First ever image of black hole revealed

First ever image released of a black hole is taken from a galaxy called M87 that is about 53 million light years from Earth.

The first ever image made of a black hole was released on Wednesday, according to Associated Press.

The image was made possible by the observation of eight radio telescopes positioned around the world under the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) Collaboration – a 10 year project.

After this much anticipation and effort and the reactions have been nothing short of dramatic in the scientific community.

“We have seen what we thought was unseeable. We have seen and taken a picture of a black hole. Here it is,” said Sheperd Doeleman of Harvard.

Jessica Dempsey, a co-discoverer and deputy director of the East Asian Observatory in Hawaii, said it reminded her of the powerful flaming Eye of Sauron from the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

    Nac Vibes:
Religion teaches us, within its context, how God wants us to live our lives. Science explains to us what God has created.

Joseph John: hope this will satisfy your curiosity as to why it is important for you, and especially our children to be interested in scientific research and discoveries like:
“Scientists experimenting with an innovative treatment for cancer have now devised a targeted injection that has already successfully eliminated tumors in mice.

    Thank you DNO the information:

This is incredible stuff!!! To put in perspective. The circumfrence or distance around earth is about 24, 901 miles. We know how long it takes to get around. One light year is the distance light travels in one year. Thats 5,879,000,000,000 miles. Talking trillions (5.879 X10^12). 53 million light years would be 53,000,000 ×(5.879 X10^12) miles. That crazy far and mind boggling. When you think of this you will realize we are nothing but microscopic organisms in this universe. Science is amazing.

      Good stuff :)

Shaka, even more amazing is the One who wove this mind blowing, inter-galactic tapestry together. Science is indeed fantastic with its perpetual and fascinating revelations; however, nothing or no one will ever come close to matching the knowledge, power and might of the Creator who determines what gets revealed and when.

lol..smh!!, people are taught to speak that way.
The difference is that what Shak Zulu said is rational and verifiable with hard facts.
The dogmatic view of a creator is subjective and not necessarily truth, just as other civilizations have their own interpretations of the origins of the Universe..

some of the questions that come to mind are :
    where are black holes located
what causes black holes to form
    how does black holes form
what does a black hole do

Blackholes are at the middle of every galaxy.
      A galaxy
      I don’t know, a collapse of a supernova ? I think?
Nothing, they just absorb everything in their path an spin.

You should watch a documentary on space/blackholes

      Got this on CNN:

      What is a black hole?
A black hole is a region of space from which nothing, not even light, can escape

Despite the name, they are not empty but instead consist of a huge amount of matter packed densely into a small area, giving it an immense gravitational pull

There is a region of space beyond the black hole called the event horizon. This is a “point of no return”, beyond which it is impossible to escape the gravitational effects of the black hole

So DNO what is the black hole ? What is its significance and why should we be interested in it.
    Why the halfway news ?

Are you satisfied with being ignorant? Is there no room in your mind to wonder?
Would you be content with looking up at the moon and not knowing what it is?
      Or what the stars are?
Do you not thirst for the knowledge of the ancients? of the sight of the all fathers? or the wisdom of the Gods?
If I asked you who is Kim Kardashian could you answer me? What if I asked you what is a Quasar?
Yet you grind and gnash your teeth at knowledge, forced upon you.

Science is one hell of a thing. Who knows maybe one day we MIGHT even be able to go back in time.

      April 10, 2019

@Kermit – While science is indeed interesting, let’s not forget that science to a large extent is really man trying to explain the things that he/she observe in the universe, the world etc.

In many instances, man then attempts to reverse engineer what he sees or extract ideas discovered in nature in order to come up with some invention.

      • April 11, 2019

        @Channel 1 April 10, 2019

I like your interpretation! That is the problem with man. He, himself, is God’s creation; he doesn’t even understand how it happened, but he is constantly trying to intervene with the rest if God’s creation for his benefit, which never happens, or takes ages to happen–only if God knows He Power will be glorified through that certain revelation

Year right, how many trillion miles away yet we taking pictures of black holes, we can’t even take a real picture of Earth yet we taking pictures of the supposedly darkest thing in the universe. All pictures you see of the Globe Earth are composites, not actual.
Like how all the military in Antarctica stopping people going there, all of this to deny the existence of God.
