New Jungle Bay Resort will be bigger says Sam Raphael

Sam Raphael speaking at the Diaspora Forum (Video screen shot)

Developer of the new Jungle Bay Resort now being constructed in the Soufriere area, Sam Raphael, says when the facility reopens in 2019, it will bigger and better.

“We are opening for business in 2019, far more resilient, a little over twice the size that we were before; going to  employ way more than we did before. The feed back on it, it’s just been phenomenal,” Raphael stated at a government-organized Diaspora Forum recently.

He said there were some “tremendous, high-powered people” involved.

“We have the second highest ranking Buddhist official in the world. He has a congregation of over 100 million people. The Karmapa Lama is also bringing in a number of people to do retreats at Jungle Bay and those are just two examples of some of the CBI citizens,” Raphael said. “So, it’s not just the money we’re going after. Again..they are Dominicans by CBI. You are Dominicans by the womb, by birth or by marriage. All Dominicans, we are the assets of this country and it’s about bringing us together and doing something about your country.”

Raphael decided to build the new resort at Morne Acouma in the southern part of Soufriere after the original Jungle Bay Resort which was located in Delices on the eastern coast of the island, was severely damaged by Tropical Storm Erika in August 2015.

The new Jungle Bay Resort will include about 120 villa suites and in terms of buildings, there will be 60 of them where guests will stay. There will also be an inside and outdoor restaurant that hosts about 150 people.

The project is being funded under the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programme .

Hello and good morning my people. Well Mr Raphael suppose you have a falling out with our Prime Minister can he claim the hotel because it’s bring built with CBI funds which is money from out treasury. I can’t see how this hotel can be yours when it’s being build with our government money. There are a number of new hotels being build but we don’t have the over night staying guest to make them profitable and the roads are in poor condition just to get to this property. Anyway an coming home and will visit this hotel because I believe in supporting our economy.

Wow . Bloggers or posters, on this media, especially those belonging to the TIM TEAM gang ( pac) never cease to surprise me.
Here is a Dominican who returned to his homeland to contribute to the development of his country and the opposition force is trying to give him hells. WHY ? ……….I think I will stop now because what I will say DNO will not print . I will only add this “by their blue colour you shall know them”.

Skerritt had you sing for your hotel. You decided to join Skerritt to try and inplicate the UWP in a corrupt scheme and this was in exchange for you to get to sell passports. Skerritt picked you as a winner so enjoy your spoils. But don’t you think that other people in the hospitality industry needed help as well even if they don’t sing for their hotels?

I used to stay at your place a few times. Now you have taken a path which goes against my nature. Good luck Sam, you won’t see me at your place again. I hope you have an exit strategy if Skerrit loses the next election.

It seems like we have let the love of money become our priority instead of contributing to helping our people get on their feet again. Our parents, who did not even have a “so-called education,” were smarter and filled with more wisdom than some of the modern businessmen and women. They owned property, land and livestock and life was better in those days as far as togetherness. They worked together, ate together, danced and shared together. From the moment foreigners started coming to DA, things changed for the worse. The class system was introduced, and religion and politics became the two institutions to segregate us as a people. The church, which was also involved in slavery, caused more division than anything. The priests became Massa over the people by using religion, which has perpetually done a number on us. Then the politicians followed suite as well. We were not born with a religion or politics and as long as these two institutions exit, we will never be free.

Your memory is short brother. You seem to forget it was foreigners that brought us here from Africa in the first place. The mess we are in today is all home made, we are independent are we not.

        November 7, 2018

Slave masters brought our fore-parents here, used them for their own good and set them against each other. The lighter ones against the darker ones. Thence, the class system was instituted. You need to know your history. African History, instead of all the European history that has caused our demise. A good reading is The Willie Lynch Letter. As a result, the descendants of slaves have perpetually been divided. That’s why it is left to us, to know our history (African) and rise up from that degradation of His-tory. Further readings and research are by some of our great African scholars, Dr. Ben Yochanan, Professor James Smalls, Booker T Coleman, Dr. John Henrik Clarke, Ashra Kwesi.
When your mind is liberated from mental slavery then you are INDEPENDENT. Why is it that we still have the face of that queen on our money and why do sell our passports to people of whom we have no knowledge, and why do we depend on foreign countries to come to the island to build? What is INDEPENDENT?

