I want to say congratulations to the young men who took part in the show. We always say that the place has no entertainment, and when we get entertained, some of us are not satisfied.
The show was not a gay show, regardless to who was or was not gay….. Just remember it is our straight husbands, sons and brothers etc that hooks up with gays. So when we say gay, are we sure which of our men sleep with them…. please d your homework and investigate to see which straight man is their partner…. alot of us would be suprised. I do not support homosexual lifestyle, but I am God to judge them either…. There are many sins we commit everyday under the pretense of holy life and we are so spiritually dead. God bless us and our country Dominica, may we clean up our own mistakes before condemning others.

Pple I understand all those who dont believe or is agaisnt gay but at the same time are you going to judge others which is also a sin and which is one of the biggest thing stressed by god dont judge and he shall not be judged, leave all judgement for the father. i dont expect for pple to like the show but all those who do thats their opinion and you need to learn to respect that. homosexuality as we all know it is an abormination and we all know it but compearing it to other sins to make it look good its not right its wrong its wrong but we cannot hate or make war with pple that is GAY cuz they havent done anything to you. you may nevver know who you meet down in life and may have to help you and what is the person is gay? would you put up a front for all you care they’re not sexually active with you that is just not your business. What if your son turned out to be gay and you tried and make him do all manly things just so he wont turn out gay and still ends up. Are you going to kill, distroy or neglect your child due to that. LOVE makes a different help the child with love at the same time you can let know the GAY pple you dont agree to their sexuality and it not right to god but you cant hate and point fingures at no one its there life not your god gave all of us choices and so just respect and help pple but bashing at pple like this will just make them retaliate more and provock you cuz they kno it upset you. AND PPLE BE REAL THE SHOW WASNT GAY AND BEHAVE YOU GUYS SELF IT WAS A GOOD SHOW. It have queen show giving the winners at queen show scholarships and to become and ambassador for D/A at least it can help the men of D/A to get the same. Who cares if some of the participants were gay but the show wasnt gay. AT the same time pple we should not promote gay but we must accept them for who they are and even if a gay signs up doesnt make the nature and the goal of the show to be gay. Be real christains and not stressing on only one text phrase in the bible to comfort us and our opinions but watch the bible from all angles, so we wont us key text to make war with others and thats the last thing GOD wants us to do.

Watch out for the guys who are getting all uncomfortable about this show, pointing out which one is the most gay etc, etc. They are the ones who are uncomfortable with their sexuality and are simpley projecting. Hats off to the young men who could brave the close-mindedness of our people and produce a show which I heard was excellent. Why so much interest in the men’s sexual preference? We are a bit more enlightened now. Those bashing the guys are usually the ones with skeletonssss in their closet.

AS A PROGRESSIVE DOMINICAN, I HAVE NEWS FOR YOU THAT WE IN DOMINICA HAVE NO TIME OR PLACE FOR A MENTALITY LIKE YOURS AND YOU’RE CERTAINLY NOT SPEAKING FOR ME AS A DOMINICAN.

A HARMLESS TALENT SHOW WHERE MEN ARE NOT HURTING, RAPING, TAKING DRUGS OR SELLING IT TO OTHERS, NOT STEALING PEOPLE’S STUFF, NOT ABUSING OTHERS AND YET DOMINICANS ARE BEING SO UNJUSTLY MALICIOUS AND CRUEL. THAT IS NOT THE DOMINICA THAT I WANT ANY PART OF!!!!!

As a christian nation we should protest against this. We even promoting being fat/ plus size. Its all down hill from here. The ones who are not gay should be ashamed of themselves. Most people came to laugh at you all!!!!

      February 11, 2012

So because we are a christian nation we cannot encourage plus sized women in the same way that we encourage the slim chicks? Is being plus-sized un-Godly? Some people don’t think before they type.

