Stanford sues US for US$7.2 billion

HOUSTON, Texas — Texas billionaire banker Allen Stanford, accused of masterminding a US$7.2 billion Ponzi scheme, involving his Antigua-owned Stanford International Bank (SIB), is suing United States government agents who built the case against him for a similar amount.

The suit, filed in federal district court here says the agents — including federal prosecutors, FBI agents and regional officials of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) —conspired to deprive Stanford of his constitutional rights.

The lawsuit says the agents violated Stanford’s rights to due process and effective counsel, as well as constitutional prohibitions against unreasonable search and seizure and excessive fines.

Many of your commentators are pretty naive. Do you not do your research before you write ? If you do you will realise that Stanford ran a very effective Ponzi scheme. His assistants are all in jail. Stop feeling sorry for the man because you see him in a jail outfot. You should sympathise with all the retirees who lost their investments. Ask Justin, the D/A what he thinks.

Stanford – from rags to riches and riches to rags and imprisonment. Stanford has the nerve to sue the US government. Shame on him. He is just playing for time.
Stanford did not primarily steal anyone’s money? How do we know? The man is from Texas. Figure this out.
Some people assume that Stanford is a good person who helped others. How much did you read about him specifically since his arrest and prison incarceration? Did you read the entire story? You must read it and cease blaming the FBI and US for his arrest and exonerating him from crime. The US and FBI know more than Dominicans who specifically reside in Dominica know.
He lived a lavish life off the avails of investors’ funds. As they invested he used their money to pay other investors. This is a ponzi scheme and a crime. It was not his money. It was only a matter of time that investors would most certainly lose all and even Stanford himself would have fallen.
I had my reservations when I read that he was investing in Antigua. I thought, where did he get all that money from, posing as a millionaire in Antigua.
I think he wanted to take the vulnerable and gullible Caribbean/West Indies by storm and by crook.
Do you ever give it a thought and question why some of them migrate to the West Indies with all that money? These people need to be investigated prior to West Indians placing their confidence in them as rich-looking people of status.
Thank God he did not have the opportunity to invest in Dominica. God preserved Dominicans from being deceived. Be thankful to God that he was caught.
Stanford has some well-paid lawyers who will defend him and try to make the world feel that he is an innocent person who was wrongfully accused. They will do their utmost to exonerate him. Money which can be the root of all evil talks extremely loud and is capable of deceiving.
Just keep in mind, to the enlightened they know better. So does God of all who knows better than anyone else, who knows sees and hears all things, whom nothing is hidden from, whom no one can hide from, He who does not deceive and canst be deceived. Thanks be to God.

Do you know this saying? “Who knows what lurks in the heart of man/woman?”
Whatever other evil people do that is between themselves and God. Do not compare them to Stanford and vice versa. Stanford has to pay for his evil actions.
The topic here is Stanford and also those whom he deceived – not other people who are not the topic of this article.
Some of you appear not to know the difference of good and evil. You need to learn about that.
There is still no room for excuses. Evil is unacceptable. Many have suffered financially, physically, have lived in fear and have also lost their lives due to the evil actions of such people.
      We need to think beyond.
There is a tendency for some people to applaud evil. Their reaction of condoning evil and to such stories are not that of good people who possess good hearts. Our actions also speak louder than our words.
People do not steal from Paul to pay Peter or to give others, s the saying goes. Even though it is to make those lives a better one, stealing is a sin. Thou shalt not steal whatsoever.
There are evil people who to the limited human mind appear to perform good works. This can be meant to deceive others, to cover-up their evil actions and make belief that they are good people so that they will never be questioned, never doubted and not caught while rejoicing about the gullibility of those whom they are deceiving and who are too blind to detect it. These are the traits of deceivers.
Evil must not be exalted. Those who do evil/commit crimes in whatever manner should never be exonerated from their evil works. Evil works come from the devil. It does not come from God.
The only way they should be exonerated, if this is acceptable, they must humbly be sorrowful for their actions and make restitution to those whom they harmed and most of all to God, in order to appease God Himself. This is why there is a Law of the land and a prison.
Some people do not consider that when they do evil, if caught by the Law of the land, they will have to face earthly punishment. Most of all what they do is written in either the Eternal Book of Life or Book of Death. One way or the other they will be caught. They will not escape.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said: Matthew 5:48 – “…So be perfect just as your Heavenly Father is perfect.”
Therefore, consider that He who is all holy and pure will never condone evil; never make excuses for us; never accept accuses and never exonerate anyone from evil acts.
The Lord has spoken loud and clear. He said: “Hear and understand. Those who have ears ought to hear.” I like to add, eyes to see and read. His commands are to be obeyed. Otherwise, there is a penalty for disobeying Him. The result of this is also the final eternal detriment and fate for those who commit evil and continue doing so with no intentions of ceasing their evil actions and without making restitution to God of all.
Those who condone and applaud it and make excuses for those who commit evil may very well meet the same fate. Keep in mind The Words and Teachings of The Lord. Never encourage, condone, be complacement with, make excuses and applaud evil.
All Christians should be fully aware of that. We must be fair and just people and note what harm has been done to people because of the evil actions of others.

