A man was shot and injured in an alleged robbery in Wesley at about 1 a.m. Tuesday.
Reports are that the gunman broke into the victim’s house, and during a struggle, the victim was shot in the stomach. He is now a patient at the Princess Margaret Hospital.
The victim, who is about 40-50 years old, lives alone.
One man has been held for questioning in relation to the incident.
Magistrate Tiyani Behanzin is planning to hold a peace conference in Wesley on Sunday, Jan. 23 at the Wesley Catholic Church. Behanzin said there is an increase in crime in the village.
This is the second shooting in less than a month.
In December 2010, Vaughn Dodds was shot multiple times. The shooting occurred from a vehicle. Dodds is still a patient at the hospital.
Twenty-three-year-old Lee Anthony of Morne Rachette has been charged with attempted murder and shooting with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to Dodds .
Anthony is currently remanded at the Dominica State Prison.
In late December, a 22-year old woman of Wesley was remanded into custody after being charged for the attempted murder of her cousin. Muriel Thomas allegedly stabbed Rosemund Cheryl Thomas with a knife in her neck during a dispute.

Seems Wesley want to be recognized. All of a sudden. Want to give Granday Competition. Hmph!!! That’s not the way people!
It seems all u cannot open all u mouth without grand bay coming out nuh, awa man give grand bay a break
Don’t let a statement kill you dear. Suposing I like Grand Bay now and it cant stay away from my mouth. U have your opinion and I have mine.SO be it. It is what it is
You know who is responsible for crime? The one who commit the crime! The criminal is responsible. It’s that plain and simple. If you commit the crime you must do the time.
People must learn to take responsibilty for their actions. We must stop making excuses. We must stop the blame game. Do not blame poverty, the government, the region of the country, the economy, and parents. Mothers especially gets many of the blame for the actions of grown men and women.
We must stop the “It’s not my fault” mentality that’s taking over the whole world. This is not only a Dominican problem. We must get rid of that victim mentality!
what can the parlint rep do???????
a rep has to be actively invovled in his or her community during special events and holidays,i times of festivities and in times of sadness. It is his or her duty to bring reassurance to the community they serve. In this case where there has been a heightend increase of violence in the community. The rep needs to come forward in some sort of town hall meeting, public anouncement and let the community know that him or her cares. Your community is been shoved under the bus by ignorant people who do not know it, bring back confidence to the community and the country. I hope this ansanswers your question. that is the job of a rep.campaigning is every dasy not just during election when the votes are needed
Why do we keep on blaming others for our kids bad behavior? Our kids are our responsibilities not the Parl Rep or the communities we live in. Gone are the days when the neighbor was allowed to spank your kids. We need to teach our children right from wrong when they are small and not wait when they become adults.Too late has always been the cry.
It is not the lack of jobs, the government or Skerrit who are to be blamed for the upsurge in crime, but we ourselves who have become complacent and toleranr of the deviants and recedevist among us.Case in point, every person in Grand Bay knew about the reputation of the two brothers who were killed in Grand Bay, every villager knew that those two brothers had fled prosecution in ST THOMAS after murdering an ac quaintance in St Thomas every villager knew of their violent and anti social behavior and yet the entire community felt at ease to have them living in the open among the populace.WHY was the presence of these anti social individuals not reported to the police, when it was a well known fact that they had fled St Thomas to avoid proecution, That exercise in COMMUNITY POLICING was lost on those Grandbayrians A GANGSTER is highly respected in Grand Bay. Take a look at how they strut up and the Laley
give them a bloody break the dead and buried move on with ur sad life.. geeheez all u cannot talk without grand bay name come up in all u stinking mouths
Where there is illegal drugs operating in the villages, there will be crimes. Sometimes it is not the drug industry itself, but the drug culture,
Added to that you have men who learnt their desparado habits overseas and got deported back to Dominica, and instead of thanking God for the opportunity to start a new page, they creat trouble here. Trouble has become their wy of life. These men bring back a notoriety with them that make the local boys decide they are not taking chances with them. I am not saying that this is the only reason fof the crimes, but for sure at least three of the killings since the holiday season involved deportees.
I could’nt agree with you more.
i don’t know if i am wrong but since those haitians come to dominica ,lots of bad things start happening.
dont blame the haitians.
Yes you wrong….
But before somebody popo is d government dey blaming!!
