yours too–the Bible calls him “Satan”–the wicked Lucifer of the Garden of Eden. God wrote the Holy by the men He inspired to do so–take it or leave it!

You have no personal experience of what you are speaking about–not even the slave thing–but I have many experiences as Holy Spirit continues His work of transformation in my Life–bottom line!

I do not know where you got that piece of rubbish from, but what I can advised you is be very careful of what you say about the Jews, and how you treat a Jew if you ever come in contact with them.

They are indeed God Jehovah chosen people; and God said in his words he will bless those who bless the Jews, and cruse those who curse the Jews. Now unless you are a god more powerful than God Jehovah who made his covenant with the Jews you had better think again before you launch your attack on the chosen people of God.

I know there are some so people who believe they are an authority on the Bible, claims that the present day Jews are not the chosen; I remind them that the Jews of Europe came about because of the scattering of the Jews which God permitted. And…

My brother, that’s why we need to read history books for information which the we won’t find in the bible. Read The Thirteenth Tribe, by Arthur Keostler. Being a “believer” has cut us off from researching the truth because we have been brainwashed by whatever religion we belong to. It is high time that we get to know the truth as far as history is concerned and stop believing the lie that has been propagated for too long.
I applaud you in a previous post when you wrote, “Religion was indeed imposed on especially Black people to keep us in economic and mental slavery. My brother, I consider you to be quite knowledgeable, but to make a statement like this concerning “the chosen people of god” is beyond me. Where is the proof of what you just mentioned, except the bible? And why is it that there is only ” a certain people” considered to be the chosen ones? You know what? I used to believe that way too but when I started doing my research I had to lay that bible aside. Didn’t you say in a previous post that “biblical scriptures were used to to justify the evil by the Roman Catholics?”
What makes you think that the so-called Jews are different than the Romans? They, too, played a major rule in enslaving our ancestors, my brother!
It is like all manner of common sense has been eradicated from our minds and fantasy has take residence.
Someone responded to one of my posts and said, “I support you but unfortunately you will have no luck convincing any “believer” of the facts of the matter.”

@THE TRUTH May 23, 2015 ”The church is mental slavery—- The church is a spiritually bankrupt organization because its goal is to turn people into sheepish, obedient, believers—

I would like leave the whole of yours here, as you continued with “the church” is this, that, and the other–but I can’t. It is unfortunate that you left no reference to where you found all that negative message about the Church–hence that leaves your ideas unproductive–that is just too bad.

The church is “Spiritually” bankrupt is one of the grave mistake in your mind, for God is Spirit, He has a Church in this world–His feeding to Her is of the Spirit alone –She cannot be “Spiritually” bankrupt.

What you are speaking about is the group of people in this world, calling themselves “Church” but knowing nothing about God in Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit, who takes the place of the Head in Jesus Christ–those groups are nothing more than social clubs they are not Churches.

    • May 26, 2015

As I have already said: The true Church in this world belongs to God, and Him alone; we are His family in this world, God knows His people–His Church– and He is preparing Her to live with Him in Paradise–He will gather us at His appointed time.

At least not only is this of my wisdom and understanding but I have the most important reference–it is the Holy Bible–or else it could not have the best seller for moons upon moons.

And so it is the apostle Paul speaking about marriage to the Church of Ephesus here he compares Jesus to husband of a wife–He say to them: “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her– that He might present her to Himself a glorious church—holy and without blemish”

The negativity which you accept is what the enemy of God and yours too. wants you to accept. Just keep in mind that you are hurting no one but yourself– God is till in control

So many people upset to see a young man dedicated his life to God. Shame on you all! You have no respect for God. Congrats young man and well done on your choice. Jesus gave up everything for us and so I will support anyone who gives up all for him. It shows your mind has been elevated above things of this world as so many of our fellow Dominicans who write here cannot seem to comprehend. You have the holy spirit shining in you for you to make such a move. Continue to pray and he will guide you to do even more things that the human mind cannot understand. With God you do not need anything else. For those who do not understand, pray to the Holy Spirit to come upon you and help you and convert you. Then your eyes will be opened and you will see.

What does Europe have to do with the Bible except being human and God’s children like the rest of us? All their Kings ever did for God was to remove ALL references to Africa from the Bible; and placed their own John, Luke, Mathew, King etc. What are you doing, Young man?? Think! AAAAG! JESUS.

Taking up their responsibility for what? To continue slave-oriented christianity? The religion that has us bowing down to a white man and looking for him to come back and rapture us and take us to streets paved with gold? While the Europeans are reaping the gold in Africa we are looking up to the sky to walk the streets of gold which is the lie and fairy tale that the Europeans have used to fool us and cause us to fear a place called hell. Do we have any sense as far as what christianity has done to our forefathers? Through that religion our forefathers were taken and sold as slaves. They were forced to become christians and we continue to follow as though we are blind-folded. Whether christianity, islam or judaism, all of these religions were part and parcel of the slave trade. Just look at the role religions play in the world. Nations are at war with each other in the name of religion. Two things that have been established by men to shackle our minds are religion and politics.