But you can’t push Christianity OFF on other people. More over you cant FORCE YOUR BELIEFS on other people. Now, its cool to have your own opinion, but its it one thing to down someone because they don’t think they way that you do. Traveling is FUNDAMENTAL Baby. Please explore other parts of the world, there are many religious, beliefs, cultures, etc out there. And most of you commenting that this show is is gay blah blah blah… hmmmm I see, we have more gay pll acting straight. while you are talking about someone else, ur father, brother, cousin well getting their groove on… think beyond that, the show was great and I would Like to say hearts of to all the guys Especially Lennard, I know you got some good goals ahead, maybe in the next few years you might be a millionaire who knows, you are so bright. Hearts of to your girlfriend as well I knw she gave you alot of support. Guys coming out to the show alone proved that you are guys. Also to Bram Sanderson, great job as well reping Wesley 100%..

you expect them to be fat, slim and trim, that’s model material the guys are perfect in size. We need to stop discriminating who ever is gay that’s their problem God will judge, but looking i the photos the show must have been great, congratulations to all the young men.

    February 11, 2012

Dominicans are just small minded no wonder no one knows who we are. I do not support gayism coz as the bible say it is an abomination. But it also indicates fairness and honesty. Give jack his jacket. This was never meant to be a gay show but to include the male population in the development of our beloved island. We are already ignoring the natural beauty of things and soon will no longer be called the nature island, so at least give people something to come to Dominica for.

We are the one who speculates and have our children goring up with this stupid mentality from birth of what society expects to be a man thing and a woman thing. I suppose our mind is just as small as our island, and underdeveloped as well. And we will keep in hearing “Dominica? Where is that? Haven’t heard of it”

I am appalled at some of the comments that I have read. I will not dignify them with a response. However I would like to a draw attention to my observations of the pictorial data provided on the show. Please look closely at the appearance of these gentlemen who I think take pride in their appearance…
There are no crusty knees, no hairy armpits, no crusty elbows, no untidy hair and there is not a grain of body hair to be found in the groin, legs or anywhere else that mars their appearance in any way. Their clothing falls perfectly and their bodies are taunt and appealing, a fantasy for the onlooker…..I think that the persons responsible for the presentation of the carnival queen contestants could sure use some pointers….. folks the guys have raised the bar! A tough act to follow given what the presenters of the women have put forward so far……if one is not careful onlookers will be tempted to become tourists to see these tasty morsels as opposed to those put on display as carnival queens……. where has all the feminism gone?

this is the reason why dominica’s development always gets stone walled, even when it’s a good thing for dominica, the people critisize the government, however my observation is,the church seem to have gone dumb all of a sudden,is it really hypocrisy,or sin cannot correct sin,wow this is fantasticaly amazing, skerrit it seem you guys altogether have become abominable, remember skerrit this is on your watch,i wonder if james and the UWP would have supported a gay show on their watch, some say it will help the young men from getting involve in crimes, well i am waiting to see how sin can make sin right, what a joke.

@ Bambi – In regards to your last sentence, supposing that person who goes into their private dwelling and lays with a child or animal claims(as do the partakers in the nastiness of homosexuality) that he/she was born that way and hence they have a right to practice their act free of discrimination from society how would you respond? Would you say well bestiality and sexual involvement with children is against the law of society? Isn’t the perversion of homosexuality also against the law in Dominica?

      • z.......
        February 11, 2012

Too bad the perversion of being an idiot isn’t against the law! You’re a complete idiot and you’ve left no space for smarts. I don’t claim to be an expert on homosexuality but I know straight men and women rape, abuse, molest animals and children. Its a fact and it has nothing to do with homosexuality.

You need to educate yourself on subjects before you decided to contribute to a blog which goes viral all over the world, and in the event you end up making a “FOOL” of yourself.

For your information paedophilia and homosexuality are too totally different issues and are in no means linked to the other, contrary to what misguided views like yours echo.

Absolute rubbish in your assertion and cease from spreading un-truths

        February 12, 2012

@Empowered1 – Paedophilia, incest and homosexuality all form under the heading of downright nasty, diabolically driven acts!!