Stop d politics and stop d crimes!!
d.n.o.i think its time to pick a village of the month the same way you pick a person of the day or month(.thats just an observation )
Agreed
So that is how wesley ppl wanna put wesley on the map? unno doh easy eh! Lord have mercy

wesley again well if wesley wasnt on de map well here it comes
Wesley Again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what are you a man or a manicou????? how can you be from wesley and afraid to walk on the road…nonsence….first of all Wesley is not bad!!!! So don’t come and try to imply that wesley is unsafe…stupesssss
you sound like a REAL maco!
HELLO I AGREE WITH YOU.
LOVERBOY!!!!!! U SOUND LIKE ONE AH ROBERT IN BATISTE DONKEY WHAT DEH ASS YOU TALKING BUT U FRAID TO WALK ON DEH ROAD.YOUR DAM ASS
I am a bit cOnfUsEd here…. What exactly was the parl rep supposed to say in the speech that you all are asking for
a rep has to be actively invovled in his or her community during special events and holidays,i times of festivities and in times of sadness. It is his or her duty to bring reassurance to the community they serve. In this case where there has been a heightend increase of violence in the community. It’s time to pray for our village and country. Forget about passing the blame, and claim back our island from the devil!!!! Our father in Heaven we invite your presence in our island. Please instill the fear of you and obedience to your words in our heart. you said in your words that “if my people who are called by my name would humble themselves and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sins and heal their land….” heal Dominica Lord Jesus. In Jesus name we pray
Now we know how the U W P people relay wicked and bent on destroying our country every thing that happen is Skerrit or Labour is the young people that don’t want to work and want to leave sweet our young people to LAZY and aided and abetted by their parents don’t blame the govt.I must say thanks to Mr. Tiyani Behanzin for his stand i wish more of our magistrates would do like him this country would be better, young people really listen to him he is not all about jailing young people he also educate them. I appeal to the Government to re sign his contract as chief magistrate all magistrates make mistakes his is less than theirs God bless you Behanzin you will be on the bench again we will pray for that cause.I hope the AG listen to the voice of God if he believes in him and leave Tiyani alone he is a good man for Dominica do good to ROOSEVELT DOUGLAS son or his ghost will hunt you Levi Peters.
you speak on both side of you mouth, if the Gov’t don’t create Job how can the young people get work to do, and i hope you really asking you Gov’t to put back this magistrate there because he is the only one who will calm Dominica down now, but again why would they do that knowing he will deal with them all one by one.
maybe they should try to create their own opportunities…
To all the other magistrates that want Mr. Behanzin gone it will not happen can you imargin that he can reach the young people and that is killing you guys had it ever accur to you that he is not about politic he is about the developing and education of the people of DOMINICA. therefore, that’s why he stays away from the rat race and I am very proud of him he cannot be bought he is somewhat like his grand father R B D Douglas back in those days and that’s the kind of person we need in DOMINICA we do not need any more of the yes sir yes sir and give me give me people.
The resiging of his contract is just becaue he will not play ball with them(Govt) like Peters does and that’s a shame.Behanzin is here to stay and we like his work.
Many of you bellow are still playing the blame game….it is not me, is the Gov’t, or it is the Pal Rep, or it is the Politics,or it is the Church….but what about each of us as an individual….what have we done to assist? Have we been holding our own? Have we taken up our role as Mothers, Fathers, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunt, or uncles. Have we encouraged a friend? or support them to turn the cheeks, or somthing of that nature? Have we shown our peers, its aight to be a Christian, to praise our God, go attend fellowship, to not drink or smoke? etc…… Have we done our part? Once we can answer positively to these we can then start pointing fingers…..
The churches have united and village groups are working but where is the government to pull all these resources together to make it work. We need leadership in Wesley.
Yes crime will take place but at the rate its happening it is becoming the wild, wild Wesley. Where is the Parl Rep is a legitimate question. We need her to provide leadership to move us forward to the next level.
When a person is elected, their responsibilities are vast and varied. One of the top things for Wesley is Crime and security. She cannot do everything but she must provide guidance with the help of the community to lead us. It is a social issue and a community issue and as ministry responsible for both, tell us what your plan is. You know of the problem for years now and don’t say that she cannot tell people what to do. You can present them with alternatives and provide an outlet for those who are idle to find something constructive to do. The next level is not to pass the blame put to gives us the tools to deal with the issues confronting us.
