LIFTING OF CURFEW FOR SELECT AREAS IN DOMINICA

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit

Roseau, Dominica (October 13, 2017) — The mandatory curfew has been lifted for some parts of the island, and the change will take effect after a national security assessment was conducted by the Chief of Police.

While Roseau and some of its immediate environs were still not at the stage where it was deemed advisable to lift the curfew provisions, the town of Portsmouth and elsewhere in the countryside received positive review.

As a result, the curfew shall be lifted in the town of Portsmouth and all other communities in Dominica, with effect from Monday, 16 October, 2017.

The curfew shall however remain enforced in the city of Roseau, extend to the Loubiere bridge in the south, Checkhall bridge in the north and Copthall in the east from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. in order to maintain and enhance security.

The main reasons for lifting the curfew in the town of Portsmouth and other communities across Dominica are to allow for economic activities to be undertaken, such as fishing, farming and retailing of goods and also to facilitate those students who will be returning to school.

First of all Mr pm.. u need to fire that chief of police and that deputy that’s there.. they have been a dismal failure to the people of Dominica especially the business people. When u have a chief and deputy handpicked by you skerite and blackmore what u expect? These guys are incompetent and they cannot make decisions on there own.. you all have allowed politics to undermine the police force. You people fail to lead the men properly .. fail to exercize proper leadership. How can a chief and deputy of police attack his own men during the years ..victimize them..fail to promote them…Transfer them all over.. do all sorts of things and then go on radio a day befor the storm saying to the public that you have our men ready? You really believe that your men will support you commissioner? The chief and deputy and blackmore should be fired.. for allowing pple to loot for a week. He could easily use his riot squad to scare them off ..iF it was UWP in roseau he would run them with tear gas!

  4. Dominica's Disaster Relief ICO has now Launched
    October 14, 2017

DNO Admin- please publish and publicise.

We have launched an ICO for the funding of Dominica’s reconstruction post hurricane Maria.

We expect the launch will raise millions and put money in the pockets of every Dominican affected by the disaster. To access the ICO site, go to: https://www.cryptocoincreator.com/currency/coindomo/client/index.php .

Upon accessing the site, create your wallet to get as many coins as possible for free and wait for the value of the coins to increase when you can trade them for other currencies, both digital and fiat. In June, Ethereum, a digital currency, from its ICO raised $135 million in 12 hours.

Please give as much publicity as possible to Dominica’s ICO as this is good news for all Dominicans.

It is deplorable that you see fit to use this disaster as a business opportunity. Unfortunately you are not alone. Other hyenas are on the prowl, not excluding our own.

Good initiative whoever is behind it but isn’t it time to ask Skerrit to tell us something about the monies we all know he was spreading all over Dominica weeks before Maria? I am taking about what we know was happening because he did it in public; we not even about what he may have done in secret. We don’t know where he got so much money from because we know as a nation we had not recovered from TS Erika as yet and instead of using money to build a bridge or erect back walls, the man was like Santa spreading money to his friends instead of putting money in reserve in case there is another disaster. Now we got hit by Maria and our back is against the wall, every body is everywhere begging because we broke. People are not motivated to give this time around because they remember Erika. The world wants to see us busy addressing our corrupt government first. Unless we get them out and put in a government all can trust whether is dlp, dfp, uwp or all coming together as one we in trouble

Does this ICO know of Dominica, its financial status, lack of jobs, an abandon banana and agriculture business, a very corrupt labour government?. In other words high unemployment with those who work in low salary? A very poor, inexperience inept PM Skerrit, a very corrupt Labour government, questions of the abuse of states funds, nefarious subjects around the world with our passport, lack of accountability and transparency re CBI passports sales? And you asking poor people in Dominica who are penniless, no jobs after a devastating hurricane to invest money is a scheme.? Who are you guys really??
I think you people better come better. You may be genuine but please explain this scheme better. Come to Dominica let us talk. 90% of Dominicans do not have internet, let alone the computer service, let alone a decent job. Come to Dominica and open a business, an investment that gives us a job and then we can invest in your scheme. We await your arrival.

DNO did you forget to tell us about the US firm that will be giving us a generator that can power the whole of Dominica,; the one hundred houses that can withstand category five hurricane and the two schools man? The Pm told us on Thursday that he would give that breaking news on Friday. So please tell us about it

I just hope that the villages and town that are free from the curfew will go out and be a little productive do all the planting you can do, yes go back to the sea and rivers to catch fish to eat, bake some bread, little is much when God is in it, my people let us all come together and help each other because the road is long but with grace and mercy and the love of families and good friends we will make it.

You can only bake bread if you’ve got flour my friend and go to sea when your boat and equipment has been spared by Maria. First things first. Since some Dominicans believe that our P.M. was sent to us by God maybe Skerrit can replicate Jesus and perform the miracle of multiplying bread and fish?