Based on the reasons the partakers and supporters of the filth of homosexuality give to justify it, what hinders someone else involved in some other sordid act from using those same mind-warped reasons to justify and call for their rights to practice their acts?

    February 11, 2012

The organizers of the first Mr. Dominica Pageant must be congratulated for a job well done. You will go down in history as the first to organize such a show in Dominica and I am sure this will be an annual event to look forward to at Carnival time.

I believe it is not to early to already begin to consider a regional event that could be staged in Dominica. THE MISTER CARIBBEAN PAGEANT.

To all the haters who hate people because of their sexual preference, my question is WHY? and a possible answer… inferior complex, insecurity, jealousy… a lot of these haters are jealous of these guys and wish they could openly express themselves. and yes they get involved in the closet but while play heterosexual in the public. STOP BEING HYPOCRETE… and MYOB because many of you out there know it’s only time before you are found out.

Some of you use the bible to preach damnation and you damn yourselves first.

So Mora and company keep up the good work started… if these guys were involved in drugs that what some people would have liked… to see them in the gutter. CONGRATULATIONS every one , you were all WINNERS…

I believe that idea is a great one for having the “Mr Caribbean” or even “Mr West Indies” pageant in DA right around the carnival festivities in DA, but someone pointed out on here that another island has already began to host it but that shouldn’t stop the organisers from researching this to see whether that is true.

In the event that it is true another island already host such a pageant annually, then my suggestion would be to host the “Mr O.E.C.S” in Dominica annually. That’d be nice for DA.

While on the subject I remember those fun old days when Dominica hosted the “Miss O.E.C.S” pageant which became among the top regional pageants in the Caribbean and was held in high esteem, and the COC/Festivals Committee should look at reviving this, and perhaps do a collaboration with Da Young Rising Starts to host all of the above pageants mentioned.

I never understood why both the “Miss O.E.C.S” and “Mr Teen Dominica” pageants were ever discontinued in the first place, as those shows were of such good standard.

Look into into it COC/Festivals Committees as you can do it!

This was a fantastic show! But what was up with the host Kamala and Franklin? This went a little bit beyond cordial and Alex bruno song was very tacky and uncalled for. What a shame the men both were. But other that I hope we’re able to see a queen show of this caliber .

TO ALL YOU HOMOPHOBICS OUT THERE….. There are many, many, whose perception of you is that your FEAR comes from WHAT YOU KNOW rather than WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW. The show was great; the contestants went all out to put on a wonderful show which was very well received by those who attended. Please do not try to save the soul of others when yours is in jeopardy.

Most homophobes are closet homosexuals. They are just trying to distract attention from thier own personal conflict with this “afliction”.

I must take time off to complement all the brave young men who stepped up to the plate and gave tyhe patrons top class entertainment. The cowards remained in a corner just hailing cheap insults and idiocy.

Dominicans need to be a more positive! This was a show of high calibre with Superb performance by every one of these men. These men are talented and brilliant. Definitely a show of high standard and one which should be done annually. there was never a dull moment at this show, not in the men being feminine, but rather the amazement of their energy, talent and brilliance. Their ability to answer questions in a comfortable fluent manner leaves one to question the ability of many queen contestants to measure up. I applaud Ms Mora and her team, the sponsors, the audience who encouraged the young men and most importantly the young men.

Let us look at these men for the great individuals they are. Let us not continue to bring them down but see them as a person. Dominicans are best at bringing down their own…and by this we can never move forward. Judge not lest ye be judged!

Nigel Shanna Kester Ghandi Bram Augustus Lennard, take a bow and congratulations!

Pappy show! Who is organizing the science fair or small business idea competition?

    • February 11, 2012

Instead of you doing the typical Dominican action, sitting on the sidelines running your mouth and then asking, “who organising the science fair and small business idea” competition, why don’t you propose these ideas to the communities on the island, and collectively do the ground work research before trying to acquire sponsorship for this?

If you have an idea which you believe will be beneficial to the island’s development in whatever way, just as the pageant’s organisers came together with their hearts and minds, then run with it and go for it, instead of sitting asking ridiculous questions.

