Ok dress decorum, nice touch with the red gloves as a fashion statement walking the catwalk, however base on the climate after she was seated, Melissa needed to have removed the gloves. They looked ridiculous.

Individuals perform better in the area where they are trained and experienced. Catherine Daniel would be an excellent Minister of Education.

@Barbara. Being a CXC Registrar does not qualify you for the ministry of education. it merely touches the education section ,does she have a degree in Education ? i don’t think so . She was just handing out certificates , registering students etc. not so directly touching education.

Your information is incorrect. She was around even before CXC. CXC registrar was her last role.

She has gladly accepted her role so no need for a debate. I believe she will bloom wherever she’s planted.

Roosevelt Skerrit’s victory is a Pyrrhic one at best. First of all, it was won, not by himself but an outsider, Harley Henry of Barbados, which puts into question the campaign slogan to promote the P.M. “leadership is everything”. Secondly, a considerable number of voters are disenfranchised in their representation in parliament given that the difference in labour voters and those opposing the Skerrit government amounts to less than 15%, not counting the effect of the imported votes, also orchestrated by Hartley Henry. This has weakened the status of Roosevelt Skerrit considerably and I’m afraid his victory may have kindled a slow burning fuse that eventually will blow his tenure apart.
With regard to the nomination of his new cabinet there is a certain amount of confusion and lack of clarity. For instance, there appears to be an overlapping of Colin McIntyre’s responsibilities and those of Roslyn Paul. Is the latter now responsible for the Invest Dominica Authority and has Colin McIntyre been put in charge of the Citizenship by Investment programme, previously under the stewardship of Alvin Bernard? Then there is the curious appointment of Francine Baron as Minister responsible for foreign affairs and Caricom matters. Does this mean that she is no longer our High Commissioner in London? If so, who is her replacement as at the time of writing the Commissions official web site (www.dominicanhighcommission.co.uk) still shows her in that position. This is puzzling, especially given that she arrived on the diplomatic scene in London in that post only just over two years ago.
Why would she forgo the privileges of such and exalted post and upset the routine of her children?
There is a sentiment afoot in Dominica right now that, although results have been declared, this election is far from over.

What we witnessed in the stadium on Saturday was grotesque and surreal. A Jeremiah 5:31 man of the cloth with the incantational voice of a snake charmer, anointing a chosen few with an invisible feng shui amulet to make the gullible believe they are chosen by God and give them protection from their alleged enemies.
It gave me bad shivers as all I could see in this nightmare was the Mark of Cain.

Congratulations to the new DLP Cabinet and I wish every one well in the new term. In terms of Ministries, there are actually 19 if the Minister of Finance and the Attorney General are added to the list. Personally, I think this is a pretty large Cabinet for such a small economy. However, small or large, it’s a new term in office for the DLP, as Dominicans we must all put our political differences aside and work with the Government of the day to ensure their various socio-economic development programmes are implemented for the good of nation building.

it is also important that the Official opposition UWP provide responsible representation that would allow them to be seen as a government in waiting. best wishes to the Opposition in this new term as well.

Ok Dominica does not have a Minister of finance, the PM holds the purse strings, so do not , I say do not expect too much from the poor cabinet Minister, they cannot help any constituency any work done in Dominica is because of the IMF, China and wherever the PM borrows from mortgaging the island of Dominica, it is the work he has been elected to do and gets paid to do, it is not from the goodness of his heart, and it is not a favour, but his responsibility and duty to the people who of Dominica who employ him.
Dominicans stop being manipulated into thinking that you a need to be grateful for people who are on doing their job which they get remunerated for, actually the PM has taken advantage of his position to enrich himself and his cabinet and friends, so Dominicans keep up the pressure and make them work for the money they are being paid. The people are the employers not the other way round. dominica is not a police state,do not allow it to become one, policemen you are there to serve the people, not to intimidate the people . You the police are also paid by the people not by the PM. Dominicans know your rights in your democracy. Dominica is still a democracy, so do not allow anyone to turn it into a dictatorship and a police state. Remember Dominica remain free because our Ancestors fought the Europeans, they fought the massa they fought colonisation, for freedom. Today keep up the fight for democracy. The PM and his cabinet are to be responsible to the people and accountable the role of the opposition is to ensure that the accountability is met. Do not allow modern day religious superstition to enslave your minds. The price is too great.

we say that the caribes are stupid well if you want to see stupid and people who for half a cent would do any thing come to dublanc and bioche they would sell there soul to the devil for a dime

  15. Francisco Telemaque
    December 14, 2014

“This morning I ask what does 17 cabinet positions given an unknown Petro Carib debt means for Dominica. The mere thought the debt is unknown should scare anyone because it is not public. For me anything that is unknown mean there is something to hide.”(The Author Has No Name).

