Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has skirted around the issue of an alleged impending cabinet reshuffle, saying only that he would advise the country about this if and when such a decision is taken.
“If there is going to be a cabinet reshuffle, when the prime minister in discussion with his colleagues comes to the final list then we shall advise the country”, the prime minister told DBS Radio’s Curtis Mathew.
“I don’t think it requires public debate or public discussion. We are not going to get distracted. We have a lot of work to do. We have done a lot and still have a lot to do…” he said.
Both Dominica News Online and the Sun newspaper reported on April 2nd that a credible source had disclosed that a Cabinet reshuffle is imminent.
“Dr. Kenneth Darroux, a medical doctor is expected to replace Julius Timothy as health minister and there are expected to be changes in community development, foreign affairs, agriculture, Labour and public works, with Charles Savarin expected to go on retirement,” the two media companies quoted the source as saying.
According to the publications, the prime minister was “not happy with how things are going and as he stated at the swearing in ceremony(following the December 18 general election), a reshuffle would come so that should not be a surprise at all.”
It was also disclosed that the reshuffle had been expected to take effect in March but had been “delayed for various reasons.”
Should the Prime Minister reshuffle the cabinet?
- Yes (76%, 512 Votes)

Take what you all get and continue to see misery while they get rich
Change is good in these cases. Shuffling the cabinet creates a better chance to correct past mistakes by the administration. That will also lend support to a re-election bid.
But you not hearing nuh while those land lord in Picard there telling Ross not to build the new 430 room complex those same group of gangsters already cutting deal with Ross for them to build it close to coconut beach and have Ross least it from them,ha you guys thought they were fighting for your future no no for themselves, wake up and I hope the banks who have high stake in this is listening
my bad answer. The government has teach the people to begg and not work,so what you expect to happen to social security ,less people on the working grid now you have to sweeze the rest taking out more on their pay check to help keep social security aflote,Mr PM I know you and your ministers pocket are now very fat,but whatyou guys are doing to the people will crawl up your door steps its just a matter of time
Dominica is in a major distress economic situation and the government know that they just trying to blind fold the peolpe with all sorts of inferstucter that does not put not one dollar in there pocket rather than depht for them and their children, wake up people sustainerble jobs is the anwer
I am not a party supporter. I disagree with you here. The government is doing the right thing by developing the infrastructure. That allows the private sector to include entrepreneurs the opportunities they need to launch their efforts that will improve themselves and by extension, develop and improve the lives of others.
Where have you been living how can lives be improved when the contracts goes to non-D’icans I would suggest that you give it some consideration we Dominicans are a proud people put youself in the shose of those who have to keep going to the red clinic begging do you believe that they wouldnt be working instead
On a completely different note.
Has anyone noticed a white man, using his own vehicle,on a regular basis, starting from Colihaut picking up debris, trash, or rubbish if you prefer on both sides of the road all the way to Portsmouth and bagging it for disposal? Respect to you sir, this is definitely food for thought. You deserve whatever equivalent honour Dominica has to offer for going above and beyond.
The P M did not ‘SKIRT’ anything.D N O DID !By publishing rumors as news.Do not follow those guys on Q95 .Plod your own path with accuracy and truth and good research.

@EMILE Zpatos, All the PM ever does is dance around the real issues that is affecting Dominica. wake up!!!!! (always quick to defend this Man) why that is not sure – God help us
You a full of hot air so what do you think happened?

vex they vex! they will stay outside though! we well inside. Beeeehhhhh! Nous bien bwachay!
Seriously???? such maturity lol when will you guys wake up – this man is distroying the Country and all you guys do is give him praise .. soo confusing
The man is doing a reasonably good job in camparism to the others before him. I just want to encourage the young PM to be of service to the people and he will be ok. The phase ” Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country” goes a long way.

of theives and gangsters on our small island, people disappearing without a trace how can we be happy. people commit crimes go unpunished and then strike again we have lost our security in our own homes, this cannot make us happy am sorry
Chupes!!!!!! that is not news.
yes reshuffle the cabinet ..give skerrit agriculture because at the rate he travels he will make more widespread representation for agriculture which in my opinion is the MOST important ministry in govt..he wouldnt want it cuz the soil or banana stain will dirty and ruin those well expensive suits he makes in the middle east!!!!
Cabinet Reshuffle or not…cant care less..
the citizens of Dominican arent too concerned with issues.
with all the pressing issues on island the citizens cant prove a point..
election comes they will retain the corrupt regime because they arent concerned at all..
infact Dominicans like it so..
I GUESS U ARE THE ONLY INTELLIGENT DOMINICAN?
As far i am concerned, this whole cabinet should be burnt and the ashes sent to hell,it’s too infected to continue in this green beautiful nature land!
My Son, the energy of silence is your internal energy that expands or shrinks depending on what you choose to say – or not say.
Do not let the media sap your energy – for they do not know the complexity of silence!!!
PM, you are wise beyond your age. That is why your prayer army increases in number daily.
Again,
“PM skirts around cabinet reshuffle” REALLY???
HERE IS THE DEFINITION OF “SKIRTS”
Here is what i think might work, “PM avoids the discussion around a cabinet reshuffle” Modern media my people speaks to the simplest man in the simplest terms.
There are many media resources online which can help you with your choice of words and headliners.

