Jail term for Haitian who sets daughter ablaze in voodoo ritual

A New York judge has sentenced a Haitian mother to 17 years in jail after she set her six-year-old daughter ablaze in a voodoo ritual. Queens Supreme Court Justice Richard Buchter scolded Marie Lauradin for lying to police and probation officers about how her daughter, Frantzcia Saintil, was set on fire, leaving her with life-altering scars over 25 per cent of her body.

After her February 2009 arrest, Lauradin told police she accidentally spilled a pot of boiling water on the child when the youngster came up from behind her.

    Pagan beliefs = pagan actions

Beliefs influence thoughts and actions…keep that in mind people. When you have pagan beliefs, pagan cultures evolve which are very dangerous in any society.

As for that mother, yeah she needed serious jail time. You cannot execute her because the daughter is still alive.

Dear editor, your new lay-out features fewer stories but has repeats that we have not seen before. This particular news item is repetaed three times on the same page. Is this by design? in my humbel opinion this must reduce reader appeal and therefore result in reduced advertising exposure. Best wishes.

    ADMIN
    Best wishes to you too.

Sorry ADMIN but I have to agree.

The new lay out is naff. I know that you have to make changes, but they should be for the better and more appealing.

Well I am very sure that looking at the site one will notice that the top news are the latest news and that the rest are categorized; therefore a story like this will be seen three times due to it being a latest news, and categorized in court and crime. Besides, there are also several news in the different categories. This will not decrease readers’ appeal- well unless you cannot understand how easily navigate a web page (web-page navigating 101).
      Best wishes to you too!

      ADMIN
You give me hope that there are still sensible people around.

WELL WE CAN NAVIGATE AND WE CAN TELL THAT THE STORIES ARE IN CATEGORIES, THAT DOESNT LESSON THE FACT THAT IT ISSS ANNOYING…AND I GET THE FEELING THAT THERE IS MORE ADVERTISING ON THE MAIN PAGE THAN NEWS. I KNOW YOU GUYS HAVE TO MAKE YOUR MONEY BUT YOU COULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE REPEATED STORIES. BEFORE WE COULD ACCESS DIFFERENT STORIES FROM THE MAIN PAGE BUT NOT ANYMORE. NEGATIVE CRITICISM IS GOOD WHEN YOU CAN TAKE IT. WE ARE THE ONES LOOKING AT THE SITE REGULARLY, IF WE SAY SOMETHING TO YOU THERE IS NO NEED TO ANSWER BACK BY SAYING “BEST WISHES TO YOU” WHAT IS BEING SAID ISNT BEING SAID TO HURT ANYONE, OR TO LET ANYONE FEEL LESS ADEQUATE OR TO SAY THAT THE JOB WASNT DONE PROPERLY, IT IS JUST BEING SAID SO THAT YOU GOOD IMPROVE THE SITE. WITHOUT THE PEOPLE LOGGIN ON DNO WOULD BE NOTHING…REMEMBER THAT…

We are talking about instant reader appeal, not the logic behind the new lay-out and the ability to navigate a web page! I would submit that the general public are not techno nerds and not interested in these “logics”.
