EU parliament recognizes Guaido as Venezuelan interim president

The European parliament today voted overwhelmingly to recognize Venezuela’s self-declared interim president Juan Guaido as de facto head of state, according to Reuters.
EU lawmakers voted 439 in favor to 104 against, with 88 abstentions, at a special session in Brussels to recognize Venezuelan congress head Guaido as interim leader.
The vote is non-binding, but the parliament urged the bloc’s 28 governments to consider Guaido “the only legitimate interim president” until there are “new free, transparent and credible presidential elections”. They join the United States, Canada and Mexico in supporting Guaido—who declared himself interim president last Wednesday—and pressing for President Nicolas Maduro, who was sworn in for a second consecutive term earlier this month, to step down.
Britain, France, Germany and Spain said last Saturday that they would recognize Guaido unless Maduro called elections within eight days.
Guaido said the recognition by the European Parliament represented a “great step” towards the fight for democracy in Venezuela.

The EU parliament cannot recognize Hillary Clinton as president, because Trump had nothing to do in supervising the election process. He was not even a councillor in a village council. It was a Democrat in office during the elections,Obama, and he said during the campaign ” THe way it is structured,no one can interfer in our elections.” although they (the democrats) have been playing every dirty tricks they know of to delegitimized his presidency. You remember all the demonstrations and so-called Russia made him win allegations? But the voters are more powerful.

Caricom was too divided to put some sense into this delima; so we left it in the hands of the EU. Shame on us!!!

Venezuela is headed to civil war in 2019 unless something positive happens very soon, unfortunately foreign troops may have to get involved and the bloodshed will be massive. If foreign troops get involved they need to be from Caribbean and Latin American countries like Argentina, Colombia, Brazil etc. and not the US and Britain. Troops from the US and Britain would be used for propaganda purposes, people would say all they want is the oil.

Unlike what the dictator Maduro implied that there is a coup orchestrated by the US, this is a vote recognizing Guaido as president until there is FAIR elections in Venezuela. Here in Dominica, we have not had fair elections since Skerrit became PM, due to the importation of illegal voters. We can sympathize with the people of Venezuela because we face the same plight.

DominIcans what does that tell you? It says that this could be applied here… Lenox linton should be recognized as the legitimate leader of the country until there is fair elections in that country … Lenox do like guaido call your people out and protest until u get fair election

    • February 1, 2019

Don’t be stupid, Franky. What LENNOX needs to do is to pay Pinard all of his money he owes the man. From what I can see, Skerrit is doing a great job back home. Keep dreaming. Lennox will never be the Prime Minister of Dominica. Lennox is no Maurice Bishop nor is Joshua Francis.

Doc Doc Skerrit hear that, “Guaido “the only legitimate interim president” until there are “new free, transparent and credible presidential elections”. They join the United States, Canada and Mexico in supporting Guaido” Be careful you are next. As the saying goes, when your friend’s beard is on fire take some water and sprinkle yours- because it might just be next—– just a word to the wise.

    • February 1, 2019

Do not be stupid, Sir. Whoever is the new President, like all other countries do, we recognize the new President. Skerrit has no problems with that. Just as you need to recognize Skerrit as the Prime Minster of Dominica and you also. Do you have a problem with that – recognizing Skerrit as your Prime Minister. I guess you wont until you find yourself one day at the Red Clinic. Right?

So the US, Canada, the EU all recognize Juan Guaido , as interim President of Venezuela, while Dictator countries like Russia and China recognize their fellow dictator Maduro as President. In other words, those that believe in democracy recognize Juan Guaido while all dictators recognize Maduro off course. So the big question is, WHO DOES DOMINICA recognize? Before Skerrit use to talk about his support for Maduro but during this crisis the man is SILENT! What happened to you Skerrit? Why you not talking? What you afraid of? Come on man, The PM of Antigua , St Kitts & Nevis, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Vincent, St. Lucia are all speaking out except you Skerrit that acting like someone that is hiding and do not want people to know where you are. WE NEED TO HEAR PM SKERRIT!!!

Why doesn’t the EU parliament recognize Hillary Clinton as the president of America? Seem like the Venezuela gold and oil got them all doltish. If those countries do not attempt to impose their will in other countries this world would be a better place. Thank goodness Russia is looking on and that has them keeping their distance. I am not a fan of china however I am glad that china, Russia and others have America and her allies looking in from a distance.

Venezuela is in America’s backyard, I don’t see America having any issues fighting the rest of the world so close to home. Keep in mind that all the wars that America has taken part in are always thousand of miles away. In Iraq and Afghanistan the enemy blends inn with the civilians so it’s like fighting a ghost enemy. With that said I think that America and the European union should stay out of foreign countries issues since they have caused more misery in countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya etc.

Juan Guaido is not a self declared interim President and has never declared himself so. He was labeled. He is a member of the Venezuelan Congress and is neutral. The people are protesting the illegal take over by Maduro.. The previous election was a farce. Guaido is trying to right the situation and give the people an actual chance to vote and not having their votes either cancelled or being coerced into voting for Maduro.

Reasons why in the past, 2005, 2009 and 2014 the unfair elections in Dominica should never be allowed to stand…Maduro is a coward, he intimidated, jailed and terrorised, teargassed opposition members. Watch the similarity here at home ..Israel Khan told us he thought that election was in September, so he wants that case involved Patriot Linton to be heard ASAP…You all can remember the stalled truck coup? Skerrit thought the speakers would leave the stalled truck and storm the financial centre, and dethrone him.Unadulterated illiteracy from an idiotic PM. I guess Dominica,Yemen,Iran ,North Korea, etc, etc, etc, are on wicked and dictatorial Maduros side.People need free and Fair elections everywhere..Corrupt politicians should be jailed in very dark cells!!!!
    Maduro Must Go

    Lazy Maduro Must Go Now

The opposition parties in Dominica should take note. I strongly suggest if the electoral reform that were recommended in Dominica are not put in place before the general elections is called no opposition member should contest the general election. Advise the people not to vote let skerrit get his landslide with villecase people. Demand the government drop charges against the opposition members who were falsley accused of starting a coup. That way the elections will be seen for what it is a sham. That would force him put the reforms in place. The world will see him for what he is and with his link with Venezuela his true intentions will be exposed. You dont have to throw one stone. With all this going arround i say now is the perfect time do not be afraid. Roosevelt Skerrit is a dictator and if i was Russian and Venezuelan intelligence i would not trust him because he may be US spy. If war start the US gov come get his kids. Boy our people real stupid!!!! Smdh