You are very much a part of this. Keep in mind we are not here for ourselves. The problem with people as you, you blame others and never yourself. It is as if you do not reside there or in this world when you very well exist.
First change your heart, mannerisms and criticisms. Cease placing any blame on others. Help others and cooperate with one another. It takes everyone to play their part. Only then will recovery be progressive, successful and effective. I

Saw the vids of Mystylics about Dominica post Maria.

If you people think that this was the work of a hurricane, think again. No hurricane could do this.

Dominica was subject to some kind of electromagnetic force from CERN and HAARP which was combined with the storm to make it look as if a hurricane did that.

Funny that the US sent ‘Special Forces’ after the hurricane to roam Dominica to look for Ross students???

Watch out for planted devices, unknown origin fires. Remember what happened before Maria? We got a whole bunch of Peace Corps folks in to do the reccy.

Trust no one and stop being idiots. We are being taken for the rid of our lives by the same people who enslaved our forbears. Thank heavens I have Kalinago blood in me!!

Kalinago people do not believe in God, unless some of them were converted to Christianity. They worship the sun, moon, trees, etc.
Let us not be suspicious of Hurricane Maria and what it wrought on Dominica. Consider other disasters worldwide. Who and what caused them?
On Sunday afternoon, Ontario, Toronto for that matter had high winds, approximately 100 miles an hour. The media called it hurricane-like winds. There was a lot of rain and wind, the likes of which I never experienced here. Viewing this scene from indoors was scary.
There was a bit of lightning and thunder. There were power outages in some areas until Monday morning. In some areas, as it was stated, shingles and whatever else fell off houses. Trees fell and damaged some vehicles. In effect there was a lot of damage. This occurred in less than two hours. After it was over the sun came out; still a bit windy. The Media reported the sunset was beautiful. Who shall we say caused that?

  9. Let The Truth Be Known - Original
    October 13, 2017

The PM and the Chief of Police know which areas are the ones with continuous looting and lawlessness.
I heard there was much of that especially in Roseau to the point, after they looted, they further damaged the buildings. Real wickedness! Even after such a hurricane, some people do not have a good heart. They lost it during the hurricane or do not have one.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, I also heard businesses as Whitchurch lost all their goods to looting. Some people have a habitual manner of looting after a storm/ hurricane. Some of them are chronic thieves. Fortunate for them they remained alive and uninjured. Reasons to thank God. Instead, they are brazen enough to also go to houses to steal whatever they can get, even though they are occupied.
If the curfew for those areas remains in force, so be it. May no one be critical. Those areas which still have a curfew when it is deemed necessary the curfews will be lifted for the rest of Dominica.

  10. But I Agree
    October 13, 2017

But off course I agree with the decision to put free up Possie and keep Roseau in bondage. After all, the villas, Avisville apartments, pukinski hotel, the Moroccan hotel, the coffee plant just to name a few, are all in the Portsmouth area, not forgetting Monfareds key boy is also from possie and the two suitcases also entered in the Portsmouth area by night. So people want the freedom of being able to move around and move their friends around, so why not free them up

    October 13, 2017

Why not just split the country in two and have North Dominica with their laws and time zone and South Dominica, like North and South Korea? Portsmouth and environ free and Roseau under curfew? So what if the bad boys of Roseau move to possie to do their doooos? Makes no sense whatsoever. Skerrit and Carbon operating like Abot and Castello

Abot and Castello wow! 4 real that’s who U are cant even spell it right.
which are you of the 2 ? Abott I think
It would be more like N & S Sudan ask Dr.Fontaine he was on a gig there. The dif is they have oil ( despite falling prices) ask Fontaine anew about price of oil and economic activity world wide and the multipler effect.

    • Real possie man
      October 14, 2017

Them man cannot come Portsmouth and do that nonsense they did in Roseau after the hurricane. You should be your brother keeper at this time not voleur what he have. Nah you not going to rub people stuff and run down possie and believe you going to get a free pass it doesn’t work like that. Roseau should be the last place to remove the curfew.

      • Rats and Mouse
        October 14, 2017

@Real Possie Man, You don’t know a thing that happening in possie because you’ve been gone so long. You were not in DA during Maria so you don’t know who did what. I was there so I can talk. It was not Roseau guys that voleur by Whitchurch and Courts down in Possie ok.

      • Let The Truth Be Known - Original
        October 16, 2017

Let them try. I suspect/know the people at possie will not take it lightly. They will retaliate and in a worst way. Good for them.

    • Rats and Mouse
      October 14, 2017

I strongly agree with you @Abbott and Castello. That was already the vision of the DLP under PJ, which really was for a better cause that would probably benefit all of us. Under Skerrit you know it has to be for personal gain like everything else he is involved in. So Dominica North would be from Portsmouth to the airport and Mano would be the PM of DA north, Monfared would be President, Bobbles the election Commissioner and the lawyer in whose account Mano said the money should go to, is opposition Leader. No parl rep or ministers. Skerrit would remain as PM for Roseau South, Charlo as president, and Tony as Opposition leader. Boy these guys would have a fun we papa. No one to say that is wrong, no one to oppose, no one in their way…maybe that’s the kind of government we deserve