The men and/or young men know what they are doing why they do not get involved in helping their church. Since the men take a back step, the women are leading. Whoever helps, as long as they are sincere, with a cheerful heart and knowing it is for the Lord, God is pleased.
I have a small booklet about “Three Days Darkness”, a prediction of some of what is to befall the earth and what to do during that time if it happens in our lifetime.
I also read that there will be less men than women in Heaven. I do not doubt that for more women go to church, to prayerful gatherings and help out in the church.
I told a male friend (not a D/can) that it is predicted there will be less men than women in Heaven. He replied, “The Bible refers to everyone as men.” I told him this is not what is meant.
I once had a dream about a pilgrimage. The only man on board was the bus driver. The passengers were all women. There is more to that dream. It was a good dream which came true.

Lord and God, King of heaven and earth, You entrusted to priests the most sacred treasure in all of creation, to bring about by Your power the Eucharistic consecration ( to turn bread and wine into the body, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ).
Send holy priests to Your people, that they may be a support for them in their dangers, that they may be a brother to them in their needs, that they may carry You in word, deed and truth into the hearts of men and women.
We pray for father calvin Auguiste and for all priests.
Let their hearts, their minds and hands be humble!
Let them bear Your countenance and all the sorrows which You suffered for the sake of Your people.

This is a good prayer for the future Fr. Calvin Auguiste and for priests.
Catholics are supposed to pray daily for the Pope, Bishops, Priests, for the Church in general. We are also to pray for priestly vocations.
These days, more so than ever, the enemy is rampant and is trying his utmost that some Catholic men not become priests. He has already done much havoc in the Church and to those who are doing their utmost to be godly.
I have some prayers for priests and also for vocations to the priesthood. I send copies to some people and ask them to do likewise. This is a few of our Catholic obligations.

I am happy the soon to be Rev. Father Calvin Auguiste took the dare. His family must be very proud of him as one of God chosen disciples upon whose rock he will continued to build his church. Dominicans should be extremely please that we continue to produce priests in our young men. Praise God.

The Church in general is obligated to take care of their priests. They do not get an income or the little they get cannot really support them. Especially the Redemptorist priests, they took a vow of poverty. They will be alright. They also have relatives who will see to it that they do not starve.
God, from on high takes care of his priests. Do you know what Our Lord said about the birds that, “they neither toil nor reap yet our Heavenly Father takes care of them?” What more would He not do to ensure his priests are well taken care of?
When you die, you will see how important priests are on earth. Our Lord will reveal it to you when He reveals himself to you that, He suffered and died for us, for our sins.
Know that there is a condition for obtaining eternal salvation, as Our Lord said: “Only those who perform the Will of His (Our) Heavenly Father will enter his Kingdom.”

You should not have commented about ministers of government. They are not the same.

You have been speaking foolishly for too long, you need to be counseled:

Human beings, of this age, do not serve human beings–black, white, red, or green–unless they have chosen to do so!

The slave idea in you, is of your own mind, in its carnal condition–this mind produces whatever is sown on its ground, motivated by your human senses into your flesh–the natural person of you—“But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned”

Hence just as the things of God is Spiritually discerned, it the same way that God is Spirit–He is not white, He is not black, He is not yellow. God Almighty, Eternal Spirit made Himself a physical Temple which is the Body of Christ Jesus. Jesus held the form of a Jew–the Israelites, the chosen people of God in those days, they were light skin people–but not white as in Caucasoid.

I have also been reading your comments and I must say that if christianity was the way to redeem us as a people, then you should treat your brother from Wesley with respect when you post your comments. Instead, you all bash at each other like children, disrespecting and calling each other names. You are no example of who you portray to be and I don’t expect you to understand when I post my comments because you are spiritually blind. Being religious and being spiritual are two different things. I do not want to have any part in religion because I need to be liberated in my mind and religion does not permit anyone to do so. That’s why I had to give it up. Trust me, I used to be religious just like you and others on this forum but religion keeps one in bondage.

