What is so surprising about the violence in Scarborough Toronto?

Criminals are everywhere, if in a small community such as ours, talking about Dominica now, we have so much crimes, unsolved murders, rape, thievery, and family killing their family and we are not complaining, we are not doing anything to resolve our problems in Dominica, why should one be so concern about criminal behavior in Canada?

From Guyana, to Trinidad, South, to Jamaica in the North of the Caribbean people get killed everyday, and remember criminals do travel.

A criminal does not chose when and wheere he/she should commit a crime.

They operate off instincts like animals, they have no control; in their rage and anger if their mother gets in the way they will kill her also.

I remember in the Village of Ceadar Grove in Antigua, a young guy when he was about seventeen years old killed his father simply because his father drank a cup of cornmeal purage, the thing we call pap, he had left over.

One simply have to chose their company these days, and pray it does not happen to them, my son got caught in a drive by shooting; he was just standing outside on the lawn with a pile of people in a Party in East Los Angeles, when he was gunned down.

They had to cut him open, and took all his intestine, and internal organs out in order to remove fragments of bullets out of his body.

He survived; my brother Inspector Almoore Robin gunned down in Antigua Killed; what was his crime?

He was simply standing in small candy shop drinking a beer, when four kids went in to rob the owner.

In Antigua again, a little cousin of mine grand daughter of Frederick Telemaque, raped, and murdered, the animals who raped her broke every bone in her body in the process.

Not too long ago my nephew was killed right there at home in Wesley, his throat slashed, his murderer is still walking the streets of Dominica.

So, what happened in Scrabroah is nothing more than a picnic to what is happing in our own Dominica, and the rest of the Caribbean.

Sadness seems to follow you everywhere, Mr Francisco Etiene-Dods Telemaque. The time you take to write these essays on DNO could be spent praying that lost souls stay away from your beloved. The news is surprising because Canada has a significantly lower crime rate than the US and the Caribbean. Surely, an educated, knowledgeable and pristine man such as yourself would know this.

    • July 19, 2012

      @FETelemaque

We do not say Scarborough, Toronto; for they are both cities in Southern Ontario. Hence we say Scarborough, Ontario; Just as you would say Los Angeles, California

The cornmeal “porridge” not “purage” And at my home in Dominica we called it just that–not “pap” Pap was something they would make with “flour”, not even “arrowroot” We call it by its name also.

What happened in “Scrabroah” should read “Scarborough” Ayelass! Those years of yours are really giving you a lot of trouble. Lol!

Liz, I know when you write something no matter what name you use; your trademark is always within.

Anonymous, I pray everyday, I am a firm believer in Jesus, and his father Jehovah, as result I am able to survive life atrocities, I’ve been around for a long time, if were to get personal and detail the problems that I have been through in this life, would wonder how come I am still alive.

Let me tell you when I was thirteen years old a dynamite exploded in my right hand, in that incident I ended with two amputated fingers on my right hand.

I am a man who was driving in my car, when caught on fire and simply blew up, I survived with burns over my body, one can scarcely recognized the burn marks today, I am a man who got caught between the closing doors of a moving passenger train in Hamburg Germany, in 1976, okay, and survived.

God is my protector, trust me, hopefully, if I ever finish my book, what you read in it will amaze you!

And by the way, I know the difference between Toronto and Ontario, believe it or not every summer, I hang out at a place on Ferris Road, next side of Victoria is Scarborough, Daws runs East and West of Ferris Road, I do not wish to burden my Dominica relatives in Toronto or my Antigua side of my family in Mississauga, there is a nice Hotel in Brampton, just of Steals, I usually go there and relax.

The only reason am not in Toronto right this minute is because I am doing some renovation on one of my properties, and I am conducting the repairs myself. Every summer I spend two and a half days driving from Los Angeles to Toronto.

I do not know about the other accidents, but I think you forgot to tell Anonymous that it was your own fault with that dynamite, oui! Lol!

This is to showw us Dominicans that all over the world has crimminals. In a place like that where there is a large police department, this crime still happened. We have to understand that there are people who are not happy, and they want o make sure that everybody else fells the same way. The have no regards for human life, or for family, they don’t even pretend to come together, because their sole aim, is to put fear into others, and create havoc.

