Steps have been made to strengthen diplomatic relations between Dominica and the Republic of Serbia.

This as Ambassador designate of Serbia to Dominica, Marina Petravic, presented her credentials to the President of Dominica, Eluid Williams, on Wednesday.

“Since our courtiers established diplomatic relations in 2010, these relations have been very cordial and we have had a focus on education. It is my expectation that during your term in office, you will work to continue to strengthen these relations…” President Williams said.

He also indicated that Dominica will also seek to use the resources and expertise of the Republic of Serbia in the areas of energy, capacity building and training.

“I notice you are very strong in the areas of generic drug procurement and information technology. These are all areas which would be of interest to use,” he said.

Meantime, Petravic said she is pleased to assist in strengthening relations between Dominica and Serbia.

Serbia is a country located in central Europe.

Correct me if i am wrong, is this the same Serbia that hate black people? Skerrit you have my support but what’s wrong with you? Serbia have nothing to offer Dominica or anyone else for that matter. Those people will befriend you just to get your vote at the UN.

Serbia was never ever rasist towards black people. Though it was a communist regime, many african people went in Belgrade for free studies. So i m serb and i m correcting you :)

Former president, Boris Tadić referred to relations with the European Union, Russia, the United States and China as the Four pillars of Serbia’s foreign policy.

So why can’t We strengthen ties also

Lord help us all with skerrit and his strengthening diplomatic ties with Serbia, I know of a black guy in a relationship with a girl her mother from Serbia and her father from Austria for over five years

The girl told the guy straight in his face, that they have to end the relationship, because her parents will not accept him

The Serbian FA was fined $105,000 by UEFA on Thursday following an Under-21 match where opposing England players said they were racially abused. The fine was less than the punishment handed to a player at the Euro 2012 finals for exposing undershorts bearing the logo of a betting company

England Under-21 defender Danny Rose called for Serbia to be banned after claiming he was racial ubjected to monkey chants throughout the game, starting in the warm-up

Skerrit swing high swing low, regardless of your diplomatic ties with Serbia, they consider you no different than the young black football player

Serbians don’t like ‘Black’ people or Muslims. I don’t know why we are trying to establish relations with them. Ask the black English footballers and fans about the racism they suffer in Serbia when they have to travel to Serbia for European games.

I do despair at the blatant mercenary and cavalier approach of our foreign relationships. Has anyone forgotten the Sebrenica massacre of Bosnian muslims by Serbia in 1995. The same muslims we pretend to venerate as our brothers in Morocco and previously in Lybia. I have no doubt that in return for “goodies” we have undertaken to support Serbia’s claim to the Kosovo enclave at the U.N. I alwawys considered his excellency Vince Hnderson a paragon of humanitarian ideals but perhaps I was wrong.

It is no suprise to me the length these people will go in their quest to further their own selfish interests.
It seems that in the search of the holy grail of what some call development, all morals are forgotten .

DNO, I am sure your reporters could provide more literature other than the bare ‘country in central europe’. So many things about Serbia could be written. If we are strenthening with those countries you have a duty to inform us of the logistics of the country we are friends to.

Come on man — the reporting – most of it (if it is not bef) is too cut and dry. We have many educated persons in Dominica. Reporters are writing like they just pass common entrance. Please … do something .. Beef up the quality of the reporting and let us have more newsworthy stories ..not beff or accidents.

In DNO’s defence, the tool (computer) to find out all you want about serbia, then you can help to educate those without the tool you have, maybe after that you can write a piece about Serbia for DNO.

I don’t think DNO should be writing essays for people. They report the news and its up to the reader, if interested, to go and do further research. That is what I did after reading the news story.

        March 28, 2013

I am not asking for essays, but rather informative peices. Let the reader leave with a reasoanble undersanding of the news you are trying to convey. The quality of writing as one person stated is poor and the news peices leaves alot to be desired. It appears we are only good at ‘ponging beff’ and repeating it.

For instance, why can’t we get a day by day and descriptive account of certain court matters? why do we wait until the end to get a summary? I live in another Caribbbean island, and Court Cases are reported every day in their entirety (save for sexual assault cases). Why we cannot be so informed in D/ca. This is what sells the news.

The quality of the writing certaintly needs to be improved.

Peacock….Yahoo just brought an app for US$ 30 million call Summly. What Summly does is look at a news story and summarize it into something short and sweet.

This is what on the go news readers want, thing short and to the point.

The days of sitting with the Sunday papers to read long pieces are a thing of the past because all information is already on the internet.

It appears you wanted DNO to publish information on Serbia. Why waste space and probably bandwidth on that when info is available within milliseconds with a Google search?

It appears you are stuck in a time when info was not readily available and people still depend on the newspapers and walking to the library to get info.

Yugoslavia and Joseph Tito. But after the brutal civil war Croatia, Bosnia and later Kosovo gained independence and so Serbia stands alone.

Not sure how much Serbia can add to our vital interest. Serbia is still struggling from the 1990s wars and the lost of its many provinces.

Not too keen on people of colour in that part of the world, indeed a good majority of them were on the wrong side in WW2, but like our president said, they have something we can scrounge from them, oh when are we going to stand STAND TALL, LIKE LIKE BODY!!!!!

I agree with you, i am residing outside Dominica in a multicultural country and i have to say that Serbians are very racist towards, blacks, them people from this part of Europe from Serbia, Albania, Austria, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Romanian etc they hate people of colour, for crying out loud what the hell the PM of Dominica thinks, and what this country have to offer Dominica, when all it’s people fleeing to other countries, just my two cents

75%+? Are you not educated in any way, shape or form? How can you not hear of Serbia? They are well known for being one of the most racist places in Europe. Don’t you watch or hear about international football news? Maybe you should read before commenting. Google Serbia. They are well known. Very aggressive, warlike people. Love fighting. Somewhat poor too.