Difficult questions to understand, nevertheless, maybe you should have asked those very questions prior to the election. You see politics is a continuous business, and when people discover, things which cannot be justified they need to rise a debate regarding such matters, in doing so you may have helped to educate those who are mesmerized by a handout from Skerrit, and the labor party, and just maybe; they might begin to see the damage they are causing themselves and the nation by continuing to vote labor every time! People are not educated politically in our country, and that is why they are so easily bought!

For insistent, most Dominicans know that our nation is heavenly indebted to Venezuela, the outstanding debt will never be paid, I believe the government of Dominica is deliberate, in not paying the debt hoping that the debt will be paid via “debt forgiveness”, while government ministers in Dominica, has become multimillions from money they ripped off from Petro Carib.

Under whose ministry is Petro Carib? Keen observation will reveled that the minister under who’s portfolio the entity falls, owns three separate houses, all valued more than a million dollars each, and I am sure we are counting in U.S. currency! If that is correct the man who was a watchman not too long ago owns residential property valued at approximately Eight (EC$8,100,000.00) million, one-hundred thousand dollars, and that is not counting his yacht, and other assets. Could it be that some of the money which should be used to pay Petro Carib is in the pocket of that minister?

Dominicans have blinded themselves to the thievery which takes place under their noses everyday, and has been going on for the past fifteen years. Secondly, Skerrit and the Labor Party, spent more than $60,000,000.00 dollars bribing people, and buying votes: why should one pretend, and not agree that without Petro Carib, Skerrit would not have that kind of money to buy the election!

Our people have no sense at all; as long as they get something for free, as small as they get a drop of water that runs off a ducks back, or that which is equivalent to one drop of water in all of the oceans of the world, they are happy! We the people should not leave everything to be challenge by the opposition, the people must ask questions, and demand answers. That is not happening in our country, our people rather die than demand truth, and honesty from the players in the labor party: A corrupt nation cannot identify thievery, and corruption, for this simple reason: “if my daddy is a thief, and me mama, and siblings are all thieves’s, then Francisco Telemaque must be a damn thief also.” “Birds of a feather flocked together!”

@genie December 13, 2014 “They same way public servants don’t want to be burdened with too many assignments, yall expect one minister to be responsible for 4 ministries…get with the program”

I have been thinking this all along as I read those posts here. It is really true that the people on DNO are simply repeating the first thought that they read from someone else–and that is extremely pathetic.

“Why such a large Cabinet” they are complaining now, and 5 years later they will complain that nothing was done–Dominicans are very lucky to have a leader who works by God’s guidance in his mind; otherwise our lack of knowledge, our stupidity, and most of all our negative and futile mentality would already have us at our final demise–for crying loud!

But for those of us, who are the God fearing people at home, let us continue to maintain trust in God, that He is guiding Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit to continue to make the decision for the sake of Dominica and her people–there is going to be no man that can change those decisions–once they are of God–He who is the “Primary Controller” of the world’s Nations, not just Dominica.

It is more effective if 4 hands are doing 4 assignment that 1 hand trying to fulfill those 4 assignment. Prime Minister Skerrit knows very well what he is doing, and for the purpose of Life all in all–in our Dominica. God’s Will be done!

    • December 14, 2014

And whilst I am at it, those of you here, who are criticizing Mellissa’s dressing–you are making a great fool of yourself to the people of the world–who knows the difference in dressing for the occasion.

The swearing in of the men of Cabinet is a formal occasion–it is not a carnival–and the Prime Minister’s wife is dressed for that occasion, along with her husband and the others.

You people need to stop and allow your minds to absorb the essence of “wisdom” and “understanding”, for you all are showing the world that you posses a mind condition that is extremely carnal–not only fruitless of the things of God in Life, but definitely empty–like a dried shell making way too much noise to the ears of listening people.

That is the reason you all may feel that you are being ignored for according to the Words of the Poet Desiderata, it tells us: “Avoid loud and aggressive people, for they are vexation to the Spirit” O gush man, you people!