Stanford is just a pawn in the grand ponzi game. His crime? He wasn’t too subservient to the wishes of his “handlers,” and so they had to get rid of him. Otherwise, he is no more illegal than is George Soros.

How about Bernie Madoff? Is he innocent too? What do you think?

Sanford will not come back from this. He will be lucky if he gets out of jail alive, much less returning to his glory days.

    • Gabo
      February 20, 2011

One is not the other. Bernie Madoff made off with people’s money, used it on himself and his family, and his company collapsed. This man had a vibrant business going that was seized. He used his wealth to help others. Its like comparing chalk and cheese.

      • Arnold
        February 21, 2011

lmao… Allen Sanford did the same thing… Ponzi scheme, Ponzi scheme, Ponzi scheme, Ponzi scheme!

    • Truth, Justice, Love, Peace and Unity
      February 21, 2011

During a relevant conversation about Bernie Madoff someone stated: “Bernie will rot in prison.” One hundred and fifty years for him. Obviously, he will never survive those years. Is it not sad that some people lived such lavish lives and now they are imprisoned for life? They are reduced to nothing. It is indeed a lesson for all. Yet, there are some who will continue deceiving others and believe that they will not be caught but they will in time, if not by the Law of the land but by God Himself. In their ignorance, they do not know that they are already been caught by God and will have to pay a dear price for their deeds. This is the fair and just punishment of our impartial God.

Only God knows who steal from who doh steal. The FBI and the SEC took millions of dollars to pay themselves. That belonged to somebody else. So far I have not heard of any of Sanford’s investors calling for money that he did not pay until the FBI and the SEC dipped their greedy hands into his business.
All of his investments were income generating.

When the U.S. are out to get you they’ll use every dirty trick in the book to bring you down. The U.S is nobody’s friend except their own. They’ll inject your country with a problem, then they’ll come like and angel with the perfect solultion to solve the SAME problem they just gave you.

You think all the men dying of prostate cancer and women with ovarian cyst and breast cancer/diabetes are happening by chance…?! Look to the north and you’ll find the root of the problem.

If there is one thing I would like the minister of foreign affairs to get from or Chinese ‘friends’ is their medical (and herbal) expertise, especially in combating cancer and diabetes.

    • Gabo
      February 20, 2011

Who say he was a crook? Nobody lost money as far as I know Same ole same ole. Anyone who try to help the poor goes down. That’s the way the system works and the same people you dying to help are the ones to help pull you down and laugh at you when the big boys grab you. They feel good to see another man fall. That is why the poor will always remain poor. Their mentality is geared to generate poverty around dem. Sort of like teef hate to see teef carry bag. I suffering you suffer too. Look at the woman who told Obama she tired of defending him. Obama was in the heat of the battle pulling the rope trying to make things better for her, and in the heat of it, she tell him in front of his adversaries that she tired a defending him. Well, he let go of the rope and all falling down. Soon she will tired of falling down. When we poor people learn to recognize who our friends are we will know who to bless and who to curse. Or perhaps we should just bless them all.

My understanding reading these comments, it’s seemed to me Antiques’ LOVE Allen Stanford for stealing investor money to develop their country. They has no ideas what was happening, this is an idea, while the new investor giving him money to invest, he will keep the old investor in the dark by giving them the new investor money, making them to believed everything was going fantastically great, for them to keep investing, in his company…