Crime is a national and government issue. The government have to find out the root cause of the problem and then impliment solutions. This cock and bull story that government don’t tell people to kill is not working. There is a problem, work with the people to fix it. Put legislation, security, social and community services in place to help curb crime in our community
Wesley again!!!! Can someone knock some sense in wesley people head, and tell them badness-out-a-style?
lol i checkin tht 2 wi
When did badness go out of style?
DA is just going thru a cycle. It will end but will not be anytime soon. If you look at most major cities, they go thru that. The only thing is, most of them big enough to overcome crime waves. Can DA overcome this one? Only time will tell.
now dis was suppose to be about a man shootin another man….CAN SOMEONE TELL ME PLEASE HOW DA HELL IS POLITICS LINKED TO THIS…???????????……….DA GOVERNMENT OF DOMINICA aka PM SKERRIT HAS NOTHIN TO DO WITH DIS…….DOMINICANS JUST HYPOCRITICAL….A MAN SHOOT A MAN N IS POLITICS ALLU MUST FIND TO TALK…..LEAVE POLITICS OUT OF SOMETHING FOR ONCE…….MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!
So true, but lets be honest. It is easier to blame someone else than to face the truth.
Yes there is a major lack of jobs.
To the parents – when your sons or daughters bring home something (like a blackberry) that you know you did not buy for them or that they could not afford, do you ask them where they got it from. We all want nice things, but when we know that we cannot afford them, we do without.
This is not about a man shooting another man my friend, this is about a small community with 9 unsloved murders in recent times and a rash of violent crimes at present, used to be that something would happen and for a long time there would be peace, thats life we can all live with that in an imperfect world, but dont tell me that if you lived in wesley you would not be concerned about what is going on. First, there are four very well known drug houses in wesley, known to everyone except the police. when was the last time you read in any article, that a drug house in wesley was raided? we see politics as red and blue, politics is involved in every aspect of a person’s daily life, and moreso as a community. Who gives the guidelines to the community as to what will and will not be tolorated? let us be realistic, if you have the majority of your able bodied men and women unemployed and idle all day long, there is going to be trouble,it is the job of the people who are the community leaders and organizers to impliment programs to keep the youth occupied, yes there will be a criminal element, but that will be much easier to deal with. You know what saddens me? when I go home to wesley and see guys that were hard working farmers and doing relatively well, either in the rum shop or outside the crack house, wesley was a bustling agricultural mecca, now there are no farms because people have lost their hope because the markets are not there for the thing that they did produce; so that speaks of leadership, because compared to marigot the crime rate in wesley is large percentage points above that of marigot, the reason is leadership. Say what you may about Eddison James but he is the undisputed leader in Marigot, so the people take there cue from their leader and marches on and then the domino effect is an upward one, making people believe in themselves. we need leaders who can say more than, I labor, or workers; we need people with people skills, and who really love people and want the best for them and their community.
some of what you sat is true , but no one should allow themselves to get to the gutter because you think a government is responsible . Did our parents and grand parents depend pn government to survive ? no .they toil and took care of all of us with the absence of crime . Dominica has a population of about 80 ,000, do you really mean that the Government should provide jobs for every one . God helps those who help themselves. The problem is that Dominicans of this era do not want to touch the soil , they want fast money , so they will look at your hard labor and steal it , take to drugs , destroy people’s children and bring destruction on our beloved country . Dominica is a Blessed country with so much natural resources why not explore the resources God gave us freely ? Why cant a group of men come together and get a lumber factory , water bottling , metal waste recycling and so on in place . Don’t you believe that the Government would lend a hand , oh no , they wont , why?
pulpar is powel par ,but the real name is Eden Road. Eden road is like lil jamaica it has always been that wa, the majourity of people living in Eden Rd is are immigrants from woodfordhill and Grand Bay, Anse d me , Bense, clifton etc etc.
Stop making excuses for Wesley people. They are all Wesley people and and that’s what they do best
@country GYal you must be one of the migrants lol. no one is making excuses. it is what it is and it affect all of dca.
shut ur meow. dont include other people in ur business. That little village (wesley) is a devil’s playground
Have u all not heard that the person who did the shooting is not from wesley?
how do u know it’s the devil play ground? u and the devil is company
I rebuke that in the name of Jesus my village is not the “devil’s playground”
no .. there is alot of people that lives in wesley and they are not from there.. no one should make excuses..we just want back our little wesley.. the violent free one .. i remember when the uwp was in power there was a vac school in marigot wher the idle kids use to go to spend their time.. this is not about politics but our so call palrep need to organize some form of leader ship for the young people.. and u will see how that will work
So the man being shot was the fault of the Government?
