Democrats divided over the future of their party agreed on at least one thing at their national convention in Philadelphia on Monday night: Michelle Obama was a star.

The first lady gave a speech in support of a former first lady, presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, and described America as “the greatest country on earth”, clashing with Republican Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan and bringing an arena crowd riven by a fierce fight for the nomination to its feet.

“I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves, and I watch my daughters – two beautiful, intelligent, black young women – playing with their dogs on the White House lawn,” Michelle Obama said.

Obama’s husband, President Barack Obama, for years has drawn praise for his oratorical skills. But Monday night belonged to her.

  1. Thank you DNO for posting this message. I should have read it before you posted it, because it was on my News Feed page , early Tuesday morning, but I was too tired to read–an I keep forgetting to search for it. Michelle Obama is what I call a\” Phenomenal Woman\” a Lady of \”Wisdom and Grace\” it cannot be easy to find someone like her; in fact there may not be another like her.

You are living in the white house, you have all the luxuries at your finger tips don’t talk about privileges you are enjoying.Where ever you go body guards with guns to protect you.You cannot still remain ungrateful as you were almost 8 yrs ago when you told us.

“First time in my adult life I am proud of America”

You were not proud of your country because you were privileged to attend one of the best universities in the U.S.Not proud because you were earning over $200.000 per yr before your husband was president. You were only proud of the U.S.because your husband was running 4 president.

Does anyone expect Mrs Obama to tell us now America is bad after almost 8 yrs of her husband in power?

I am glad dno gave us this piece, because the one for Trump was, He blaming immigrants for crimes in the U.S. which was a blatant lie…….The bias media is just proving my point

Well she is a down to earth woman, her schooling and her income would not make her proud because neither of them came to her for free. Yet even if she might have been proud of herself– who would care about that–a lot of people are proud of themselves, even me.

And what woman would not be proud of the country of which the people appointed her husband to rule? Come on now!