You should remain in Canada forever and ever Amen and DNO should find a way to make your comments remain in Canada too…..

      • Francisco Telemaque
        December 15, 2014

If you are suggesting that DNO should block her submissions that would not be fair; if that happens I think it would be undemocratic, as silly as she gets, her opinions should be heard also.

I know she is talking about me when she said some of you who are criticizing Skerrit wife. Formal indeed Elizabeth, but there is a place time and place for everything. Dominica is not the place for that sort of formality. Ours is a very hot climate, as I said between 74 and 80 degrees daily the barometer pressure is always around 20, while the humidity may exceed 80 degrees Fahrenheit, that is not dry heat as we have in America, and Canada, our temperatures keep people sweaty, since: relative humidity = X torr / X torr = X amount in %.

I am not prepared to say anything negative about Savarin, this is not the day I wish to fight him, but I give credit to his wife, her formality is appropriate, she dressed for the occasion.

If memory serve me correctly, I believe she lived in Brussels Belgium years ago, the winters there are very cold, I remember one morning I was standing on a balcony of Ferry in a Port waiting to disembark to get on a train to my destination in Cuxhaven West Germany; it was so cold I was not properly dressed for the cold; standing there I heard crackling noise inside of me my ribs, and my sternum, the bones made a cracking noise. I say all of this to say If Savarin and his wife lived in Belgium, I am sure that lady must have some better outfit (you know costumes) better than what Skerrit wife wore in better style, that she could have worn!

The thing is she knows that she is not in Europe therefore she does not have to make herself a pappy show dressing like a clown prancing in snow!

        Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!

If that woman wore that red and white stupidness to attend a party anywhere in the United States even on a cold winter night, she would have to remove her arm stockings and cape otherwise people would laugh at her. Now in New Jersey she might get away with it if the people she associates with are all Dominicans. In any event I cannot critique what Savarin wife had on, she looked very presentable for the occasion.

Anyway I must plug Savarin also: when that man was in Belgium he was a great down hill skater, that boy Savarin used to fly down hill, and sometimes up hill like a bird, with snow splashing all over the place even (covering him big) pair of goggles on him face eh, man doh can see where him going eh.

I hear him don apply to attend the next winter Olympics in Siberia oui!

It is an allegation, only an allegation. Their appears to be problems in the DLP camp. The lady from the Wesley Constituency was offered a job as a Parliamentary Secretary. I understood the lady blatantly refused the job and made Skeritt know in no uncertain terms that if she was not given a Ministerial position, she will return to Canada in January 2015. Skeritt, for an usual reason appears to want her in Dominica, therefore, efforts are being considered to make some changes. According to a source, Kelver might be the change to accommodate her.

Vote for a representative that is working with your interest at heart and not the leader. The leader has his own constituency to take care of PLUS those of the lazy ministers who are just there riding off people’s vote for fame and free travel.

The bible says ” Be not deceived God is not mocked for whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap” The PM spoilt the hollow victory when he goaded and attempted to mock the opposition with his snide remarks about the State house and Alik Boyd Knight. Sadly these remarks will return to hunt the PM, when his world begin to crash around him.” Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord I will repay”. Chronicles the Lord told Israel, “The battle is not yours it is mine sayeth the Lord of host”
The swearing in was a mockery, because of the PM final words. God cannot be fooled. so sadly the PM has dug his own hole for himself with his mocking of the opposition. Dominicans do not fret yourself, over evil-doers, they have their reward, and the righteous will see it. .

The UWP supporters are so ignorant. During the weeks leading up the elections, I have listened to the ‘leaders of the UWP’ and OMG, pure utter nonsense. For example, a simple thing like a voter needed to be a resident of certain constituency before he or she can be registered to vote in that constituency. The UWP leaders could not even explain to their supports; no wonder their supporters were confused. They have been brainwashed; they remind me of people who are part of a cult.
At the end of the day, UWP will not have access to the Treasury. UWP, if you love Dominica, let the PM and his cabinet continue to do what’s best for YOUR/OUR country. Please, stop being so selfish!