Are some people stubborn or wicked or stupid?
The person at fault is the gunman.
He was not given the gun by the government, he was not sent there by the government and the proceeds he aimed to receive from his action was not to pay the government.
Some segment of society will turn to crime to feed their needs.
Most of us turn to work. We get a job pay our bills and try hard.
Stop making excuses for De Voleh!
What should happen is we kill one every time they come into our homes to steal.
Deportees who went away to other countries picked up the bad habits, refined their skills and were deported are now trying to do the same thing here.
hat’s why i’m packing.
One man was held in connection to the shooting that took place
Wesley AGAIN!
seriously dominica de year 2011 just start wii awa wii take it easy(make it a new year new us)
Science has taught us that we were all can be taught, but God reminds us that he designed a plan for all of us when he allowed us to be born. Assume that you are a young person with no commitments but intend to, or that you are a single parent raising your child or children, or that couple with you family, given such an awesome gift. It may be financially difficult or emotionally challenging times, what isn’t but here you are reading this news report. Now assume that it was you were the victim and switch shoes, you are the accused? What are we doing and who is it helping? Our children that we gave birth to have bars built to keep them away, they are called murderers, drug dealers, menace to society, society scorned and so much more. Our adults have now compromised their moral judgments that they prefer not to speak up to ensure their portion, too ashamed to raise our kids anymore. Say what ever your heart leads you to say but we are all responsible. What are we doing, and where are we going, we are still a people with a good heart and sound dignity, pointing a finger when four is pointed back at us is an indication that something more is expected of us and we are not even listening. We have become immovable Mountains, unshakable Islands, kill with our words because of so much war in our hearts. Why?
Anyway the culprit is in the hands of the police and I am proud to announce that HE IS NOT FROM WESLEY!
if we look at most of the crimes that happen in wesley 99% of those who do the crime is not from our village
That is sooo true my dear…most of these culprits are persons who have migrated to Wesley from other villages..
Yeah try to take out shame in all you eye. Is Wesley he from.
true true
Yeah you wish he was from some other village. That is one place in Da i am scared of going at nights. As a kid we went playing football in wesley and they told us after the game we better don’t stay around until it gets dark. That was in 1987 and i was 16yrs old at the time. I have never been to that place since.
that’s a lie, Wesley was one of the most peaceful villages in DA, times have changed people got modernised, they now have a few dollars and so they forget GOD. Once we take GOD out of the picture the bottom falls out of everything. We need to stop the blame game and pray for Dominica.
I agree
He is from another village.Facts are stubborn things.
Don’t feel too proud about that. The Wesley people mentality still rub off on him.
Wesley was a very peaceful village untill every dick, tom and harry started to move into the village and take up residence, so please people if you do not know about Wesley people stop spilling wild accusation.
You should know ecause he is your relative
Let me begin by saying, WAKE UP MY PEOPLE!
I am from Wesley and proud to be! but the recent rise in crime is quite shameful!
MOT.. if u did ur research properly you would see that Wesley’s seat was won by UWP and not Labour. So your argument about severe crimes being in labour stronghold areas is null and void. I actually do not even see how you drew that reference. Oh and MOT how many seats did Labour win again? ok, so with ur “statistics” basically “severe” crimes (all crime is crime) are being committed in 95% of the island and “less severe” crime takes place in 2 constituencies just because they voted UWP? *I am giggling inside*
@well well.. the crime happened early Tuesday morning.. if I recollect correctly it is still Tuesday morning. Give the parl rep time to prepare a speech and give the local stations a phone call so a press conference can be held. I mean if that is what you want, because it seems to me that by a parl rep reading some words of a paper on national television, that all the crime in the village is going to miraculously disappear.
@concerned citazon.. Are you serious?? If I had to address you fully, it would be a 10 pg single spaced 10fnt sized letter, which would be too long for DNO. But I will try to be short and sweet! Are you unaware of your history? “Catholic church you say wii” Go to the library and read up on the Spanish inquisition, Christianity in the western world, slavery, the holocaust to name a few! Did you know that Adolf Hitler was a faithful practising Roman catholic? Now I am not one to preach about Christianity and I try not too and just so you know I am not an Atheist ! But by JAH (depends on the name you would prefer to call him) * Buddha, God, Allah, Jehovah etc.* Maybe we would be better off with out the 2 evils > (Politics and Religion) I have never seen a thing pull communities apart more than those two!