ADMIN: Your appoints are appreciated, we encourage everyone to read their history and critically scrutinize any document that makes historical claims. There is significant evidence that questions the validity of the Willie Lynch Letter. Deception can only be effectively countered with truth. Do you realise that the foreigners were the ones who enslaved your fore-parents? If you need to know African history, please do your assignment and stop living in the world of the Caucasians (who lived in the Caucaus mountains in Europe). Why do you think they didn’t not want us to know our African Story? They wanted us to be eternal slaves just as Willie Lynch suggested in The Willie Lynch Letter. Stop letting the Cave man tell you who you are and find out who you are from your own kind. Suggested readings: Dr. Yosef Ben Yochanan, Professor James Smalls, Ashra Qwesi, Booker T. Coleman. Unless you elevate your mind, you will never be INDEPENDENT. Tell me, if you think you are INDEPENDENT, why is the queen’s picture still on the money that you use? And why are we selling our passports to foreigners of whom we have no knowledge, who could have well committed crime in their countries? ARE YOU REALLY INDEPENDENT? If so, you would not make that comment you did. Emancipate your…

If you feel that you are trapped it is because you do not have the truth. So go search for the truth–like most of did–and you will know all about freedom.

And tell me, what is the truth? That jesus died for you two thousand years ago and that he is coming back in the clouds to to take you to heaven? Keep on waiting until you can’t wait anymore. You see, these are the myths that we have believed due to the indoctrination by those who who captured, bought and sold our fore-parents. As I have mentioned before, religion was used to captivate our minds and have us looking up to the clouds for gold while those who gave it to us are on the richest continent, Africa, reaping the gold.
If we do not elevate our minds from religion, we will never be FREE mentally and spiritually. We were made to be a religious people by force.

When I listen to the argument of the blogger with??????????’ it is clear that Domininicans that are willing to worship Skerrit are ready to bypass the local Banks and go straight to Skerrit for CBI money to run their business. It is in that light that landlords especially in the Portsmouth area that lost their business, should not pay a cent to the bank and instead, allow the bank to take their property if what they owe is more than what their building is worth. Or ask Skerrit for CBI passports to sell so they could make their payments

You talking crap you ????????? Didn’t jungle bay employ people before? Was Sam given our passports to sell or he had to take a loan to run his business? Should we now shut down all our banks, since Skerrit’s way of doing business is to bipass the banks and just turn to Skerrit and his our passport money! That being the case every single business place that has people employed should shut down the bleddy place and go get money from Skerrit tax free. Can’t believe all you supporting this nonsense man

When one’s modus operandi is a cognitive or perceptual process distorted by the need to maintain and enhance self-esteem, or the tendency to perceive oneself in an overly favorable manner doomsday occurs. Such individuals tend to ascribe success to their own abilities and efforts, but ascribe failure to external factors. When they reject the validity of negative feedback, focus on their strengths and achievements but overlook their faults and failures, or take more responsibility for their group’s work than they give to other members, they are protecting their ego from threat and injury. These cognitive and perceptual tendencies perpetuate illusions and error, but they also serve the self’s need for esteem.

Dominicans by CBI are not genuine Dominicans. We should never confuse the people about that. Otherwise we will fall into Messrs Skettitt and Savarin’s trap of allowing overseas voting in our elections in which those passport hucksters will be alowed to vote and completely subvert the sovereignty of the real people of the island. That would be the final act of self-dispossession which would finally see the demise of the African/Kalinago control of the island.

    • Michael Norris
      November 6, 2018

Certainly, the vote of the people born in Dominica and living in Dominica should not be diluted. Their votes should determine the government of Dominica. This is why I propose having a Diaspora Constituency where people living in the Diaspora would vote for someone to represent them in the Parliament instead of allowing full-time overseas-based citizens to vote in the existing 21 constituencies. Their representative would not be allowed to participate in votes of no-confidence.