Reshuffling will not a difference. Less corruption will.

Pure and typical arrogance. Please remember that this a democratic country. The public has the right to debate public policy. This is the essence of a democratic community. The PM is the one to decide who comprises his cabinet, however the populace should not be “mou mou”.
What utter rubbish and arrongance. If the Cabinet has to rely on you and thise like you to pick a cabinet, we will be forever debatiing who is who on Matt in the Morning and the other Zey Zey shows between you and me padna.
A selection of a cabinet after you voted your representative has nothing to do with democracy.
What warped logic
Labour is in for the Long Haul.”What they say-they say”!!!

Wooooye yooo
You miss out Tim Tim …………….Minister of Finance?? Skero definitely won’t tolerate that!
But..But.. You left out Tim Tim man.
Keep on dreaming and getting wet!
finance minister don;t need a degree in finance? i caN for UNDERSTAND SOME OTHER positions..but not finance
I don’t care, it don’t matter to me!!
It’s not a matter of being negative…. No matter what we say it don’t matter to the government, they do what they want and slowly we are moving to dictatorship so……….. *shrugs shoulders*
mr prime minister if you think that your cabinet needs to be reshuffle then do it,and that will be between you and your ministers, and then the country, you will not be the first nor the last to have a reshuffle cabinet don’t get distracted, you have work to do and to continue.god’s blessing to you and my beloved DOMINICA.
Well your prayers will not be answered because you did not address the maker properly “God”. but I guess like those fake preachers it doesn’t matter to you how deceitful you are.
Was there any reshuffle before by the DLP Govt.? Of course. Who is the present Minister of Tourism? Was he the AG at one time? Has the Tourism Industry improved? Even though one removes a square peg from a round hole, but places that same square peg in a different round hole, the situation would be the same.
Didn’t the medical doctor in Govt. side with a big businessman to build an asphalt plant close to the Layou village and our beautiful Layou river? What about the cancer-causing fumes from the plant and the negative impact on the health of the villagers? To be trained in a field is alright. Hand-in-hand with training comes Competence, attitudes, good governance, truthfulness, honesty.
Those Politicians must desist from getting rich quickly by dubious means, while in public Office, and fight consistently to stamp out corruption. Lespwi mal papai. The judicial system is failing the Dominican people Big time. All is not equal before the Law. There are many examples to show.
Govt. need to stop the sales of our passports to all and sundry as well as put an immediate halt to selling of our diplomatic immunity (diplomatic passports) to foreigners, especially those with reputable dealings. However, it is a far cry in our beautiful country. Will a cabinet reshuffle see more investments in agriculture? Wasn’t the past Minister of Agriculture posted to Trade? What are we trading more than before? What are we producing more than before? Reshuffle or not the policy is one of begging from foreign countries, instead of creating our own wealth with assistance from outside.
i don’t think is he ministers we should blame doh……. i think it is thier permanent secretary that should get the blame
Rasta, why should the PS’s be blamed? are they the ones who formulate policies?
I wish the PM evaluate the senior administrative
staff of each ministry .Then shake up all the ministries. The bottle neck is the civil service that is untouchable.TOUCH THE UNTOUCHABLES!
The cabinet should have monthly meetings with all the permanent secreatries to evaluate action taken by those P.S.What did you do for the month and why? Directives should be
given and feedback should be obtained.
The servile service members should be made more accountable
leave Rayburn Blackmore where he is please. am begging. he doin really well in that area and he will continue to do wellin that area too.
and his consituency suffering??? come on be honest with yourselves DA ppl
Is the door open or closed?
Explain how they suffering plz?
DNO, please add on the option “should the prime minister and his cabinet flee Dominica”.
I will log unto 100 computers and click YES
Like you do now
because you can put food in are pot on fire that does not mean you can cook for Fort Young Hotel guests. so the same goes to being Minster of Health, managing an instituion such as the Health sector is far diffident from writing in are clients/patients medical book. i love country very much.
Why dont you get your sentence structured properly and ensure that your spelling is correct before hitting that send button and make a fool of yourself.
Wen u have android phone that’s what it does.u must have an old fashion cell
To Dominican: What is Julius Timothy doing for the health sector in Dominica? I would really like to know!!