I do support and push for community togetherness! we need to put politics and religion aside and teach values and morals to our kids so that they can become upstanding citizens! & YES values and morals can be taught without religion. I do think that without the brain washing of religion that we can actually build a peaceful community! Now I know that as a people we need religion, health, morality, wealth etc. to make us whole as individuals! so that we can make decisions between right and wrong. Basically what I am trying to say is that we need Balance! No extremists!!
Bottom line : We need to stop thinking as small minded people in a small island. Crime happens! it is inevitable! as long as there is a sun in the sky, night and day, good and evil, ying and yang bad things will happen and can happen, we cannot prevent them, but we can make stricter laws that will probably for the most make them happen less, and with education, job creation and other means we can get crime into the 1% and maybe we can once again be the most peaceful place on earth!
Sir/Ma’am, FYI, Wesley sit was won by Teacher Gloria Dodds Shillingford for the DLP. she is more absent than Jerome Burke and Peter Carbon since the last General elections.
She had nothing to say after the drive by shooting of her former “bodyguard” Vaughn Dodds and the stabbing of the young woman so why should we wait 24hrs for her to give a written press release? Teacher glor does not care and we see that again. e’ve seen it before when she was Principal and we are seeing it again. She will not get my vote again for sure.
I will vote for Tiyani next election. I can seee that he cares about my well-being. Please mr Behanzin, come represent us.
Not “sit” it is “seat” it’s the latter that was won.
ok so the seat was won by labour, sorry for the misinformation .. at least someone is paying attention.. Anyhow…what does that have to do with crime in the village?.. more absent than whooo? Peter Carbon?? If I told you I saw Peter Carbon a day in my life other than on TV and when he was campaigning, I lie! at least she is in Dominica. Anyway.. I was not trying to make my comment political.. I am against blaming politics for everything wrong that goes on in our country. I like how you only nitpicked on the part of my post. Fact is .. no matter who is in power and who the parl rep is .. crime is going to happen! & if u understood my post you would see where I am coming from.. and ps.. what did u see b4 when she was a principal? Well I attended STAH for 5 years while she was principal and I attended Wesley Methodist church for 16 years of my life and took part in her Sunday school class. So please tell me about teacher Glor… After all, she is only human.. what are you guys looking for superwoman?
i like you guys were fooled by teacher Glor hehe he, you will be foooed a gain because wesley nag too damn hag.
Talk talk talk you talking too much! Stop and do ypur research, the Wesley seat was won by Gloria Shillingford. Wesley is a Labour seat not Workers. Get your facts straight.
the crime problem is all over dominica, not in any particular community. dominica is our country and we need to preserve it for our children and our childrens children. we need not blame anyone for we all are somewhat responsible. what we must do is to be honest, be each others keepers,to love and care for each other. we should call crime , crime no matter who commits it.no one is above the law and thus the law must apply to all
Dominicans are always looking for someone else to blame except themselves. The onus lies with the individual. Did Gloria Shillingford send the youngman to thief, or Lee to shoot Vaughn or the young lady to stab her cousin ? Why are we so hypocrite?
Whether Labour, Freedom or Workers there has been and will always be crime. We need to examine our conscience and values..
We are too greedy, violent, jealousy and ignorant. We refuse education at all levels and indoctrinate our children with selfish thoughts then turn around and look for someone to blame.
We talk too much and fail to act positively. We focus on the negatives and things that will hurt a brother although we profess to be God -Fearing….
Dominicans bring in some positive changes in 2011.
wild wild wesley. what is going on?