It is a pity that innicent people ate the one getting hurt, but those who live by the gun alays die by the gun. Jehovah God is not a policeman, He sees everything, and the evil that cimminals do lives with them.

Late last evening while I was on DNO’s Website the news was broadcasted of this situation. I was shocked. I reside some blocks away from this area which is within walking distance. At first I thought it was on the street where I reside. To my knowledge, this area is a quiet area and a safe one. In this City, when we least expect it, no one knows where those criminals will strike. It is shocking what occurred last night. What also saddens me is that a fourteen year-old was shot. She died. Poor child. How the family are grieving her sudden loss. My heart goes out to them.
It was a community get-together summer party. I heard that there was an argument. Whoever thought this would have happened? There are some people who are incapable of conversing, arguing and disagreeing without pulling out a gun and injuring and murdering others. Something is wrong with those people.
Those thugs do not care and have no respect for the life of people. One day they will meet their fate, be it in Hell.
At times as these government officials make all sorts of statements, that they will ensure this will never happen. So much for them. This has been occurring for years and is escalating. With all their talk as I have heard many times, such criminal activities have not subsided. I do think that it is high time for some concrete action.
I will do my utmost to write my MP and MPP including the Mayor and provide my views. All law-abiding people who specifically reside in Toronto must do their part if they want to keep Toronto safe and restore it to what it was previously. Enough talk and more action.
I just heard that there was another shooting tonight.
This summer as last year is another hot and humid one. I suppose that some people allow the heat to go to their head. It may be time for the wintry and cold days but we still have a few more months to go. As time flies, it will come.

    • July 19, 2012

This has nothing to do with the hot summer, the temperature is beautiful. All we need is a tree with huge branches; it is easy to find one no matter where we live.

The problem with human beings all over the world is that they enter this world with a carnal which never goes into it renewal state, so that that mind might learn to process and produce the fruits of Love–which the traits of Life.

As long as the human senses continues to overwhelm the mind with it seeds of futility, that is what this mind will process and produce the end result is always death–both spiritually and physically.

People of today’s generation do not know the walk of Life, because they do not the God of Love, who gives Life–the exist with the state of emptiness and death.

And so they continue in their walk of emptiness and death–searching for fulfillment in this world, but Jesus, who is the giver of Life and fulfillment tells us that we must not belong to the world, if we desire to live. Today’s generation do not care about knowing Jesus, how can they know the things of Life?

      • July 19, 2012

        Correction:

        (1) which are the traits of Life

        (2) that is what this mind will process and produce, the end result is always death—-

        (3) the exist with the state of emptiness and death

THE GUN HAS NO RACE AND THE BULLET DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE.

Bullets will kill old people and children, will kill black white asian hispanic. In this sad sad sad case – a 14 year old black girl was shot and a 23 year old filipino.

There is evil in the world. We are not born killers. Can you look into the eyes of a baby and see a killer’s soul? No. They were taught to hate – taught that it is okay to kill. We all need to learn to lead with love and have the children follow the lead.

    • July 17, 2012

      @Anonymous

I agree with your suggestion that Life is precious–please notice that I wrote it with a capital “L” Yes indeed! Life is extremely precious

“Life” I say, because I know that this precious “stature of existence” is from God Almighty, who is Love and He blesses us with the seed of Love–the Life that is Light to the soul of man by his channel of Faith in the Son, Jesus Christ.

This Light is the Light that overcome the darkness of man’s mind, removing him from his carnal state, the state of mind which cannot comprehend the ways of Life which is from our God of Love. That is why man is searching for fulfillment in this world, but he will not find it here–that kind of fulfilment belongs in the Life of Jesus Christ

And so, as mankind remain conformed to the system of this world they are not living the Life, which you suggested is so precious.

Those people know the pleasures of the world–many will even claim happiness as the exist with vanity and worldly pleasure, but happiness is a short lived mood–it cannot be compared with joy and peace, which is of Love–the Light in us which our Life.

The apostle John tells us that “The lust of the eyes and the lust of the flesh, and the pride of existence, is not of the Father but it is of the world.

God knows that we, who are His people, must live in the world, but until His appointed time, when He will remove the corruption and abomination, from among us, in this world.