The same Jews whom you said were the chosen people of God in those days (and why are they not still the chosen people of god?) were also engaged in the enslavement of our people. Do you know that the so-called Jews are transplanted Europeans who converted to Judaism during the time of the Kazars occupied North-eastern Africa which they called the Middle-east? They called it the Middle East because that is a political term and not a geographical term. That was deliberate to cut off the other countries from Africa.
Read “The Thirteenth Tribe” by Arthur Koestler.
If God is such a loving god why does he discriminate? Why isn’t everyone who serve him his chosen people?
I used to be gullible just like many are but realised that religion, like politics, is just another way of brain-washing the masses. Once you are hooked by religion, it is very hard to think otherwise. Some people exit this earth never knowing about their history because they have allowed religion to cloud their minds

There is a lot of information to enlighten us as a people but unless we let that bible go we will never be educated. Instead of researching our history we have our heads up in the clouds, looking for Jesus to return so we could be raptured. I can assure you, we will keep looking and waiting for eternity but that will never happen because we have been fooled by the white man who introduced us to his bible. Instead, they are reaping the gold and other resources of Africa and they have us thinking of streets paved with gold in the sky by and by.
When are we going to wake up to reality and stop living in a fantasy world?
Here are some books that are worth reading.
“They Came Before Columbus” by Ivan Van Sertima, “Ancient Egypt, Light of The World” by Gerald Massey, “The Origin and Evolution of Religion” by Albert Churchward, “The Mis-education of the Negro” by Carter G. Woodson, The Willie Lynch Letter And The Making of A Slave, “Stolen Legacy” by George G.M. James. These…

First of all, do not blame “religion” for your lack of “liberty” for whether you are in it or not, you can never have “liberty” in that your mind is “permanently” clothed in “darkness”.

I did not choose to say it you, you have said it about yourself time and again– that you have no Light in you; for this Light can only shine in you, by your faith in God the Lord, in Jesus Christ–it is apparent the you do not believe in Him.

Secondly, I have said it over and over on this site that I do not follow “religion” but I maintain a steadfast relationship with God, the Lord in Jesus Christ–you can never understand this.

However I am still human with natural emotions , hence I will need to defend them from time to time. For you to use a situation between me and someone else to judge my faith in God, is another product in your mind of darkness from your god of darkness–good for you!!!!!

You will never comprehend lofty matters because you lack a godly-spiritual mind,
As Frank Werfel who wrote “The Song of Bernadette”, a movie and book, stated, “For those who believe no explanation is necessary. For those who do not believe no explanation is possible.”

An article entitled, “Wise and Otherwise”: I do not seek to understand that I may believe, but I believe in order to understand. For this I believe–that unless I believe, I should not understand. . . .”

You may have been baptized a Catholic, attended this Church and as you grew older you adopted godless ways as some others. This is why you made that type of statement.
It is obvious you are not well-versed in Holy Scripture. The era only changes earthly matters. It does not change things that are of God and what He ordained.

“Jesus Christ is still the Same, Today, Tomorrow and Forever.”

Pray to God for enlightenment. At this stage in your life and manner of thinking, only God can help you.

    • The Facts

You are in no position to make such comments and ask such questions. What is in your mind does not represent the Catholic Church and its members worldwide. You are the one who is out of your mind to even think as you do.
Satan, proud as a peacock and full of pride which came before his fall into Hell, said the same thing to God. His words were, “I will not serve. I will not bow down.”
What makes you think you are correct and the Catholic Church is wrong? This presumptuousness came from the influence of Satan.
Your problem is you are disobedient, stubborn and rebellious and are on the wrong track. When you die you will say, why did I not believe?
Obedience and humility are godly virtues without which you will never see God. The Church is praying for people as you that you may not perish eternally. May God have mercy on you, on your soul.
Think of this: you cannot go to Heaven on your terms. You will go on Jesus’ terms.

The Facts, this is a free forum and just as you are entitled to make your comments, so am I, unless if DNO fails to post my comments. Who are you to say that I am in no position to make such comments and ask questions? I did not know that DNO gave you such power? I make my comments, based on what I know because I do my research. The Catholic Church played a major role in enslaving our forefathers. Three of the slave ships that were used to transport our fore-fathers were called The Grace of God, The Holy Mary and The Goodship Jesus. How much of your history as a black person do you know? All you do is to regurgitate the doctrine of the catholic church. Do you know that when our fore-fathers were kept in the dungeons before they were transported to the Americas their captors were having church above? If you know your true history, you would never want to belong to any religion. Religion continues to enslave our minds and it seems like we are satisfied with being enslaved mentally.

Aren’t people free to give their comments on this forum? It seems like everyone has to agree with your posts and if they don’t then you are ready to cut off their necks. You need to get off your high horse and stop living in a fantasy world. You do not own this forum so just go away, go away, go away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Oath he took is before God. When the Priest blesses the congregation, God blesses them from above.
When the Priest baptize babies and adults, saying, I baptize you, in The Name of The Father and of The Son and of The Holy Spirit, God baptized and blest them..
In Confession, when the Priest says, “I absolve you of your sin”, God absolves the penitent.
If you know Holy Scripture, Our Lord said, “Whose sins you forgive they are forgiven them and whose sins you retain, they shall be retained.”
When couples get married and the Priest announces them married and bless them, God blest them.
This is why once baptized, always baptized; likewise married.
Our Priests are God’s representatives on earth.
You see, your problem is you and some others lack godly enlightenment. You do not know anything about Holy Scriptures, probably to only quote from the Bible and also do not know anything about the Catholic Church and its Teachings. This is why you make such blunders.