DNO – check this out -If you have a donkey (Boowik) race it doesn’t matter what lane you give donkeys them donkeys must screw up. Some donkeys will not move even after the gun goes off; some donkeys will go in opposite direction; some donkeys will start the race and somewhere along the race they decide that’s it – the grass is greener here. Now there are some donkeys that just bray – hee hor hee hor hee hor ( just talk) and some donkeys just simply go Breeeew – that is those with no motivation not even to eat grass.
In the midst of this chaos there are a few donkey owners that just know that whatever their donkey do they raking in the dough.
Proverbs : 3 2012
DNO if you want a representative opinion go to Igloos blog and you will understand our position on this cabinet reshuffle. You can put lip stick on a pig it remains a pig. What we have is the worse administration ever.
Like the old people say
“ Tiwais Budhere matais Paiye”
“Mem Bet Mem Pwel”
“ se les mem chauxes “
“I don’t think it requires public debate or discussion”
Oh really, sir. Matters of governance dealing with my elected representatives and their contribution as ministers and otherwise is my business? So what I elect tim tim for? U mean he not answerable to me? U mean he just takin my vote and ignorin me? U will not pass back in my community again. That’s for sure. Doh even come here and campaign.
As for u skerrit. De moment u got sworn into office every stroke of ur pen as Prime minister is my damn business.
U settin urself and ur party up for disaster. It now start.
give finance to julius and pm take over agriculture. over the years governments have not placed enough emphasis on agriculture .so take it over and hold it close to your chest like you do with ministry of finance!!!
Whats the big deal.
“If there is going to be a cabinet reshuffle, when the prime minister in discussion with his colleagues comes to the final list then we shall advice the country”,
You gotta love this
Yeah! Yeah! Professor Rankin loves this too. Now the Dear Leader is talking about himself in the third-person. Who sang the song with the chorus pedal back, pedal back, again? I am trying to remember the words.
“I don’t think it requires public debate or public discussion.”
You gotta love this too huh?
Wicked set of Dominicans
It is quite pragmatic to have an actual medical doctor to hold the post of Minister of Health. Tim Tim’s expertise is in economics. That’s his speciality.
Ishmael allow me to engage you on this. I don’t think the job requirement for a minister of government should demand a degree in the respective portfolio. The important requirement is managerial skills and as such I would very much settle for a degree in management as a requirement for the same. A good manager must be able to use the expertise of those who work for him or her to effectively perform. One may not have a degree in management but have learned the skill of effective management. So Kenneth may not necessarily be a successful minister of health just because he is a doctor. After all Ambrose was once minister of agriculture and what happened; Timothy was once minister of finance some would say he failed others will say he did well- one thing for sure he had prior managerial experience. Mamo was a lawyer but a darn good manager- at least she managed her own business for years. Edison James was a very good manager before he became a politician.
What we have in government today is a bunch of misdirected characters who have spent their time in personal enrichment , no time to develop skills that would help them to become better managers of the people affairs. The sad reality is the reshuffling of the cabinet will not yield any positive results – it is just more of the same.
Oh yea! More of the same! Bring it on! More roads! More schools! More Hospitals! More Bridges! More care for the elderly! Etc. & etc. Bring on more of the same by all means. It takes a very astute person/s to achieve so much under such difficult conditions with the sound of Negativity constantly all around you and in these global economically challenging times. Bring on more of the same, please.
There is a huge difference between A good manager and a good leader…2 different things..we need good leaders who also understand the needs.
DNO, you need to include another option in the opinion polls. It should read, “I don’t care one way or the other”. Then I would vote on it.
I would vote on it TOOOOOOO
me to. was looking for i dont care.
skerrit does what skerrit wants to do. none of his colleagues can go against what he says.
Not one of them have enough balls.
Do what you want skerrit until your rope comes to an end.
there are other options but the one that should be in the Poll “Would it make any difference” and I would cast my vote
Was about to say exactly that. Or better yet… “does it really matter?”
negative people like you that normally holds back a country….if u cannot say something good don’t say nothing at all
As I am scrolling down – I am just saying to myself do they have an “I do not care” button?
DNO count my vote under this option – putty and paint might make the devil look like a saint but when the tire hit the road your old jalopy will still give a rough ride.
In other words “tiwais les makak en govelmen”
