Man on attempted murder charge denied bail

bail deniedEdison Kurt Pemberton of Newtown, who has been charged with the attempted murder of Bianca Blanchard in November 2015, was denied bail by Magistrate Arley Gill. He has been on remand for the past eleven months.

Pemberton’s lawyer, Wayne Norde, begged the court to grant bail to his client who is awaiting trial at the Criminal Session of the High court in January 2017 but the Magistrate said that the facts of the case are “disturbing” and denied him bail telling the lawyer to instead go to the high court.

On Monday 23rd November 2015, Pemberton entered the work place of Blanchard on Fields Lane in Roseau, and chopped her several times on both hands and other parts of her body with a cutlass.

In April 2014, Pemberton pleaded guilty to a charge of maliciously damaging several household items belonging to his girlfriend (Bianca Blanchard) and was ordered to pay her EC$9745.00 compensation.

In other court news, Darius Williams who was arrested by the police on October 13, 2016 in St. Joseph, appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to possession of cocaine and possession with intent to supply 19,000 grams of cocaine. The 38 year old Kings Hill resident was granted bail in the sum of $100,000.00 with a proper surety but is yet to get the surety and is now on remand.

The matter is set for February 14, 2017 in St. Joseph. Williams is represented by lawyer Wayne Norde

If she is communicating with him in prison and he is granted bail, he will go straight to her home. Woman, beware of that man!
For all what he did to her and almost killed her, this was his intent, he does not deserve bail.

Maybe she is practicing what Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “Forgive one another.” However, He did not say if someone injured you and that badly, almost killed her and could have maimed her, she has to return to that person. Who knows what worst he could do to her in the future.
She feels sorry for him. She is a brave woman to communicate with him. After what he did to her, I would not trust that man again and never want to be in his company. He is a bad man. If he is released, he should be given a restraining order..
He should be taking a rehabilitation course which includes anger management.
He did not only harm her, he committed an atrocious crime against the State. He also trespassed. He must pay for it. He will be in prison for a while.
