NYCD Feature: Mad Guards

Prisca Julien

‘Much ado about nothing’ I say

To say to a blind King that there are cracks in his shield.

After all, he is wide open in every other direction either way .

But alas, if his sees and shuts his eyes wide open

And a blind eye he turns to the holes in his armor,

Swinging his sword around the village, knocking off the heads of men and women

Killing of their sense of freedom.

And yet, no one to stop him,

To stop them –

The army and guards.

“Brutality!” I hear a little voice shout

A little old lady whose son fell victim to the sword

Who will guard the guard when he has gone mad?

Who will fight for the rights of the people

When the guard is the one robbing them of security?

Who then will dare to speak when those who are to build become blind and are busy breaking bones?

Who must stand up for the family hurt because they lost a soldier- even with all  the little chinks in his own armor- he was loved.

He was a son, a father and a brother.

Aren’t those the people you were meant to protect?

Who must speak for the old man who didn’t know when to stop speaking?

Still, it wasn’t warranted that he should get such a beating

And who…

Who will uncover the vices that the law has covered?

For they create the law, they uphold the law ,

Uphold with name and words that sound sweet

Yet in action, they have failed the legislation.

The only thing sweet about what some of them do is the way they cash in at the end of the day.

Sweet pay day…

It is true; the good ones among them are way too few.

Paying people to do the things that they ought to protect us from

My friend, my fellowman, t’is a real sad, sad conundrum.

How high can you go when you’ve gotten to the head?

‘There’s nowhere left’ I hear the people cry in outrage

They shouldn’t be free if they’re the ones breaking the law

In fact they should be bound by a metal cage !

And to those beginning to accept it as the norm,

No, I say !

There’s somewhere left

There’s something left that we can do

There’s someone left

There’s you and me

If it is made for us

Let it be used for us

And when it is abused we will shout and cry, we will stomp and fight,

Fight the right way.

We will rally while we sing for peace

Begging for peace and a piece of justice

Just some.

To show good faith,

That not all of the system is corrupt and amiss

And if that fails then we all have failed.

For the sake of saving this State

I hope this can be answered,

Who will guard the guard?

very well written. Since we are all about politics nowadays, read the poem carefully and see how political it is

If you mean political as in reference to the affairs of the country, then OK.

If you mean political as in for or against any particular political party or government, then, not the intention.

why we need to make everything political?
I don’t get that the young lady is speaking for or against any party but instead of some of the injustice that’s been happening within our court system…

If I am to respond in a political sense I doubt anything coming from her would be against……

DNO STOP HIDE MY COMMENTS JUST CAUSE IT NOT ON THE SIDE YOU WOULD PREFER!!!