Say on, my brother. It seems like this administration is selling the the soul of Dominica to foreigners. Our people are so blind-folded that they can’t see what is really happening because they are bribed by pittance from the so-called Doctor, who did not even earn what was bestowed on him. My question is, why have we allowed politics to wrap our minds so much that we have forgotten to treat each other with love and respect? Pretty soon, foreigners will dominate the island, as a result of this CBI programme. We need to rise and stand against this nonsense and find our way again, just as our forefathers laid the foundation for us. We have forsaken the way of our fore-parents, and have accepted Massa’s way and this is what we are faced with. Our fore-parents must be turning in their graves because we have gotten off the track.

Wow Sam Rafael I never thought you were such a good worshipper. Sam you know the three Hebrew boys could do just like you and become millionaires? But when it was their turn to choose they said this instead: Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego replied to the king saying, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to answer you concerning this matter. If it is so, our God whom we serve is able to save us from the furnace of blazing fire and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. Yet even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods, nor worship the golden image that you set up.” Dan. 3:16-18.
    Moses could have done just like you and become a millionaire. But instead we read this: “By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter;
Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season”Heb. 11: 24-25 Your good days will soon end my brother and friend.

Sam is still holding some of UWP secrets so you have a right to be 😤 pissed 😡 off and blue vex.. Can someone please give Lenox a meaningful job or can you go to the nursing home and volunteer🦍? Skerrit is taking care of over 50000 people, therefore, he doesn’t need a job. On the other hand the wannabes PM, compares himself to the most high, never completed high school, doesn’t have a skill or trade, under educated, and wants to lead the nation of Dominica 🇩🇲, who fool you Linton!

“Never let a politician grant you a favor, he will always want to control you forever.” These are the instructive words of Bob Marley. Skerrit gave Sam Raphael CBI money to construct his resort and for that Mr. Raphael feels eternally committed to Mr. Skerrit.
Mr. Raphael, a CBI citizen can never be equated to a citizen by birth. A CBI citizen is usually one whose sole purpose of becoming a Dominican is for convenience and opportunity to travel visa free to a number of countries throughout the world. Most don’t know anything about the history and culture of Dominica. A citizen by birth is usually patriotic, fiercely loyal and can fully relate to the struggles, past and culture of their Dominica.
The CBI money is procured from the sale of an asset of the State, passports of Dominica. The money is not the PM’s collateral so you don’t have to crow so loudly to appease him and his loyalists.

  16. It's my damn old business

Businessmen should engage the banks for investment purposes. The CBI money should benefit the entire population not one opportunistic individual. The government should invest it in roads, bridges, agriculture, education, healthcare, national security, the justice system, etc. The government could help some local investors just like they do with foreigners. Give them duty free concessions on some imports. That’s only one suggestion which I will not elaborate on because of time and space. Go figure.

The average Dominican is getting nothing out of it, absolutely nothing. The few local people he is likely to employ will all be labour worshipers like yourself. Let me ask you one thing, what share does the State of Dominica hold in Sams business?? Please do answer that question for us. Since you are at it, what share does the State of Dominica hold in all the other ‘CBI hotel developments’. Let me answer the question for you: nothing, zero, null, not a cent. Skerrit uses all our passport money to give to his political friends to built hotels and we, the state of DA don’t even own 1% of those businesses. Does that make sense to all you Dominicans?? He and his friend become filthy rich and all you live in tarpaulin covered wooden houses and live on one dollar a day. Think about it! Let’s get rid of this cancer that infested Dominica and the upcoming election. Stop being fooled by Skerrit and his cabal!

Oh, and will you also tell the public that a project like that gets duty free concessions, a tax holiday of maybe 25 years and can send these profits offshore without restrictions. That is a recipe for money laundering brother. All the locals get is a small wage, the lowest in all the OECS.