WHEN WE TAKE GOD OUT OF DOMINICA AND REPLACE HIM WITH A MAN, NO PEACE WILL BE IN OUR LAND, GOD IS A JEALOUS GOD, DOMINICANS TURN BACK TO YOUR MAKER . WE NEED GOD IN DOMINICA.FATHER TAKE BACK CONTROL LET YOUR ANGELS VISIT OUR LAND, BIG BROTHER GABRIEL FIGHT OUR BATTLE IN JESUS NAME.
why do we blame the government for the sins of the ppl!! Everyone is there own individual and bmake their own choices the government is not there telling these ppl to harm each other! So bkilling sombody bis a way to relief stress then?? This is the devils doing and our ppl are surrendering themselves to fullfill the devils wishes!!this is nothing about government!! Stop playing the blame game! When the citizens do wrong we blame the government!! So who’s to blame when the goverment does wrong?? Do we blame th citizens or do we blame someone bigger than the government and when that person does wrong do we blame GOD?? Every one is responsible for their own individual choice,, wat the government needs to do is hang these suckers!!and castrate these child molesters!!!
sorry to disappoint you but we have to blame the gov’t ..long time we learn that idle hands are the devil’s tools! if the gov’t cant provide an alternative to idleness then they are indirectly to blame…feed on that a little
it’s the fare of god that’s lacking please my people get back to god and pray alway’s
These manifestations are all a by-product of the bad medicine that we have been taking intravenously. We have imported America’s lifestyle of MTV, pimp my ride, MTV cribs, peudo-gangstar rap videos, etc. Our eyes see more, and we want more…and if we can’t get more, we begin to enter the dark side of the moon. We want the big house on the hill, but we can’t afford it…We build roads and stadiums, but our society is infested with a fractured educational system, unemployment, beff-kokayers, corrupt politicians, power-hungry business men, a handicapped police force, voleurs, teenage pregnancy, fake gangstars throwing up stupid signs with their fingers, etc…Weh, leh, leh, mama…
this is the worst village in d/a
You quick to judge? Just make sure your backyard is CLEAN!
wesley is the Best village in followed by marigot , woodfordhill and calibishie. have you ever been to wesley . thats why so many come to wesley and stay. added bonus to the north east close proximity to the airport , dont hate
Thank you!
does your “S” stand for Stupid? cause thats a real ignorant statement to be making
Like!
we dont make ppl, we dont make their minds , so no peace talk or minister can change someone minds if they set their mind to do something so stop blaming ministers ..wat we need 2 do is get together and pray . prays is the only thing dat can help us get through wat we are going through now …
wat is happening to the peaceful dominica we had a few years ago……this country needs some prayers
Many are praying but maybe they need to get out of their Hypocrisy before they pray for a country!!!!
I sympathize with this gentleman for his problems and pray that people of Goodwill provide the police with the necessary info to put behind bars this unscrupulous individual, cowardly act.
I have noticed that Mr. Behanzin wishes to hold a peace conference very encouraging and note worthy. While I praise Mr. Behanzin for his efforts and that of his organization and especially his US based lawyer friend, there are a few observations I wish to bring to the fore.
I’m aware that the US based lawyer has approached Pastors, Evangelists, Priests, Minister of Religion among others, while visiting the US to be part of that peace conference, but what is glaring is that he has yet to make an approach to his friends at Q95, the persons who have now become sanitary engineers, while inciting violence, causing a great divide among Dominicans, spreading hatred by their utterances, can you asked them to cease all that they are doing and saying.
How can all, that is Priests, Pastors etc. embrace such an offer when you don’t asked those people to stop preaching hate and division. As a Magistrate yourself, I hope you’ll asked all people to stop the hate and divide so that we have peace.
Mr. Behanzin will you and the US based lawyer asked that Q95 stop that hate and division and allow Peace and Unity to take root in Dominica? I’m sure that is not asking too much of you. Will you publish any letter or press statement you make to Q95 on this matter so that Dominicans will know you’re serious and that you’re not just trying something new as it were?
Happy New Year to you, Sir.
I applaud Mr.Behanzin for the great work he is doing in Dominica, please dont stop, may God continue to guide and bless you.
Ooh-wee, ooh-wee, ooh-wa!)

We keep on surfacin’ (shoobe, doo-wa);
Thru the powers of the Most-High (shoobe, doo-wa),
We keep on survivin’.

Where is Gloria Shillingford in all this eh? What is she and Charles Saverin saying eh? They used to have all kinds of things to say about the absence of Peter Carbon,Gloria Shillingford is here in Dominica, living in Canefield, minding Canefield people business, putting problems in the Canefield Urban Council. Wesley people gave you their mandate go and be with your people in Wesley,go and be on the ground with them,go and tend to their issues,go and find out what are the social ills
plaguing your constituency, this constituency has been under scrutiny for a while now go create some empowerment within the village council so they can run adult education classes, teach tiling and other skills. Teacha Glor you and Saverin as minister of National Security allu toooooooooo silent. IS TIME FOR D MOOMOOS TO START TALKING!!!!!
she’s not God, even if she was in wesley living it would have still happen.