His advice to the young men is correct. Seventeen years of age is much too young. In the ancient days some young men were encouraged to join the priesthood. Parents were also instrumental in encouraging them.
I know a priest who joined the priesthood in his fifties. He first had to attend the Seminary to study for the priesthood. He is a good priest and well-loved by his parishioners.
I attended an ordination of a few priests. One was in his forties. He celebrated his first Holy Mass in the parish I reside in. After Mass, at a reception, he blest us all. The first Mass and blessing of a Priest is efficacious..
The same goes for those who decide to get married for whatever reason and there are many. This is why some married couples were/are unhappy and dissatisfied and their marriage did not last. Today, the situation is worst. So when some of you criticize the priesthood, think of those who were married and some are still unhappy.

  31. May 22, 2015

As I write this, there are 4 comments on the board, and apart from “To God be the Glory” the other three is plain stupidity– a young man has dedicated his Life to God and people have nothing good to say except to express the “lust of eye” in them– how deplorable!

    • May 22, 2015

Calvin, I can perceive your words, pertaining to entering training and discipline to be a priest at the age of 17. You are right on–that it is not a very healthy age to make that decision and to pursue it. for Wisdom, understanding, and knowledge, of what is expected throughout this process must be dealt with–before any action is taken.

However, that kind of counsel can only be done by God alone, through faith–if He is the One who has called you, or any other young person like yourself, to serve Him. Therefore my advice to you is to stand in faith with Him –no human being can give you that training; no matter what their status is in the Church.

      • May 22, 2015

Your observance, portrays the reason so many priests are involved in those sinful sexual conducts –one way or the other–it is because those priest were not aware of dying to the flesh–which has to be a demand of the Roman Catholic Church hierarchy, in fact this practice must be the primary concern to every one who claims Jesus Christ–Pope, bishop, priest, pastor, preacher–everyone of us– Romans 6 tell us all about it.

No one can claim to be a Christian if they will not learn to walk in the Spirit, for God is Spirit, His Laws of Life in Love is of Spirit and Truth. Jesus tells us through the man, Nicodemus, “that which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit; do not marvel that I say, you must be born again”! Read this at John 3

      • The Facts
        May 23, 2015

The Priesthood is “A Calling from God.” Some persevere in it; others persevered to the end. Some did not; they were weak of spirit.
I would state, similarly, some were baptized Catholics and when others approached them and indoctrinated them otherwise, they renounced their Catholic Faith and joined other churches. This is also weak of spirit. They could have cultivated their faith but they did not.
It similarly applies to those who got married and did not honor their marital vows, “For better or for worse. . . .”.
Some of the unfaithful priests appeared to have had that tendency which was not evident when they decided to enter the priesthood, were in the Seminary and ordained. Some of them may have thought that they could have left their feelings behind. Some may have developed the feeling while a priest. For the latter, who knows? God and them know. The spirit was willing but the flesh was weak.
There is a lot to state and I could state more.

    • The Facts

You know what is on their mind. It is idle talk, the work of Satan.
You know what Our Lord said about idle talk, “By their words they will be acquitted and by their words they will be condemned.”
Some people are more perfect than others. Some are not perfect at all and are not striving for perfection but excel in criticisms.
Whatever they say, write and do, they do not realize it. We must inform them, for their mortal and spiritual benefit.

Be careful with your words. God is taking note. This is not a joke nor to be disrespected nor ridiculed. Make it your mortal and spiritual business to know what is contained in Holy Scripture, the Word of the Lord.
He will be hotter, on fire with the Holy Spirit, serving the Lord.

Matthew 19:11-12 – Not all can accept (this) word, but only those to whom that is granted. Some are incapable of marriage because they were born so, some because they were made so by others, some because they have renounced marriage for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whoever can accept it, ought to accept it.
      .
Matthew 19:29 – Everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for the sake of My Name will receive a hundred times more, and will inherit eternal life.

When you think of the priesthood and speak of it, keep the above holy words of Our Lord Jesus Christ in mind It is worth the sacrifice for the Lord.

God can make what is exceptionally hot as the sun become as frigid as snow/ice.
Remember what Our Lord said: “With God all things are possible.”
Nothing is impossible for God to do and change.
In Holy Scripture: “Behold! I make all things new.” And, “The old has gone. The new has come.”
Keep your eyes and hands off him. Keep your distance. Do not allow Satan to influence you and tempt you. He belongs to God, to serve him and his parishioners.