So until then, we ought not to belong to the world, unless we have chosen not to belong to God. But woe be unto us who makes that choice of not wanting to belong to God.

So am I. For this reason I have not been attending and participating in Caribana for years. I did play Mass a few times when I first arrived in Toronto but not today. As much as I would like to, I do not participate in boat cruises and other dances due to these criminal activities. Those who feel brave enough do not allow those crimes to deter them. I stick to private parties where I know the people and all of us are law-abiding people. No gun-totting, shootings, drug dealing and addicts and murders at that family-friendly at close-nit friends’ parties, dinners and BBQ’s. I do my utmost to play it safe. God protects those who protect themselves.

      • July 18, 2012

        @Justice and Truth

I understand what you are saying here, except that you mentioned “as much as I would like to”

I discovered years ago, when Jesus comes to live with a person, He doesn’t come with two hands swinging–so to speak. He brings everything that is needed to make sure that person will live the Life of Love by faith in God Almighty, through Him.

I am saying that when Jesus came to live with me He brought me Life; and from the day I became sensitive to that Stature of Life in me, I also began to lost interest in everything that is worldly–including the passions or lust of the flesh. Today I am free at last! Praise the Lord!

Therefore it is not that I am making myself “not wanting to participate” in the pleasures like Caribana and everything that happens during that celebration–up until 1990 I did not miss anything that happened on Caribana weekend.

But Life in Jesus Christ means the fulfilment of Love, with that satisfaction the things of the world means nothing–I am just not interested; and it has been so for since about 22 years ago.

Many people believe that existing with God in their Life is a dull existence, I used to think so myself. But Jesus has told us when we live with Him, He teaches us the Truth, which makes us “free” I just love that beautiful freedom!

Oh by the way this is the same “me” I hope you will understand that.

The only people race of people I call Canadians are the Natives, all others white, black, yellow red all came to Canada be it as a refugee, immigrant or whatever, i would like to inform you that blacks are not the only ones committing crimes in Canada

        July 17, 2012

But this ONE was committed by Black people. Stop sticking your heads in the sand. We have some serious problems in black communities throughout North America. Until we face up to it and stop making excuses like “everyone else is committing crime” we will never get anywhere.

Go to any court house in any of the major cities and you will see the majority of the people there are young black males. Then take a walk around any university campus and see how many of our young black men you see.

We have a problem whether you want to recognize it or not.

        Dominica/Montreal

Nice saying here. I agree with you all the way.

I am Dominican but I have lived in Toronto for 38 years now. I spent time in high school and College here, so like you, I know about Canada as well.

In High School I learned that Canada’s culture is like a Salad bowl–but I believe that there is much more different cultures in Canada than what we have in a Salad bowl.

So the only true Canadians are the Native people–who are settled mostly in the Yukon territories.

And one more thing! The news article did not mention race, color, or creed in the details, so why are Dominicans suggesting that blacks or the Caribbean are responsible.

My son lives just one block away from the venue of that shooting incident. I use the TTC bus to go to him; there are all sorts of people heading to that venue and over it–however white skin people always dominate.

I guarantee that if that incident had happened among a dominant “black people” the news article would mention it.

Why did you get thumbs down? You asked a question which is the truth.
A young man who died has Chinese features. I am wondering if he is of Trinidad or Jamaican descent. I will hear more on this.
I heard on the News he wanted to be involved in fighting crimes as being a Law Enforcement Officer. I also heard that he and a friend recently opened a barber shop in the area where he resides. He did not reside in that area where he died. He resides miles away, in another suburb. Obviously, he knew some of the people who attended this street party.
I also heard that he said, “Sundays is for going to Church.” Therefore, he was a church-going person. It is so sad. May his soul rest in peace. Amen!

You need to get your facts right before you start condemning Caribbean people, right now many of the killings taking place in Canada/Vancouver Toronto and some other cities, Somalians gangs members are responsible for it

What they are doing is going around, imitating the Jamaicans slang killing and committing all sorts of crimes, only when caught to many surprise them crimes are being committed by them

They killing them like flies in Calgary, Edmonton and elsewhere so you blaming Caribbean people, you remind me of the whites and others in Canada as soon as a crime is committed they blame it on Jamaicans, get all the facts before stereotyping Caribbean people
