The Kiwanis Club of Roseau has made a donation of school supplies to four primary schools on the island.
The supplies were delivered to the Atkinson, Castle Bruce, San Sauveur and Newtown primary school on the 4th and 5th of July 2016.
The Kiwanis Club, says in a release, that the supplies were provided by son of the soil, Dr. Bryon Winston who contacted the president of the Club, Monelle La Touche, after Tropical Storm Erica. The donation from Dr. Winston included bags, water bottles, pencil boxes, exercise books, pens, pencils, sharpeners, and erasers. The Kiwanis Club added exercise books and printing paper. The Club says that the schools were “very pleased to receive the supplies and informed us that they came at an opportune time to assist in the end of year prize giving ceremony.”
Kiwanis International is a non-profit service club founded in 1915 in Detroit, Michigan and became an international organization thereafter. Kiwanis has been in Dominica for the past 25 years. They believe in the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis International club, no matter where in the world it is located and Dominica is no different. They are dedicated to activities which uplift the human spirit, edify young minds, and improve the quality of life for children all around the world. The objective of the Kiwanis Club of Roseau, having the Golden Rule at the heart of the club motivates them to achieve this.
The members of the Kiwanis Club of Roseau would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Winston for working with us and especially to A Level Up Organization (P&G and Walmart), Nottingham Elementary in Houston, Texas, AECOM, The Menard Company, USA, colleagues of University of Arkansas, North Eastern State University, and all others who contributed to this cause.
Hats off to Kiwanis and all other non-profit organisations who continue to contribute to our country’s development through social services.
