United Workers Party Leader Allen M. Chastanet was sworn in as prime minister on Tuesday, June 7, following the party’s victory over the St. Lucia Labour Party in Monday’s General Election.
Present at the ceremony were the governor general, elected parliamentary representatives, senior party officials, critical state officials and a selected
few invited guests.
“We wish to commend all successful candidates who won their bids to provide meaningful representation to all Saint Lucians. The revival and future success of Saint Lucia is heavily dependent on quality representation and good governance, which require all stakeholders working together for the common good,” the UWP said in a statement.
While unable to give a hint about possible cabinet appointments during his address, Prime Minister Chastanet now having been officially sworn in is expected to announce his assigned Cabinet portfolios in due course.
An intelligent businessman who knows tourism well, big things coming for St Lucia! Congratulations!!
His swearing-in was quick. He did not waste time. I suppose, the sooner, the better.
I wish you God’s blessing and good luck in your governance. The same to the successful UWP candidates who will form your Cabinet.
Congrats Mr. Chastanet. The supporters of the United Workers Party in Dominica salutes you.
Sir as a white man you will be respected and loved by fellow Lucians I say this because our black people tear each other down through jealousey and hatred they are happy when you are strugling so I suggest if we want a change in Dominica we have to get a cocausion
Congratulations Mr. Chastanet! God’s blessings upon you, your Cabinet, Dr. Anthony and his team and all St. Lucians.
Now the talk is over and the real work begins for you. Meeting expectations built up; bettering the faults that you critcised; finding the funds to finance the promises etc., etc. You are sure going to need God’s special blessings Sir to do all the miracles and magic. I can understand why you were emotional at your swearing in, according to the media reports.
Good luck to you!