After all, it is your island as well, and you should be a proactive member and “put your money where your mouth is”, instead of spectacularly adhering to the stereo-typical “crab-in-the-barrel” behaviour/mentality, that sadly so many Dominicans subscribe to so well!

I didn’t get to listen to the show as it wasn’t carried on any of the radio stations as I’d hoped, but by all accounts from people who attended in DA, the pageant was of a very high standard, lots of fun and laughter , fused with high intellect and ability to converse on topical issues, resulted in patrons leaving inspired and encouraged that their ticket money was well spent, witnessing Dominican men being portrayed in a very positive light as opposed to the norm we often see or hear about.

Wish I was there to attend but hopefully it is made into an annual segment on the carnival festivities calendar in Dominica.

      FAB JOB DOMINICAN MEN!

I was just saying the same thing. Why she/he don’t step up and organize the Science Fair

  62. February 11, 2012

Many congratulations young man and may you continue to grow and evolve for the better during and beyond your reign.

Enjoy your (13 months) as “Mr Dominica”, seek to broaden your horizons and at all times keep your eyes and ears open to capitalise on any opportunity that may rise to showcase and highlight your island to the world.

Get involved in ventures taking place both in your community and the rest of the island, and give back whatever you can to help enrich Dominica.

Always remember to stay grounded as with “humility, respect for your fellow human beings, fused with confidence,(Remember not conceitedness)”, the skies the limit and you’ll continue soar to new heights.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to listen the show as DBS or any of the other stations as they didn’t broadcast it, and I am all the way in Manchester, England, but hopefully the organisers will have the sense to produce and sell a quality DVD which I’ll purchase.

Should you get the opportunity to participate in any similar regional and international pageants, always remember you are carrying Dominica on your head and must always put a positive effort forward. Good luck!

Well, best wishes and may the good lord continue to bless and keep you safe.

From the beginning i said this was so GAY show, ..seems like the acceptance of homosexuality is slowly being introduced into our Dominican society, A GOD FEARING NATION.

We as Dominican need to let them know that we will not stand for this!!!!

      February 11, 2012

Are you serious? Stop being such a hypocrite. In Leviticus it is stated that you will die if you wear clothing of a combination of polyester and cotton. Do any of you idiots even OBEY that? No. If you’re going to obey the god damn Bible, then obey ALL OF IT.

Whose business is it if they sleep with a man or a woman? Certainly not ours. If you want to be a homophobic, slander-spewing idiot, then fine by me – but DO NOT think that the entire country is going to agree with your unbelievably hypocritic ways.

      • Silence
        February 11, 2012

No, I am not gay; a supporter of the LBGT community, yes, but I am heterosexual, thank you.

It IS okay to be gay, and I don’t believe that it is your business what the men and women of Dominica do in their beds on Friday nights. What’s so wrong about being gay? A gay person can do manual labour, a gay person can go into politics – a gay person can be a responsible parent. Sexuality has nothing to do with personality and capability. A homosexual person is just as human as you and I both are.

      • February 11, 2012

Hear, hear and you tell enlighten this fool Silence.

Too many Dominicans want to choose which sin is by which sin is good. It doesn’t work that way and as you rightly stated if one is going to be draconian about the specifics of the bible then it needs to be done to a ‘T’ and not leave any sin out.

Which would mean that we are all sinners and should leave any judging to the lord above and know our damn places and our cat’s position. Stop trying to be GOD as you will never, ever be him and only he can judge us as and how he see fit.

‘We will not stand for this’ you wrote, but we will stand for incest, adultery, fornication, theft, lies and any other sin.

I didnot go to the show, but wished I had. If the pictures and most of the
comments are anything to go by, then I surely missed a good night out.

These young men have nothing to be ashamed of (gay or not). They all appear to be comfortable in themselves, and they all looked good.

I always wonder what would homophobics do if one of their sons turned out to be gay (especially the so called God fearing ones).

Hope there is a show next year, and if I’m around, I’ll have a front row seat.
