ACM condemns Jagdeo’s characterization of journalists as vultures and crows

Jagdeo

The Association of Caribbean Media Workers (ACM) has condemned statements by Guyana President’s Bharrat Jagdeo, referring to journalists as vultures and carrion crows.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the ACM said it regarded the statement as inflammatory and designed to endanger the lives of media practitioners and their families.

The ACM said the organization which represents media workers throughout the Caribbean, could not allow President Jagdeo’s inflammatory statement to go unchecked and as such called on the Guyana President to publicly apologize and retract his statements.

I agree with the president of the ACM those politicians do not want journalists to hold them accountable for their misdeeds!! There is nothing more they would like for their shenanigans to go unreported! Do your work journalists your responsibility is to the public not to rotten politicians!

Why don’t the ACM concentrate on scolding the many’unscrupulous’ so-called journalist amoung its ranks and providing better training for them instead in engaging in constant confrontations with Caribbean government officials? Is this the role of the new Caribbean media these days??????

AGREED!!! It’s time someone tells it as it is. Although there are a few genuine reporters in the region, there are now far too many (and rising) who are just out to push personal (and usually political) agendas. Their aim is not necessarily to put forth the truth and honest reporting but to engage in character assasinations and attempting to sway public sentiments into the direction of the selfish agendas.
