Only ‘large-scale war’ would allow US to block Beijing from S. China Sea islands, state media warns

Chinese state media has warned that the US would have to launch a “large-scale war” to prevent Beijing from accessing islands it has built in the South China Sea. It comes after secretary of state nominee Rex Tillerson said such access should be restricted.

“Unless Washington plans to wage a large-scale war in the South China Sea, any other approaches to prevent Chinese access to the islands will be foolish,” the state-sanctioned Global Times newspaper wrote on its English-language website.

It went on to stress that the US “has no absolute power to dominate the South China Sea,” warning that Tillerson “had better bone up on nuclear power strategies if he wants to force a big nuclear power to withdraw from its own territories.”

The article also said that China has so far “shown restraint” when Trump’s cabinet picks have expressed “radical views,” as the president-elect has not yet been sworn in. However, it stressed that the US “should not be misled into thinking that Beijing will be fearful of their threats.”

China has been known to give gifts to – and do favors for – smaller nations in an effort to establish a relationship and establish trust.

However if we want to see the real China we need look no further than behold its human rights violations against its own citizens, and how it has treated outsiders who have visited their country. Now we see China taking an illicit interest in the South China Sea. Legal ownership is of no concern to the Government of China. All that matters to them is their ability to take possession.

Now see how brazen the dragon is. They have actually served notice to the USA that they are ready to fight a major war to protect their South China Sea Interests.

On what side would Dominica be? I hope your P.M. will be diligent enough to know China is not his friend regardless of what it does for Dominica. Some favors might be better politely refused.

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill.

      There they go again.

It is easier to hit the thumbs down button than show me one statement I wrote that is incorrect. It is also unfair because it does not give me an opportunity to learn and I am not able to correct myself.

It shows people are more anxious not to be proven wrong than they are to be right.

In this case it demonstrates an ignorance of China and a do not care attitude that is actually dangerous.
This is the mentality that starts wars.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill.

Haha this is rich. China has “shown restraint” by actively engaging in aggressive territorial policies (much the same like how Venezuela has occupied our Bird Island) but just because certain (so far unconfirmed) members of the US government expressed certain views they’re getting paranoid?

Their state media is basically threatening war but just because someone makes a statement (a very valid one to be honest) they’re getting all bent out of shape. Sounds like the all powerful China is feeling a little shaky right now

Well, we often asked the U.S to left the embargo on Cuba, because the U.N.say so. Or Israel to give their land which they owned for over 2700 years to the Palestinians, because permanent members of the security council voted for that at the U.N.
Now the Arbitration Tribunal in the Hague, which is an international body, of which China is a founding member has told China this act is illegal.Members of this U.N should see to it that China discontinue,.What about the other countries who are claiming the area? Does China sticking to the motto “Might is right?” Because the U.S. had a weak leader for the pass 8 years Russia,China and others are playing bully. Well, the U.S.can declare the area as international waters.

They claiming land, sea and sky. But my bible tells me, that the earth is the Lord’s, and they that dwell therein. Man is a stupid creature. He was created well; But has made himself to be a god. God is rounding up all dem bad boys; Their blood shall rise high on the earth, up to a horse’s bridle. God is coming people.

We can have a good fight without nuclear weapons. But if China cannot control its backyard it will get desparate. Still, they are buying up the whole world, so at some point they will have to protect their property.
Could the next world war be for a gulf or golf course?
