Nation of Islam leader warns against abortion

Farrakhan addressing DSC students

“The act of abortion should never be an option.” This is one of the many messages that leader of the Nation of Islam, Louis Farrakhan, left with Dominican audiences during a two-day visit to Dominica.

He made that appeal to students of the Dominica State College (DSC) when he addressed during his visit.

Farrakhan told the students that while the age of consent at “16 years” makes it legal for young people to engage in sexual activity, careful consideration should be given to choice of partners and end result of those choices.

“Once you start having sex, you have the right to open your knees to somebody that’s going to be responsible, but once you get pregnant you will see how much he likes you after that,” he said.

The controversial Muslim leader went on to tell students that despite the available options, they must reconsider the act of abortion given that their child could be the next person to make a significant difference in the world.

“Once you get pregnant, this womb of yours, sisters, is sacred. That’s where God operates, in your womb…..the next scientist to overcome disease, the next leader to lead the people to their destiny will come from your womb….so the protection of your womb is critical for the future of Dominica and the world,” he stated.

“An unwanted pregnancy may interrupt one’s education but once the act of abortion or killing life has started it is not easily stopped,” he warned.

Louis Farrakhan was born Louis Eugene Walcott on May 11, 1933, in the Bronx, New York. He joined the Nation of Islam in 1955 and in 1978 led a breakaway group of the Nation of Islam that preserved the original teachings of Elijah Muhammad. In the 1980s, Farrakhan was criticized for makings anti-Semitic remarks; he denies being anti-Semitic. In 1995, he led the Million Man March on Washington, D.C.

Farrakhan was in Dominica as part of a 13 nation Caribbean tour which took him to Barbados, St. Kitts and Dominica among other countries. He left here on Monday.

I think everyone has their right to give their opinion on the things that pertain to life.. God is a man and he gives us basic instructions in the Bible and we follow them.. So this has nothing to do with if you ever carried a child or not!!

Anonymous, you claimed to be a Godly christian woman. You may kick God out of the government of America. But for your information the God you are serving has not exempt Himself, you should know.
“….That the MOST HIGH GOD rules in the kingdom of men,and appoints over it whomever He chooses”…Daniel 5:21.
The first job of a leader is to,protect LIFE,maintain law and order so that we might live in peace and quietness.1Timothy 2:2-3.
Alternative to Obama? when he became governor of Massachusetts many years ago, every bill that came on his desk in support of abortion and same sex marriage he vetoed it.But as you should know 89 percent of the elected members were Democrats,so some of the vetoes were override by them.

Since you are my sister in Christ lets go down memory lane.
If a mother goes to an abortion clinic to kill a baby in her womb, and it so happens that the baby survives the abortion.OBAMA believes that this little baby who is born alive should not be allowed to alive.OBAMA said It would be a “BURDEN” to a mother’s original decision to assess and treat them.He made this statement on April 4 2002 while on the floor debating this very issue as state senator of Illinois.Three times he had the opportunity to vote on this matter,March 30 2001,March 6 2002 and April, and not once he said yes.
August 16 2008 He was asked this ? in Rick Warren church (may be u saw it on TV)
“At what point does a baby gets human right in your view?” here is his ans.
“Answering that question with specificity uh you know is.. is..uh above my pay grade.”
I have plenty to say I did not even touch his position on same sex marriage, which you know is an abomination.

I have been reading some of the comments on here based on this news article, and i see the willy lynch syndrome is alive and well in us blacks. We reject anything black, but worship a white jesus.

If god is a blackman and ask we blacks to believe and worship him most blacks will go straight to hell. We are a sad and doomed race and the whites understand our mentality thats why they enslaved us…

More “wisdom” from Farrakhan, I see. Never mind the abortions that save mothers’ lives, the abortions in the case of rape victims, the abortions that are necessary because a girl made a mistake and cannot raise a child at that point in time. Yes, we all need to be careful with intercourse, and it’s true that teenagers are having children at an alarming rate. It’s true that both very safe sex and abstinence, depending on your point of view, are good options (though the first, in most cases, is better). But abortions MUST at least be an option, especially in the case of rape.

Louis is the very reason why abortions are necessary option! Who the H is he to tell women what to do? It’s easy to givce advice when you don’t have the responsibility. Women aren’t men slaves. These Dominican men are so loathesome most don’t even take care of their seed yet you want to come here and tell women what they should and shouldn’t do? Why do you go back and speak to your african american population of baby mamas and papas? A woman has every right to get an abortion as she see fit. What about in the case of rape? Should a woman, a child or a wife who has been raped by some dirt bag be forced to keep a child like that? Not my child? Not my sister, not my mother, not any of my female cousins or friends would ever do that. You sickening black men are the very reason why black women resort to this by the way because you never step up and take care of your kids or have the decency to love a woman where you can possible ask her to be your wife. WOmen have your abortions. If there’s a god he gave us the intelligence to create methods and ways to get rid of anything that brings a us distress. Women power!

They are an absolute abormination!

More like abortion is usually the option. If abortion is murder, then so is pulling out/ condoms and other forms of contraceptives. When you pull out possible children of the future are left to dry on your bed… Already the earth full of children doing mischievous things and not learning.. It’s really the person choice to do what is right and to know if they can tend to the needs of the child… but if you can’t deal with it get rid of it.

