Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor dies of heart failure

LOS ANGELES (BNO NEWS) — Actress Elizabeth Taylor, often hailed as one of the greatest actresses of the 20th century, died at a hospital in southern California on early Wednesday morning, her publicist said. She was 79.

Publicist Sally Morrison said Taylor died at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles on Wednesday as a result of congestive heart failure. “She was surrounded by her children Michael Wilding, Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd, and Maria Burton,” she said.

Taylor had been hospitalized about six weeks ago as a result of the congestive heart failure, which she has been struggling with for several years. “Though she had recently suffered a number of complications, her condition had stabilized and it was hoped that she would be able to return home. Sadly, this was not to be,” Morrison said.

The actress, who became notorious for her seven marriages, won her first Academy Award for Best Actress in 1960 for her performance as Gloria Wandrous in BUtterfield 8, which also co-starred her then-husband Eddie Fisher.

Taylor won her second Academy Award for Best Actress in 1966 for her performance as Martha in Who’s Afraid of the Virginia Woolf? Ironically, Taylor’s then-husband Richard Burton also co-starred in that movie.

In a statement released after Taylor’s death, her son Michael Wilding called his mother an “extraordinary woman” who lived life to the fullest with great passion, humor, and love. “Though her loss is devastating to those of us who held her so close and so dear, we will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world,” he said.

Wilding added: “Her remarkable body of work in film, her ongoing success as a businesswoman, and her brave and relentless advocacy in the fight against HIV/AIDS, all make us all incredibly proud of what she accomplished. We know, quite simply, that the world is a better place for Mom having lived in it. Her legacy will never fade, her spirit will always be with us, and her love will live forever in our hearts.”

A private family funeral for Taylor is expected to be held later this week, but a public memorial service is also expected.

    Elizabeth Taylor

You have had your time; you have had the time to live and now the time came when you should die. The record shows that you took the blows, and you lived your Life to the full, in all the ways you could.

Jesus once said to the Sadducees, God is not the God of the dead, but He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This means God remembers those who have passed away in the body, but with a soul which was alive, in that same body.

I have never heard anything bad of you, Liz Taylor. And I pray that your body passed away with a soul which was alive. I pray that you are one, who has fallen alseep in death, but God will continue to remember you; that God will continue to be your God, untill your glorious resurrection in Jesus Christ. God’s speed my lady, my gogo as well.

Who do you think you are, a medium? Judge of the dead? The woman is dead, and you’re addressing her as if you’re giving an elegy, when it’s likely that no one remotely associated with her will see your post. Just because you’re on the Internet doesn’t mean the world is seeing or cares to see your thoughts.

If you liked her work, great. But there’s no need to lay her to rest like some kind of clergyperson. I appreciate your sentiments, some of them, but religion doesn’t need to come into play here.

And you think the world us seeing and cares to see your thoughts, and your objections, huh!!!!!!

Have you ever heard of a eulogy? I won’t bother to tell you what that is either. But most people who speak those words speak to a person who is in their cofin. It is almost never coming from a clergyperson, and also, the sentiments from the person doing the eulogy refers to the person in the cofin as “you” since that person in the coffin must be thought of as being alive in Spirit.

Jesus said: “I am the resurection and the Life. He who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live”. But you do not understand that, do you? Otherwise you would view my sentiment as having anything to with religion.

Please, I will certainly not be judged by you or your likes. Our heavenly father and king, the one with the power will be the judge all of us. In the mean time live well and let your works seen and be a model for others to follow.
