Maduro says a US-led ‘coup’ is behind the political upheaval in Venezuela

As Venezuela’s chaotic political situation continues and the world picks sides, President Nicolas Maduro is alleging the United States orchestrated a coup to remove him from the helm of the embattled nation, CNN has reported.

In a Sunday interview, Maduro also accused Juan Guaido, the self-proclaimed interim president and head of the opposition-led National Assembly, of violating “the constitution and all laws,” which Maduro said is a matter for the courts.
“I am not the attorney general. It will be the job of the attorney general, it will be up to the courts to determine the steps to follow and we’ll see. This pertains to the justice system,” he told CNN Turk’s Cuneyt Ozdemir.

Those people don’t have food to eat and MADuro there talking bout coup. But then again the least Skerrit could have done to help the people of venezuela was to ship bananas and possibly provisions to them on a monthly or timely basis for all the help they have given us, but then again agriculture is on life support.

why dont they have food? why is their economy struggling? Dominica itself doesnt produce enough, especially after Maria. do not only look at it from one side, look at it from different angles. America has sanctioned Venezuela for years, in various ways in order to gain access to their oil and shake confidence in Venezuela. they have finally succeeded. Yes the people are dying and starving etc, but the cause is not Maduro. https://oilprice.com/Energy/Crude-Oil/US-Seeks-To-Cripple-Venezuelas-No1-Vehicle-For-Embezzlement.html

this article sheds a little light if you can read between the lines.

Let me applaud you, Karl, for bringing facts and depth to the issue. I find that too many Dominicans dance to the drum beat of war against Venezuela by the US with only superficial knowledge of the situation. Overthrowing the present Venezuelan government and installing a puppet of their liking is a long held American dream. Venezuelan oil is a tantalizing temptation of many right wing US politicians. With the help of American weapons, Saudi Arabia bombs hospitals, ambulances, women, children, villages in Yemen daily. Over a million people aero on the brink of dying from starvation. Does America care? Hell no! Does America really care about the present plight of Venezuelans? Hell no! They just use this as a pretext to invade and take full control of the country’s oil. America’s foreign policy is mostly based on selfish motives. They are no way altruistic, philanthropic nor self-sacrificing.

Maduro is o better than Mugabe of Zimbabwe. They will run the country into the ground but will cling onto power at all cost despite the people’s suffering. The only thing these guys understand is a bullet to the head.

The US is tbe main country actually paying Venezuela cash for oil. As a matter of fact Venezuela has oil refinery in the US that sell the Citgo branded fuel. Anywhere you see citgo you are actually putting money in Venezuela. Here is tbe kicker: Venezuela also ships oil to Russia and China but as debt payments so they get no cash. They have the largest proven oil reserves in the world. Bigger than Saudi Arabia yet tbe country is plunged into poverty. That is because the socialist regime crippled the country. I have said here before nothing is free. Dominica has been a participants in the torture and suffering of the Venezuelan people. I would gladly say Skeritt but because he represents us we are all to blame. What have we done for the Venezuelan people after squandering 200million that we owe? Absolutely nothing. Our leader is nothing but a two faced lying son of a ……. No innovation no production. Dominica is on a path to despair.

Cnn is also reporting that at a supermarket a basket of ( nuts, water, ham and cheese is $200 when a basic wage is $10 per month. Just think of that for a minute. Now reflect on where do you want to see Dominica going forward.
At least the final decision is in your hands.

On one hand he may be right but on the other hand, maybe if he wasn’t such wicked and corrupt person the US wouldn’t try to take advantage of the situation.

This is no Coup! This is a humanitarian struggle . The Venezuelan people have been plagued with this level of poverty for years now. This is as a direct result of the failed Social schemes in Venezuela.Social schemes last as long as the source of funding, Venezuela was oil, Dominica is Passports. I have always been taught that if a friend is becoming a nuisance speak to that person, if they refuse to change then you keep away. It’s the same for Venezuela , The DLP Led Govt of Dominica is a friend of the Govt and PEOPLE of Venezuela . Do you give favour to a leader grabbing on to power ? or the starving millions which the DLP Govt has yet to acknowledge ! This is what Social investment brings.

Can you imagine Maduro talking about violation of the constitution?
Can you imagine Skerrit accusing a Dominican of violating the constitution?
Dictators are laughable when their reign of terror is nearing it’s end!

This is no coup by the US. The people of Venezuela have had enough of your reign of terror and corruption, and they rise up against you. They have suffered enough under your oppression, your silencing and imprisonment of your political opposition.

Same old story ever since the days of Chavez. Some ignorant people on the outside who know nothing of the Venezuelan situation might believe this. If Guaido was doing anything illegal he would have been behind bars a long time ago. They have Leopoldo Lopez in prison for 3 years now for simply calling for protest action.

Guaido’s position as the interim president is based on the Venezuelan constitution. He is the president of the national assembly and as such based on article 233 he is able to act as interim president due to a lack of a functioning presidency.

At any rate I will say again – the venezuelan situation is coming to a close and then once new command takes over the corruption investigations will start.

You all better hope that nobody here is involved in or benefited from the proceeds of corruption or drug trafficking that is allegedly rampant under Maduro’s regime.

Sense out of nonsense when did that happened? “He is the president of the national assembly and as such based on article 233 he is able to act as interim president due to a lack of a functioning presidency.”

That 35 year old is just a puppet to the US led regime change taking place in Venezuela, he won’t last a year if he do not play along!!!!!

Maduro can say what he wants but like Skerrit, hemust go!! But after Maduro goes it will be Dominica and Roosevelt. Roosevelt Skerrit needs to tell us what was done with over US$100 million debt forgiveness money Venezuela gave to Dominica after Maria. We talking about over EC$270 Million dollars which means that there was enough to give each Dominican $,3 million dollars since they say our population is 70,000

Maduro is exactly like Skerrit. It’s always someone else’s fault never his own. Furthermore one can’t keep stealing of the people and feed them with a few scraps. Eventually they wake up and demand a fair share.

    • January 29, 2019

You are desperate to see UWP and Joshua Francis in power but, that will not happen. Keep dreaming. There has to be law and order in the country. If you do not like it, leave.

Law and order? Where? In Dominica? Man don’t make me laugh!
For your info I have left already but I’ll return after the election for a while to seek out people like yourself and certain DLP operatives. Be under no illusion.