PEOPLE SOME OF UR COMMENTS MAKES NO SENSE WHAT CAN GLORIA DO THE CRIME ALREADY HAPPEN SHE COULD NOT HAVE PREVENTED IT.
thats true
amen
I agree with 100% i really like to know where she is even when they shut vauhgn i never heard this woman came out and give a speech on it, so really that’s what we come too vote for an illegal P M and no matter what is going we cannot speak, but i will say as Randy Arron i must speak when things like that is happen to us, i must speak and i will speak.
well said
Now you must politicise it ????????? Again politics in 2011??? Not ashamed??? Again so early in the New year. Displaying blaming attitude again so our youths will do wrong and yes blame it on someone.. and continue because when I do wrong it is not me .. it is someone else .. esp the system.. the government. What role model are we displaying to the young ones? Always blaming someone?
Wake up my people – let the scales drop fromour eyes and let us do something each and everyone of us in our community . The persons in the community can form the groups. What about you start something positive in 2011. Form the group and bring your suggestions as to the adult clases in the consistuency. The village council and the Government cannot do it alone. And for once be volunteers as well, if you love your fellowmen, it will not be about money alone.. Do you have a skill , then share and teach some of the young men /women in your community as well.
evry ting dat happens all u quick to call on politicians. can politicians tink for other person. time to stop dat crap
TRUE SAY!

as expected…DNO will approve the comment from Burrr…but reject my response….lol
This has nothing to do with Labaaaaaaaa….we too like to play the blame game. Lets all examine our conscience and turn to God. We need to re-establish the Family Units which are lacking in our Societies…. children making children, the young men disrespecting the young ladies and even the elderly…the young ladies no longer have Pride in themselves… young men want easy money and do not see the need to seek gainful employeement….this is whats lacking, AND its time Men stop being Just daddy’s but rather Fathers…take up there role and lead the family, guide the young men. To often we blame others, have we really examine ourselves personally??????
well said!!!!!!!!
Leave God out of this, Skerrit is u all god.
But don’t you think if the Gov’t was put Job is place for the past 10yrs the people would have work to do so they wont turn drugs and being lazy all the country,is the Gov’t to blame because they teaching people how to beg and dependant on people on other people so tell who to blame, well unless they bring back banana , etc things will never be the same back home for our people, thats why they have to go nowwwwwwwwwwww
Where are the jobs for the young men to find gainful employment? With all the roads that are been built……..BE HONEST who are the people who are gainful employed …..Are US DOMINICANS OR THE CHINESE?……although I don’t condone CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES in any shape or form…Because we don’t know who next…..WhO is To be blame for all this ……Is It not the the PM AND the Labour party gov’t?……….What is development for this people? …..Is it not a BEGGING, HAND-OUT MENDICANT SOCIETY?…….LOve your PM …BUT MY GOD FOR your safety as well as mine and others..STOP>>>>and ask the gov’t to create enabling environment for our peopleto be gainfully employed…DOMINICANS COULD NEVER BE WORKING IN CHINA ON CHINESE ROADS WHILE THE CHINESE NATIVE OUT OF WORK….STOP AND THINK HARD………………………………////////////
True say look at the problems and do not hide … you did touch on some of the real ills.
We need to examine ourselves and also see if we are indeed contributing to the ills of society. Al our young men are under the blocks. Our young ladies do not see themselves as temples of the Holy Ghost and they protray themselves as objects to be used. Self esteem has dropped to the lowest level ( displayed by some of us as well).
Probably in 2011, we need to go look for the lost sheep on the “Block”. They won’t come for spiritual food so we probalbly need to bring it to them?
Anyone with me on this? We will probably pray about this and seek our Father for clearance on that one. We have to do things differently not as before. Our young people are out and the enemy is destroying them. Did not Christ say that he (The Shepherd of our soul) came to get the lost sheep?
Now it is the time for people to go back to basic, when we were a praying people alll of these violence were not taking place so it is time go back to praying and stop blasting the catholic church becouse when we were the only ones we were a peaceful people where every bodyispected every body and the children were every bodies children, now u came and stated preaching disrispect and so our people have lost all repect, so go back to praying all of us
All these crimes come with development.
