The Kingdom of the Netherlands appoints new ambassador to Dominica

President of Dominica, His Excellency Nicholas J. O. Liverpool receives credentials from Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Dominica, Her Excellency, Lucita Cecilia Gaireon-Nisa Moeniralam.

The Kingdom of the Netherlands now has a new Ambassador to Dominica.

The New Ambassador, Her Excellency Lucita Cecilia Gaireon-Nisa Moeniralam, presented her letters of credentials to Dominica’s Head of State His Excellency Dr Nicholas Liverpool on Wednesday, 8th June, 2010.

Her Excellency Moeniralam promised to widen the relations between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Dominica.

“I can pledge here, of course, that in the coming time, I will do my best to widen and deepen the relationship between our nations. I know that a lot of people from Dominica have close family and friendship ties with our island in the Dutch Caribbean and I will try to do my very best to see how we can take this further.”

President of Dominica, His Excellency Dr Nicholas Liverpool, said that he is looking forward to the strengthening of mutual cooperation in areas of common interest and to even closer ties between Dominica and the Netherlands.

“We are grateful for the assistance which the Government of the Netherlands extends through the European Union Drug Initiative that focuses on maritime arrangements to fight drug trafficking to complement those that already exists with the United States and Britain. Your Excellency, the relationship between the Netherland Antilles and Dominica is quite evident particularly with the traditional huckster trade between Dominica and St. Marten in fresh agricultural produce. We would wish urgent consideration to be given also to the pursuit of the interest expressed by Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to explore cooperation in the areas of horticulture and food processing.

“Your Excellency, it is my sincere hope that Dominica’s request for the establishment of a consulate and trade office in St. Marten will receive the urgent attention and favourable consideration of your Government. Our cooperation with your country in the regional and international arena can be counted upon and we look forward to providing continued support for the candidacy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands on various international bodies in appropriate circumstances.”

Someone said that Tony Astaphan only represent certain interest of the Dutch Kingdom in Dominica. For sure we know that this is the comment of a blind bat or a red sycophant. I’d like to ask Namish2008 – “ what is that certain/special interest?” Aren’t you guys tired of being fooled by Tony Astaphan and his bunch of corrupt puppets. Even an imbecile would pickup on the insidious motives of Tony Astaphan.
Have Dominicans realize that only a selected few shall eat all and Tony seem to be at the top of the buffet line. While Tony and the other sharks are busy plundering a bone dry government treasury the people are getting poorer’ unemployment is rising and the entire country is going down the annals of crime poverty and ruin.
In the interest of Partisanship laborites or Skerritites are supporting the despicable behavior of a dishonest and voracious Tony while Tony is making all the dough and the very same party supporters are heading towards the next level of poverty.

One more question – How much of that money is given back to the people. I’m talking about the millions of dollars made by the puppet master and the quiet lawyer ( passport agent extraordinaire)?

By the time we decide to be honest with ourselves our children will already be living through the same misery and corruption.

I would love to know where we can find the new Dutch ambassador. I’m a Dutch citizen living in Dominica and would love that we no longer have to struggle to get a new passport or a visa for our spouse.

Didn’t St Maarten/St.Martin become an independent country last Oct? Isn’t the Dutch Embassy for our region based in Trinidad and isn’t Tony Astaphan the Consul for the Netherlands in Dominica? I’m very confused. Can some kind soul clarify this please?

St.maarteen received country status, however they did not become an independent country. They are still part of the Dutch kingdom.
Secondly Tony Astaphan has never been the consul/ ambassador to the Netherlands in Dominica. He only represented certain interest of the Dutch Kingdom in Dominica.

Namich, you are either misinformed or disingenuous. A.W. Astaphan at 65 King George V. street was the Hon. Consul for the Netherlands in Dominica. The Dutch foreign office still lists the consulate at the same address and the title was merely transferred to another member of the same dynasty , Mrs. Genevieve Astaphan. Its a family affair & business as usual!

St. Maarten received status Aparte from the Dutch meaning it is within the Dutch Kingdom. Before that it used to be The Netherlands Antilles. Which waas consisted of St. Maarten, Curacao, St. Eustasia, Saba and Bonaire. In October, 2010, the Netherlands Antilles was dismantled. St. Maarten and Curacao got their status aparte. The other three island are too small to go on their own so a now known as the Bess Island. So now it just Dutch West Indies and not Netherlands Antilles.
