    Edlyn, it seems you have some more to learn about being an “immigrant” from those folks at Tate Publishing. According to the reviews on Ryan Tate and that company on google…. it is not looking good, especially for “immgrants” or people with accents. But good luck. I will be purchasing one of your books.. just not from Ryan.

    Miss Harris!
    My congratulations to you my dear. my daughter is a born Dominican just like you. did well too., she wrote a book, but fiction, I will be looking out for your book, and support my people. It’s attitude like that, that keep these idiots in darkness. Not for publicity, but the book is [ Bottom Beach] by Doctor Laurent. What some people don’t realize, even though we may catch our tails when we move to other places, God does shine his love on us and we are able to come out real bless. Lots of Dominicans are doing well overseas, and what people do not know is that Dominica is profiting from it too. Let those ignorant people spit their venom, it falls back right on their faces. Congratulations Harris

    @george:
    U are a foooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool.. I really hope ur last name is not Goeroge. Alot of my family went overseas to help support the rest of the family in D/a some of them evern came back and opened up businesses. So who da Fack are you to judge? Because you can’t or maybe are not able to travel abroad and start something positive to help support the island you maybe sour. All I can say is that you need to change your mind set. It is very out dated.

    To George

    You do not have any idea how hard it is for most of us who have left our homeland, and to travel to another country, seeking permanent resident. But we do, because we seek for development in Life, that we cannot find in our homeland at the time. And most of the time our situation of Life is a plan of God that no one can change.

    I hope you will change your mind and try to read Edlyn Harris’ book which is entitles Life As An Immigrant. I am sure she has a moving story to tell.

    I have a book to publish as well, not of the same content; but it does say that I am from Dominica. It is possible that if Edlyn and myself did not leave Dominica we would never have the privilege to write a book. But a successful book does not only make a name for the writer, but also for the homeland of the writer

    It is true that some of us will forget about our homeland as we adopt our home in another country even to die and be buried there. But the majority of us hope to, and do return to our homeland with whatever we have accomplished from living in another country.

    Many of our accomplishments include higher education, contemporary lifestyles, and skills that we can use for the development of our homeland. The pension income from another country that we will spend in our homeland is one example of returning home for the benefit of development and growth.

    @george, first of all let me inform you that I am a proud Dominican! I do not need to sell nor will I be providing books in Dominica to be sold, so if you think I am looking to make my pocket fat on Dominicans you got it wrong dear! Before you make a fool out of yourself be sure to have facts to back it up friend! I have migrated for reason and was bless, and by no means would turn my back on Dominica, I own a business there which is providing jobs to Dominicans and if you think of people turning their backs on beautiful Dominica is because of people like you! I will be praying for you my friend!

    Actually I think we should should read the book first before making any negative comments about the woman. Too often we say things before thinking.

    @george:

    yeah but these people promote Dominica to the outside world and assist family. So they indirectly contribute.

    Yes there are those who just turn their back…but walk a mile in her shoes first before making such a brash statement. We in DA are too good at making brash statements without foundation.

    Every Dominican has a role to play and it cannot be done by just staying here.