The policy makers campaighnning instead of putting legistlation in place to deal with crime situation in the country.
Gun Law?
Stupes.
Just a bunch of worthless Wesley young people trying to spoil the good name of Wesley. In the midst of all that….there a positive, vibrant and God-fearing people in that village. When will we learn to do good? When will we learn that when we do bad it affects a whole nation? The people who are hell-bent on destroying the place,or causing trouble are those who have turned their backs on church and God.Come on Wesley work to do….. on those knees and pray.I wish you all a Happy New year.
The gun man is not from wesley, he is from Castlebruce living in Wesley.
He is from Castle Bruce living in WoodfordHill.
i’d like to know if its against the law to walk with body armor,,,,or bullet proof vest etc,,,,cause the way peeps get killed these days i’ll consider having one,,,but i find it funny that most severe crimes occur in d.l.p strong holds,,,i mean c.n.n or fox would have carried such survey,,,this is nor reaching from the obvious,,,,
What we expect when our people from Wesley sitting with the devil and all the curruption going on in Gov’t what do we expect, we use to have so much young men and women Working everyday for our living now all that has taken away from us, young ladies trying to kill their own family, is just to much now am waiting to hear from the pal rep because they don’t speak out when things happen so i will be listening to her what she have to say.
Hello, you pointing fingers….what can the pal rep do? other than give a written speech…?? What have u done? have u spoken to your friends on the block? Have in interceed for your friends etc…so everything for us in Politics???? This is 2011…plz get over it…
f the Pal rep cannot provide any leadership then why is she there? The government need to step up and address the concerns of the community. Wesley have had many issues over the years and the community has tried and continues to find solutions but they need help from the government.
Stop blaming parents who have very little and is doing the best they can. Get rid of those drug dealers who are supporters of the Parl Rep. Get some gutts and disassociate yourself with the ones feeding the criminal activities in the village.
There is a social and security issue island wide and the ministers responsible need to get there act together and generate a plan of action to confront the problems. Stop putting all the blame on parents for not having a clear understanding of the issues facing Dominicans. If these criminal concerns are not addressed, I am sorry for the state of our country.
I honestly believe that the government is trying to place the blame on parents and society because they do not know what to do.
Are you insane???????
Dominica for sure u are right. I do not support the government that is in power now but blaming Glo is not going to help, there is nothing she can do to stop the violence. Our problem as Dominicans is that we blame everything on politics, that is y we will not get better. Grow up people it is 2011.
YOUNG MEN WHERE IS THE RESPECT FOR PEOPLE LIVES AND PROPERTIES? GROW UP MY PEOPLE
they are grown ups .The sad thing is they grew up without love or dicipline, if not all most of them. I

or attend a English course, because you are seriously making educated Dominicans like myself look bad…or maybe keep your comment short, there’ll be less errors…JUST SOME ADVICE
no disrespect, this is maybe a person who is not eloquent, as most of you , but they just want to contribute, and they write as they speak. but i pretty sure you got the message, and that is his or her intent, if it was in your favor you would let it go,just like the political situation in Dominica, both parties need to really take a course in POLITICS. HIT ME.
at least we all understood wat he had to say irrrespective of his errors with spelling
not everyone is as fortunate as u all! at least we understand what he is trying to say! smh!
@ Dominican for sure….
..or attend a English course/???? Then u have the nerve to say the person is making an EDUCATED person like yourself look bad…..Trust me my partner you didnt need any help from him…lol
Leave Linky alone! I always enjoy reading his posts. He is one of the smartest people on this website and his posts always make sense.
Live Long Linky. I love you……………………..
10 years ago dominica was the most peaceful place on earth………..wesley was a booming village…..lots of bananas and other produce….what changed? lord heal our land and restore peace ,love and joy
labaaaaaaaaaaaaaa….lol
Amen!
No more bananas, the market has gone down. So since its a farming community with less farms.. more idle hands.
Face the facts.
And you know as contained in the Old Testament: “…If My people who are called by My Name humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways I will heal their land…”
This is the only condition that the land will be healed and crimes will be eradicated.
As long as there are those who refuse to worship God and if others become humble in their words (as on this Website) and perform good deeds in Jesus Name, there will be no healing for Dominica or any other land. That is the truth of the matter which Christians should know very well.
