On Monday, September 11, 2017, the prospective members of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Dominica “Power Achievers Team” hosted a closing ceremony to mark the completion of The Christian Union Primary, School Beautification Project. The ceremony took place at the Christian Union Primary School in Goodwill, immediately following the school’s morning assembly.
The project was undertaken as part of the initiation process of JCI Dominica, which requires its prospective members to successfully plan and execute a community project before being inducted. The project took place from July 5th to August 31st, and entailed the enhancement of the school’s environment by means of creative arts (painting, drawings, cleaning and educational games) and providing a partial scholarship to an underprivileged student.
During the ceremony, a seven-year-old student was presented with school uniforms, school shoes, text books, exercise books and other stationery, as well as a cheque to cover his school fee for the first term. The principal, students and staff of The Christian Union Primary School expressed great appreciation to the “Power Achievers Team” and all other parties involved, for the hard work and dedication put into the upliftment of their school.
This project was made possible through the kind sponsorship of First Caribbean International Bank, Lyndhurst Funeral Home, Harris Paints Dominica Ltd, Shadrach Burton, PDV Caribe Dominica Ltd, National Co-operative Credit Union, Fine Foods Inc., KFC Dominica, Perky’s Pizza, Vincienne George, Josephine Gabriel and Co Ltd, Zaimis Olmos Visual Arts, Al Motors Ltd and Thomas Bell.
