Hugo Chavez has died

Venezuelan president, Hugo Chavez, has died.

He died at 4:25 pm on Tuesday.

The announcement was made by a teary vice president, Nicholas Maduro on Tuesday afternoon.

Chavez was 58.

He became president of Venezuela in 1999.

He first announced he had cancer in 2011.

The government has never specified what kind of cancer Chavez had.

Since Chavez underwent surgery, government accounts about his health had been vague.

After some surgeries , Chavez called state television to offer upbeat, if vague, reports on his condition. There had been no such calls in recent weeks, and he had not been seen in public.

The last glimpse Venezuelans had of their leader was last month when the government released a series of photographs that showed a smiling Chavez — his face bloated — lying on a blue pillow, flanked by his two daughters.

The most recent report on his deteriorating condition came earlier this week when Venezuelan Vice President, Nicolas Maduro, told Venezuelans that President Chavez was “battling for his health, for his life.”

Venezuella and by extension the world has lost a son, a father, a comrade, a great President and a champion for the rights and dignity of the poor. I relay and express heartfelt sympathy to his immediate family, his friends and the people of Venezuella on his passing. May his soul and that of all the faithfully departed rest in eternal peace.

I hate being a pessimist, but Dominica and the smaller island states which were aligned to Petro Caribe and ALBA are gonna feel the brunt of Chavez’s death. RIP Mr Chavez: you were a stalwart and a true leader.

How do people call themselves Christians when there is so much hate, unforgivness and bitterness?
The greatest of ALL commandments is LOVE. We are
commanded even to love our enemies.
Please Dominica may your hearts be turned towards God. All that strife and division is bringing the country nowhere.
Repent of all the hate, the political/religious division and walk in LOVE, the love of God, not human love which is conditional.

Venezuela is now a country in mourning for the loss of its leader.
Hugo Chavez has gone to his eternal reward. I pray and hope that God had mercy on his soul, taking into account his good deeds.
Being a politician, a head of a country, he had friends as well as enemies. You cannot please everyone. He thought that he would have had some more years to continue doing good for Venezuela but it was not to be.
From afar I join with fellow Dominican nationals, in Dominica who are especially aware of the financial assistance Chavez extended to DA to offer my condolence to his family, Venezuelans, the Venezuelan Ambassador and all his associates/ friends wherever they may reside.
His passing is being mourned by especially Venezuelans whom he assisted in making their life better than it was in previous years. I am also hoping and praying that the new president will do likewise.
Rest in peace, Hugo Chavez. You will be remembered in my prayers. As a child of God you deserve God’s mercy. Who could know this better than Our Lord whose Holy Spirit scrutinizes our works?
Eternal rest grant unto Hugo Chavez, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen!

You knew from the start that you were going, but you could not bear to see your loved ones mourn your impending passing so you kept up the front. You loved and cared to the very end.

You are now free of your great burden of cares for the underlings of this world that you carried on your broad shoulders.

Via con Dios, Oh Friend of the poor! May chariots of purity take you to your next existence, and may there be Angels of love and mercy tending and guiding your big loving soul.

The greatest measure of failure is not having tried. I commend President Hugo Chavez for his attempts to eleviate the poor and down trodden from the shackles of Capitalism and Imperialism. I commend this man – for having such an impact that way overshadowed his small country.

I commend Chavez for caring enough about the poor to actually TRY to do something about it. He tried, he tried, he tried. And any friend fo the poor and one who opposises Capitalism is a friend of mine.

Too many are gaing wealthy on the back and at the expense of the poor. I abhor these people and these nationas where the distance between the poor and the rich is too grand to be measured.

This is not what love thy neighbour is about

Some of us really do not know how to sympathize…this man had a family, had friends who genuinely cared for him besides being a public figure!!! if you have nothing good to say then please let well wishers express themselves positively! Prayers go out to you with the hope that your mezzier will stop. smh

A man who wanted the best for people of African descent. A man who wanted african descent to have a better life. A man who fought to improve the life of the poor, a good friend to Dominica. Yes a sad loss to people of the African descent.

    • Sorry...
      March 5, 2013

True words but unfortunately and sadly, there are people who never appreciated what he did for people of African decent.
