The Prime Minister met with Scotland on Friday

Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, has said Dominica will continue to play its part as a member of the Commonwealth of Nations adding the country is committed to the organization.

“We will continue to pay our part as a member of the Commonwealth,” he told Baroness Patricia Scotland, who formally took on duty as Secretary-General of the organization on Friday, during a courtesy call to his office. “And certainly with your presence as a Caribbean national, we will ensure that we also upgrade our participation in the Commonwealth of Nations.”

He noted that Dominica is committed to the Commonwealth.

“We remain committed to the Commonwealth, the Commonwealth is an important institution to us in the region,” he noted, adding that the organization has done a number of “remarkable things” from education to observing elections and making recommendations on how to improve the electoral process.

He stated that the Commonwealth will be assisting member states in terms of climate change and “to have the capacity to be able to take advantage of the large sums of resources that are available for climate resilience …”

“Se we look forward to this,” Skerrit said.

He remarked that the Commonwealth has been advocating on behalf of small states in respect to debt challenges and he hopes Scotland will continue to championing those issues on behalf of member states.

Meanwhile, Scotland said many of what were pointed out by the Prime Minister are being echoed by many others.

“The existential threat of climate change is real and I think for countries in this region and the Pacific, we have tasted that reality…” she said.

However, she said if all countries work together, “we can make a difference.”

Sir, You also need to remain comitted to your citizens. The catastrophe waiting to happen at the O Delice road going needs to be addressed with urgency! This is a clear demonstration of neglecting the people. Safety of your citizens should be at the focus of your recovery plans after Erica. Get serious about this danger. The people deserve better Sir. Guidance to you.

Personally, I see no significance for an organization which was formed out of slavery and colonization of peoples. I believe that Great Britain is using this organization to remind herself of her past prominence in world domination and the enslavement and exploitation of people of colour.

Dominica should never have become independent. Consider what ensued when the authorities wanted it to achieve Statehood and Independence. Anyway, what is done is done and cannot be undone.
The PM is correct and wise that Dominica will remain committed to the Commonwealth. Great Britain is still assisting all the islands in whatever manner is necessary. See! The GB authorities do not hate the islands and nationals. Critics, learn from that!
With someone as Baroness Scotland, D/ca and the other islands will not be left behind. We must respect her position and treasure her concern which will never wane.
The Baroness has asked for everyone’s cooperation. Together, it could be done. Keep in mind the saying: “United we stand. Divided we fall.” Therefore, keep Dominica united, stand up for it and do whatever you can to enhance it and make it progressive.
You Christians out there, it is your country. Keep also in mind God expects it of you with no exception.

Lady, I wonder when are you going to stop being a liar; and stop making a fool out of yourself trying unsuccessfully spread false and lying propaganda! You need to realize there are people alive today who does not have a clue how Statehood came about in Dominica, and the rest of the English Speaking West Indian islands in general.

When we lie the innocent picks up the lie and run with it you see!

No political party, or any one person in Dominica got up and suggest Statehood for Dominica. Say Francisco Etienne-Dods Telemaque, told you the British Government intended to cut all of its colonies in the West Indies, and elsewhere loose, as result Independence was the only alternative. Hence they decided to force the islands to accept “Statehood In Association With Britain.” In that the government of Dominica would become…

        Continuation:

Hence they decided to force the islands to accept “Statehood In Association With Britain.” In that the government of Dominica would become responsible for our internal affairs, while the British government retained responsibility for our external affairs, and defense.

That arrangement was mandatory for five years; and it was stipulated that after five years wether or not we were ready for independence, the British would simply walk away from us. We were given an ultimatum.

Patrick John the nations Primer at the time had no choice, he had to take Dominica through Statehood, and ultimately into independence whether he wanted to or not! We were rejected by the British after plundering our country for more than four hundred years. You need to shut up, and stop talking nonsense!

I challenge you or any Dominican who was around between 1959 to today to refute anything I said here and now; no wonder you cannot write a single line under you birth name because you…

Why we should not become independent when your rulers set you free? In that case you are suggesting that slavery should still be in existence, Gory island went out of business more than four hundred years ago you know.

And Dominica also remains very concerned about the on going FBI case against NG Lap Seng, John Ashe, Francisco Lorenzo and others, who were all arrested and charged by the FBI for money laundering, lying to the fbi, corruption etc, less than three weeks after prime minister Skerrit was seen with them cutting cake in macaw. We are concerned about who else will be arrested and if Dominica will be implicated.

Sometimes when we are dunce we might better remain silent! “The Commonwealth of Dominica” period; puts us in the category of an independent country or community as a democratic republic which we are or supposed to be; an aggregate or grouping of countries, or other bodies such as a community, or organizations of shared interest in a nonpolitical field.

That to me that seems totally different to the commonwealth of nations which are an international association consisting of the United Kingdom together with states that were previously part of the British Empire; dependencies of which the British monarch is the symbolic head of the Commonwealth! In any event all of the nations in that category recognized the queen of England as head of state, unlike Dominica which recognized Charles Savarin as Dominica’s head of State, in the form of a “President.” The only two other former British colonies with presidents in the Caribbean are Trinidad & Tobago, and Guyana.

    Even Canada…

    • Francisco Etienne-Dods Telemaque
      April 1, 2016

      Continue:

Even Canada with all its power and wealth recognized Elizabeth as head of State. So, here is the question: what contribution has Dominica ever made to the commonwealth of Nations, and what contribution Skerrit has ever made to the commonwealth of nations as he suggests? That guy had better be quiet, keep his mouth closed, where civilize and academically educated people will not be able to see he is not very intelligent!

………………….. I mean why is it that Dominica’s most failed P.M. keeps on engaging in things that does not benefit us directly in necessary areas? With immediate effect the roads needs to be fixed, jobs are needed to be had, health care services need overhauling, your entire cabinet needs to be investigated by Interpol, and maybe then just maybe it would make sense to waste time and have a salty one on one discussion salty Baroness. Focus your attention where it is needed, not where it is wanted. People like Baroness make it in life already while the majority of Dominicans are about to mal-twavay because of you and your jobless kingdom
