Low-cost carrier, Norwegian is expanding its seasonal nonstop flight service to Martinique to New York, the Caribbean Journal has reported.
The carrier will increase service from three to four flights from the John F. Kennedy Airport to Martinique beginning October, 29.
According to the Journal, flights will start at $79, one way including taxes between October 29 and March 23, 2018.
“Norwegian is excited to return to Martinique for the winter season 2017/18 as our service from New York’s JFK will resume in late October. We are very pleased that more and more American continue to discover such a hidden gem in the Caribbean that offers quite a vastly different experience to most other Caribbean islands – it’s like being in France, but without any jetlag and even better beaches,” Anders Lindström, Norwegian’s US Director of Communications, was quoted as saying.
This could be good news for Dominicans living in the New York area who want to avoid the San Juan hub when travelling to the island. There is a ferry service between Dominica and Martinique.
This means I can go down and vote for less than $200.00 including taxes. I will be casting my vote this time around.

PS.
Air Antilles Express. This French airline also operate a return flight three times a week between Fort de France and Barbados (Mon.Thu./Sat) operating an ATR 42, also used by Liat. However, the return flight with Air Antilles, out on 8 June and returning on 15 June would cost Euro 196.00 (= U.S.$.219.80 compared to Liat’s cheapest fare (departing and returning on the same dates at similar times) of U.S.$.313.70 – there is a cheaper outbound fare from Melville Hall to Barbados of U.S.$.145,00 but to qualify one would have to take the 07.05 flight for a paltry saving of U.S.$.15.00! It may be argued that Martinique is closer to Barbados than Dominica but this would still not account for the 43% higher cost from Liat.
Check also Air Antilles routes from Martinique to Puerto Rico and Miami.
Parasitic as usual Dominica! Very comfortable depending on others’ leftovers!
In the meantime, Sky Jet begins flights into St. Vincent’s new International Airport this month and Air Canada later this year!
All we need in Dominica is night landing (When there is no wind) for LIAT’s late flights!
What a hopeless country!
I checked the Norwegian website. It looks like the flights into Martinique are $79 but the flights out of Martinique cost more. Still a good deal though!
Hip, Hip, Hip, huRAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! so that means I will be on top of my breadfruit tree twice a month.
Liat, San Juan, Antigua and all the other undesireables ………go find another host to feed on!.
Dear ADMIN….can you please try to get the contact info on this airline. Thank you
It is painted on the front of the aircraft fuselage: norwegian.com. Good luck.

Just before these old Air crafts are decommissioned they are usually sent to the smaller Islands. Give us a couple new Air crafts, nuh!!!
Maybe Liat could provide the connection flight to and from Martinique airport to save the 2hr ferry service. Better still if it is from cane field instead of Melville hall. Just a suggestion.
There are connecting flights by Air Antilles to/from Melville Hall but it involves overnighting in Martinique.
That would be ideal Jules and we should always strive for the ideal solution.
It would be nice if this airline can start landing at Melville Hall, expecially for the reunion next yr.
The aircraft show n in the caption is a Boeing 737-3yo, part of the Norwegian shuttle fleet, built in 1991.
The min. take off distance for this type of aircraft would be 7.500 ft. whereas the runway at Melville Hall (DOM) measures only 5,761 ft.
That is apart from any commercial considerations that come into play.
Get all u jet airport, so all u want to live cheep?
What would be less nice, but a lot more realistic, would be early flights from DOM to FDF that allow Dominicans to get to Martinique in time to catch this flight, and evening flights from FDF to DOM that allow people to get to Dominica the same evening after this flight arrives. If Air Antilles could be persuaded to schedule this, preferably through a codesharing agreement with Norwegian, that would be absolutely spectacular for us.
Steve, someone like yourself would have to do such advocacy. We do not have a government neither a Ministry of Tourism with this level of clear thinking and foresight whatsoever.
Steve, couldn’t agree more but I suspect that the French authorities may oppose this. It would be in their interests for us to spend a few dollars in Martinique on the way.
But Titiwi, people who would doing this wouldn’t be choosing between Martinique and Dominica as a vacation spot, they’d be choosing between LIAT and Air Antilles as a carrier, so this would benefit a French company.
Dominica stay kanana again
$79, oh baby baby baby ohhh
Imagine, the airport departure tax in Dominica is U.S.$.21 -., that is 27% of the air fare! Martinique not charging separate departure tax. You think Dominica is serious about developing its tourism?
Yes, yes, yes somebody out there still looking out for Dominica. $79? LIAT eat your heart out.
Boy imagine the possibilities if Dominica had its international airport.
Our various leaders over the years have let us down…
We should take an initiative here and try and get a daily ferry service going between Roseau (or even Soufriere) and Fort de France that will connect conveniently with the departure & arrival times of Norwegian flights. This pertains to travel between Martinique and N. America. However, with regard to the European market there is an additional great potential by using Air Caraibe & Air France services to/from Paris. For U.K. connections. BA has three daily flights from Paris Orly to London Heathrow There are at least four daily flights between Fort de France and Paris and if we had a dedicated ferry service, with the right timing it would save overnighting in Martinique. This could be a boon to such new developments as Jungle Bay and Tranquility Bay, the Hilton project at Grand Savanne, not to mention already existing establishments. Also, we would not have to be so reliant on LIAT and the facilities in Antigua or Barbados.
what is the contact information for this airline. can the website address be provided
Have you heard of Google??
Great news,Norwegian thanks for saving us from the waste of time airline liat.
Amen! Anything that saves us from Legendary Incompetence And Tardiness is a good thing!