I have been noticing that a number of young Dominicans are turning toward Islam for solutions to their challenges and disappointments. This seem to be the vogue nowadays. It is almost reminiscent of the days of the hippie, the dreads, the rough tops, etc., etc.. With Islam, there is a dress code which is deeply rooted in the environment of aridity, male dominance and polygyny. But I see local Muslims adorning themselves in clothing which reflects the culture of the east. So, I am at a lost as to why Muslims MUST dress the way they do even in geographical areas like Dominica.

    • Muslim_Always

We need to learn to accept the fact that people are different and will have different beliefs – Because you don’t believe in something does not give you the right to inflict your beliefs on some else or crucify them for their beliefs.

Get with the programme – we’re in the 21st century – its ok to educate people but its wrong to inflict your belief on someone else, its also wrong to assume that your belief is golden and your way is the right way. No one has the right to decide what an adult woman or man for that matter should do with her body – no one but her or him!

Abortion is murder of a human life. Fullstop. People want to have sex but don’t want to face the consequences. BTW those Dominicans who claim to be godly or Christan and support and voted for Obama, how do u justify you believe and the fact he promotes and advocates, abortion in all forms…partial birth included?

Farakkan is right about this one. Abortion may be legal but it is not safe and has life-long consequences especially for the woman. I know that for a fact.

As a Godly Christian woman, the way I justify supporting and voting for President Obama is the fact that I understand that there is such a thing as separation of church and state. President Obama does not seek to impose his personal beliefs on anyone (which by the way he is entitled to have even if he is the President). He is, however, obligated to ensure that all citizens of his country have certain rights, whether or not we agree with them. And, besides the alternative to President Obama also supported pro choice until he switched sides to accommodate a certain group. So what would you suggest…..not vote?

@ Anon He is when we wants tax payers to pay for abortions through organizations like Planned Parenthood. He is not saying it is only his ‘personal conviction” it is his “political Platform.” He advocates it as Another acceptable procedure for women, perfectly normal. Sex is normal. Abortion is NOT no matter who tries to sell that bag of deceit to you.

Stay faithful to the Word of God my beloved sister in Christ and not to any man whether he is the great Obama himself. Do not be deceived God is not mocked. We cannot keep killing innocent, defenseless babies made in the image of GOD and expect God to reward us and bless us. NO Way. In the meantime women are damaging their wombs and left with both physical and emotional trauma and scars. If a woman wants to destroy her woman then no one can stop her. But She has NO right to destroy/murder another human life in the process. These are the facts. No Myths here. One Love. Let’s continue to pray for each other.

I agree with citizen but I don’t think anyone wants to use abortion as a form of contraception. No-one is pro-abortion but rather pro-choice meaning a woman has rights to her body. If you want to reduce abortions, make effective contraception freely available: http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/observations/2012/10/04/free-birth-control-access-can-reduce-abortion-rate-by-more-than-half/

When I said as a form of contraception i was being a little indirect – What I meant was sometimes a woman has 3, 4, 5, God knows how man abortions – to me thats is a bit deliberate. Instead of finding preventative measures… they take risks.

Keep your opinions to yourself a woman has the right to choose. Its funny how men always want to tell a woman what to do with her body, sorry Mr. farrakan you are not a woman and even if your religion like all the rest is all about controlling the vagina little by little people are getting wiser to your manipulations. My advice to young people is to have safe responsible sex choose your sexual partners carefully protect yourself. If you get pregnant and it is not the right time for you to have a baby you should have the option to have an abortion.

It seems like some women dont know how to control
their vaginas that a warning has to be sounded to them..Sex is to be done in wedlock for pleasure and procreation..Then after all the abortions are carried out out of wedlock the womb is too weak to carry a baby during wedlock…Hence miscarriages upon miscarriages… Learn to control your bodies..Abortion is murder..God created humans and placed humans on a higher level than animals so a baby cannot be compared to a chick.

People needs to chill on this abortion thing – having an abortion is the choice of the mother – you’re better off having a termination than bringing a child into a world where you cannot take care of them – society is already filled with dysfunctional families.

That being said – an abortion should not be used as a form of contraception. Mistakes can happen but if you’re making a habit of it – then I can see why it should be illegal.

If you cannot take care of a child – you should not have one.

Yes its a choice – its a choice a woman has to make based on the circumstances in her life at that time. No woman should have that right taken from her … none, no matter her race or religion. I recently read an article where in Ireland a married woman who would have been happy to have a family and perhaps raise it beautifully, died because she was refused an abortion – the baby had died in her – because of the fact that the country’s strict rule makes it illegal – boils down to religion – they are Catholic over there.

Honestly – people should stay out of each others decision unless it directly involves them – let women choose whether they keep their baby or not – its their right.

I also think – if you are pregnant past 12 weeks you should not have an abortion – left it too late! After that point, due to the fetal development, it can be considered Murder.

To those who are saying that abortion is not a choice let me remind you that every decision is based on a choice. You can choose to be the killer of an innocent being or give a child the right to live. However I cant understand why abortion is not seen as taking the life of a being. Abortion is wrong. We should not condone this, especially when it is performed at 5 months plus. Having an abortion at 4 months plus is no longer abortion, it’s murder. There needs to be sanction against doctors who perform late term murder of a child in a mother’s womb.

Citizan that is why one have to practice safe sex. Hence there will be no need for preforming an abortion. There will be no need for the woman to think she can’t afford to take care of herself and a child. Tell the dam man to put a cap on it until you are ready for motherhood. And besise am sure that the money that is used to perform the abortion and buy baby things. Old ppl say once the mouth slip it must eat. Abortion is WRONG unless used when intented to safe the mother’s life. There is no text in the word of God to support abortion.
