Marpin and SAT seal Olympic deal

Acting GM of Marpin 2K4 Pericson Isidore

Subscribers of Marpin 2K4 Ltd who were concerned that they might not have been able to see the 2012 Olympic Games can now put that to rest.

That’s because the company has successfully negotiated a package deal with SAT Telecoms which has exclusive rights to the games in Dominica.

Acting General Manager of Marpin 2K4, Pericson Isidore, told DNO that the aim of the company is to ensure that its subscribers are happy and from January 2012, Marpin has been in intense behind-the-scenes negotiations with SAT.

“SAT has the exclusive rights for the games and so we had to sub-lease from them at a cost which we cannot disclose,” he said.

Isidore said a key aspect of the arrangement is that it will be at no extra cost to the subscribers. He said both parties were happy to have reached an agreement and they were able to sign the contract on Wednesday.

“We had no price war…but we finally reached an amicable and workable agreement satisfactory to all parties concerned, the broadcast of the games will add further value to our customers,” Isidore said.

SAT obtained the exclusive rights to the games through International Media Corporation (IMC) earlier this year.

Thank you, very well appreciated, but tell the Jamaican IMC staff stop dominating the show. Too much analysis and not enough of the events are being shown. Besides, their analysis is very confusing.

Good tactics mr. Alexander. Would have done the same. Wait till the last moment to get the max. number of subscribers to switch to SAT and do a deal with your competitor to wring the max. earnings out of your investment.

I remember last Football World Cup, Marpin2k4 had exclusive rights and we the customers with SAT did not get to see the games because the two companies could not reach an agreement.

I really hope that in future this does not happen again.

Remember the whole reason for introducing ‘the box’ into Dominica is to introduce Digital cable as opposed to analogue since mostly all the stations are switching to digital….that is why marpin still has Latin Disney since that is one of the few choices in Disney left in analogue. In order for us to develop further as a country, we need to stay on par with worldwide technology. Work still needs to be done to perfect digital cable, and take note that Marpin will have to initiate it as well very soon

Good to see this promising Mahaut lad leading Marpin. I happen to know this young man and I can sense the fire burning in his guts..he wants to deliver and he wants to succeed. And you can tell by his comments on the negotiation to bring the Olympics to viewers, te takes his job very seriously.
Let’s hope the board of Marpin recognizes Mr. Isidore’s talent and act to appointment him general Manager in a timely manner.
As someone who is involved in business I can tell your viewers categorically that sometimes good management candidates can be spotted early and Mr. Isidore’s sure footed competence should be encouraged and developed. He has considerable potential.

Or a jealous loser who has not achieved anything in his or life. Unfortunately, there are many of those angry idiots around who won’t miss an opportunity to vent their dislike of young people who strive to move ahead.

Well done. While we are congratulating people at marpin, may I say that Edona Jno baptiste is like a breath of fresh air at the station. This week she demonstrated that she is willing to take her career to the next level(no cliche intended). Well done young lady, just continue being natural and you will go far.

Great!! Now marpin needs to tell us what channel the games will be carried on and times of events etc. Too many times we have big events like this and subcribers don’t know where and when to watch for certain sports.

If you guys have NBC sports then you should be able to see the Olympics. I think NBC is the network that has exclusive rights.

IMC has exclusive rights for the caribbean. marpin or Sat could be charged if they show it on NBC. Educate yourself before you come and give bogus info.
