A Utah mother could spend her life in jail after allegedly trying to sell her 13-year-old daughter’s virginity for $10,000, prosecutors told ABC News.com.
Felicia McClure, 32, was charged Tuesday with multiple counts of sexual abuse of a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor. Police said that McClure’s boyfriend tipped them off after he found text messages between the woman and the man offering to pay for sex with the girl.
McClure had repeatedly been in touch with the man, whom police have identified only as “Don.” The two adults took the girl to a Victoria Secret store in which she modeled thong underwear and bras for Don, according to Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill.
According to court documents McClure admitted to police that she offered to sell her daughter’s virginity to him for $10,000.
McClure also admitted to taking pictures of her daughter and selling them to another adult man, identified only as “Will.” Two of the photos that McClure allegedly sent show the girl’s entire buttocks, according to documents.
According to prosecutors, McClure asked her daughter if she was willing to lose her virginity to Don. The girl initially agreed to her mother’s request, but later “told her mother ‘no’ and that she didn’t feel comfortable having sex,” said Gill.
ABC News does not identify victims of sexual assault.
Gill said prosecutors had not yet identified Don, the man accused of trying to buy the girl for sex, or Will, the man accused of buying pornographic images of the girl, because “they cannot comment on a pending investigation.”
“We’re diligently following up on the men. For now we’ve chosen to go after the mother,” he said.
Aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first degree felony for which McClure is charged on two counts, carries in Utah a maximum sentence of life.
Had the girl been 14 instead of 13 her mother could not be charged with a first degree felony, Gill said.
McClure is currently in the Salt Lake County Jail. Her bail was set at $250,000. She has does not yet have a lawyer.

There are all sorts of people in the world with all sorts of personality and characteristic traits, from all walks of life and who were obviously not nurtured appropriately as others.
She is from Utah. Most people in Utah are Mormons. What they think and practice are something else.
Some women bring children into the world and are incapable of nurturing them. Specifically in this day and age they did not receive parental advice on child-nurturing and care. In some instances they should really not have children. Some of them are not ready for having children.
Thinking further, it may also be that her intentions were not to get pregnant and have a child. It so happened that she indulged in a relationship “with a man” and conceived a child. Ever thought of that which could happen to any woman in any part of the world?
Did or does the man support the child or did he disappear once the woman got pregnant or after the child was born?
While we should not condone such a practice as what this woman has done, we should consider those matters. Inappropriate nurturing, desperation and also ungodliness could cause women/ people to resort to this type of action towards their child. Some men, specifically in the U.S. have also done that.
She obviously has an emotional/mental problem and a financial one at that to seek to sell her child for sex and for money.
We must think beyond. God is merciful and forgiving to everyone who will call on Him and those who are led to Him through others.
Prior to lambasting her and making derogatory comments about her, let us ask ourselves, what type of godly and moral upbringing did this woman receive from her parents? What type of parents did she have? There are more questions to be asked about her as she grew up to adulthood. Think of these things why she found herself in such a situation.
These are people who only live because they are alive with no care about God, worshipping him, praying to him and performing good deeds in Jesus Name.
Women as her need assistance in nurturing a child appropriately.
Whenever I see a baby or a young child, so innocent and smiling, I always think, I wonder who and what this child will grow to be? There are too many children who go astray due to either improper parental nurturing, neglect or through their disobedience and associating with bad company.These are the future adults. What type of adults will they make? Therefore, having children is a responsibility and parents have an obligation first to God, then to society to nurture their children appropriately.
As Our Lord expects, we must consider these matters and be compassionate. There are reasons why people go astray and find themselves in situations they did not expect themselves to be in. We Christians are fully aware that we have an enemy which is instrumental in those ungodly actions.
The mother has to bear the consequences of her action for the Law is only interested in prosecuting people who abuse children and use them in such a manner. it is within its rights to do so to protect children from abuse of every nature.
I do hope that some non-profit organization and even the Social Welfare authority in her area will assist her accordingly. She needs help.
When we read and hear of those matters we should always think and also say: “There but for the grace of God go I.”
We never know what cause people to find themselves in such situations. We never know what they have gone through and what they are going through.
Those who grow up to be responsible parents and in general, good citizens and relatively happy and peaceful people of the world, who also assist others, lovingly and cheerfully, no matter what problems they have which none of us are immune to in different ways, we should consider, “Thank God!” The more reasons to be compassionate and merciful and as Christians, practicing ones of all.
