Nelson Mandela is revered as an iconic statesman

In recognition of the contribution made to humanity throughout the world and on the occasion of his death, The Dominica Guild of Cuban Graduates is organizing an activity in tribute to the late Nelson Mandela.

The activity will take place at the Roseau Cruise Ship Berth on the Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard on Friday 13th December 2013 from 5:30 P.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The activity will begin with the national anthems of Dominica and South Africa, followed by an opening prayer by Father Franklin Cuffy and solidarity messages from various organizations and individuals. Members of the public will be given the opportunity to express their feelings about the exemplary life of Nelson Mandela in an open microphone session.

Throughout the activity a repertoire of conscious music related to the African Liberation Struggle will be played and a representative of the Dominica Guild of Cuban Graduates will give a synopsis of the life of Nelson Mandela.

The objective of the activity is to highlight the significance of the life of Nelson Mandela and to join the rest of the world in celebrating the contribution that he made as a black African.

Nelson Mandela will be laid to rest in his home village of QUNU in the eastern cape of South Africa on Sunday December 15th.

Madiba was flawed, as everyone else was. Sometimes, when someone as monumental as Mandela comes along – once in a lifetime – the iconic status can sometimes become a bit unhinged. I wrote about this in my article: http://myspiritrevivedindominica.com/contemplation-passing-madiba-aka-nelson-mandela/

He was actually declared brain dead in June and kept on life support for another 5+ months due to a family conflict involving his estate. in the courts.

Mandela’s life was certainly the embodiment of the human spirit. His energy will uplift every corner of the globe which battles for equal rights for its citizens. Hopefully we may do his legacy justice by learning from his life’s work and struggles. I was compelled to pay homage to Nelson Mandela with my artwork by creating a portrait of the world leader In Memoriam at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2013/12/in-memoriam-nelson-mandela.html

The ideals of Nelson Mandela has been turned upside down by many. Black Leaders all over the world and their blind cabalists now support quick enrichment, by dubious means, by those in public office. Our constitution is being torn apart and disrespected right, left and centre, but they stand there and support those illegal, corrupt practices. Mandela fought consistently against such corruption and bad governance.

Mandela would never say that his people are too FREE. Mandela would never grovel for crumbs and advocated strongly against oppression and domination.

Just open your eyes and see who is giving tacit, blind support to everything corrupt and illegal in our beloved country.

Hypocrisy. Crocodile Tears. Many have allowed, trinkets, positions on Boards, $$$$$$$$$, special favours to cloud their better judgements. Truth is like a thorn in their sides. Mandela was about Truth, fighting inequality and corruption. Today, in Dominica, the truth offends many. Many believe in Lies and more lies. The more often it is repeated, the more many believe. Time will tell. You all could fool some people sometimes, but not all of the people all of the time.

Action speaks louder than words. The bad governance and corrupt actions, that have been revealed in our island,by the patriots, cannot be refuted. Mandela fought to stamp out such illegal practices. Dictatorship, like apartheid South Africa, took its toll in Haiti, Latin America, Africa, Asia. Aren’t we on the path of dictatorship which Mandela would fight tooth-and-nail?

Check this week’s Chronicle. Who is the new owner? Who is Mike Jones? My people, open your eyes.

The plain truth is there still exist black Leaders who have abandoned the ideals of Mandela. There are many, who, because of their actions, continue to oppress their black fellow men and women in many ways. That truth disturbs you?

Aren’t those who struggle for freedom, equality, justice and respect for rule of Law called “terrorists?” The truth must prevail.

How many of those Western leaders, past and present worry about the plight of the poor Haitians devastated by dictatorships and lately by earthquake for example?

The gap between rich and poor is widening. Poverty is reaping havoc among millions. A few are getting richer and richer. The majority, the poor citizens, are getting poorer.

Mandela fought against White domination and surely Black domination. See what black leaders are doing to other black people. Let truth prevail.

You obviously don’t know the history of South Africa under Mandela. His wife Winnie was even worse.

Examine the horns make sure that all those who admire Mandela emulate his life and not act like they love his legacy and going forward it`s the opposite and a big sham.

Nelson Mandela did not live, fight for freedom and human rights, be imprisoned, suffer emotionally and physically and died in vain. Furthermore, what he did was for everyone of us, human beings, wherever we reside in this wide world. His legacy must live on and that those who are not loving, generous and considerate of others in whatever manner must also emulate him.
God ordained that this Great Man, Nelson Mandela would be an example to every human being, whatever their status, nationality, race, color or creed.
Nelson has left us but his works will live on in our hearts, minds, works and history books which should be taught in every household, work establishments and schools. His life and passing are not to be observed as mere words and soon forgotten as we carry on with our life in whatever manner we so wish.
Mandela’s wish is that every one live in dignity, harmony and peace and respect their fellow people, whoever they are, that they should accord others that right and cease derogatory language towards others, be it to the current government. Failure to do this, your words and the other critics are in vain. You are wasting your time, not teaching others anything, creating discord, enmity and trouble in the land. You might as well not comment.
Everyone in general should emulate Mandela’s life, not only in society and towards society but to fellow Dominicans, wherever they may be also in private and in their personal life to whoever they associate with.
No one and no exception as yourself and all others who choose to utilize Mandela’s life to throw words at others, namely at the current government is exempt. Mandela would not be pleased with such an attitude.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.” This is a condition for loving God and others and obtaining eternal salvation. You must first please God. How well are you, other critics who call others hypocrites doing in this respect?