You don’t know? Let me tell you, Mr Stephenson seat, although he won it, is currently in problem and might be challenged by the Opposition, imagine that he would be given a Ministry and would have to go to court for 41/2 years steady, this would frustrate him and thus have a negative impact on his ministry. If he was to loose the court battle, he can still remain parliamentary secretary, whereas if he is a minister, he would have to be removed as a minister, and the only other way he can come into parliament is as an elected member or senator. So he being a minister and loosing the seat on a courts decision would be more detrimental to him as a minister than a Parliamentary Secretary. This is my own analysis of the decision of the PM to leave him without a ministry.

Seriously, Drigo as Minister of Agriculture? I don’t think Drigo can plant a flower. He has no idea what the word agriculture means. He was unable to talk on his behalf during the political campaign he needed Mr. Austrie and Lauren Bannis to talk for him, and like in the other constituencies money talk as well as imported voters like crazy. Someone tell me, how the hell is Drigo going to run a ministry of agriculture? Farmers, you are now six feet under. Farmers, I guess you all will be walking up the steps of ministry to the red clinic for your hand-outs too. I feel sorry for all of you. Didn’t Skerritt say to Drigo once sit down and shut your damn mouth? and he never opened his mouth again. How the hell is he going to get anything done when he can’t open his mouth on farmers behalf? Skerritt only wants people he can push around. Tongue and Blanchard ministers. Is he thinking about using them as candidates for the Roseau Central and Roseau North constituencies next time around? This is madness in DA.

Why are people surprised at the composition of this DLP Cabinet; it’s business as usual;JOBS for the BOYZ, and the list of advisers has not even been posted yet. What a joke but at least it’s good news for the public servants and the rest of Dominica, you can now make any demand that you wish on Roosevelt skerrit and his bunch of IMMORAL rogues. Since there is so much money to pay such lavish salaries from the PUBLIC purse (and not a gift from any friendly Government); then anything that you demand is reasonable under the present circumstances. mr Min. of Justice, immigration and national security welcome back there is some unfinished business with the CDPF and since the funds have been lying in the treasury for the at 5 years (i hope with interest) the hard working men of the SSU and Immigration are eagerly awaiting the new and modern facilities that you promised them last time around, especially the SSU; so whenever the next storm strikes Dominica the PM won’t have them to languish outside his home while his dog was invited to come inside and shelter the storm. Make that a priority i beg you sir. Dominica a lot has been promised and a lot will be delivered but alas only DLP will continue to enjoy it. Are they not Dominicans, in fact the original Dominicans?

  49. December 14, 2014

This morning I ask what does 17 cabinet positions given an unknown Petro Caribe debt mean for Dominica. The mere thought the debt is unknown should scare anyone because it is not public. For me anything that is unknown mean there is something to hide.

Why such a large cabinet? Oh, an then it dawned on me an AG has not been included and the remaining two senators. Why do we need such a large government? Who are the two ministers appointed as senators? Do they really need the money or positions? It is said money attracts money especially when I look at the majority of young unemployed people who were given token NEP jobs without any guarantee of payment from month to month. What will become of these young people, now that their usefulness has provided the Labour Party the mandate to govern our country? Do they even understand what is going on? The worse use of a human being and disposing of them is when it is done right before their eyes with things that lure them into the trap, things like (alcohol, foreign bands, and a few dollars). They are back to the reality of daily living with the hope of a job after cursing so many people declaring who they support, this is compounded with the shame and fear of ridicule by opponents should they speaking up about promised of jobs.

Well, the jobs and the many other promises will be slow in coming if at all they come, because the world is changing around us as we speak. Venezuela is now facing sanctions from the United States. Note, the Russian economy is spiraling out of control with Russian banks unable to service debts to US banks, their currency is in constant decline, inflation (price to purchase goods and services increasing) which is predicted to cause a recession in 2015. Oh, and the cost of oil and gas decreasing on the world market all that without a bullet or bomb fired by the US on Russian soil. Venezuela is in need of much needed cash to keep their economy afloat and recent loans taken in the billions lost over a quarter of it’s value. Presently, Venezuela is packaging Petro Caribe oil debt that countries like Jamaica and a few other Latin American countries and selling them at less than market value in desperation to earn money to try to sustain their economy. Therefore, given the spending rate before the US sanctions and they are selling Petro Caribe debt to Goldman Sachs, one would be naïve to think Dominica Petro Caribe debt will not be next to be sold. Now, how does Goldman Sachs pursue obtaining their debt is definitely not like Venezuela, in fact it will be public to some extent as the rating companies will get involve to downgrade the currency of Dominica and the other countries. I fear this is made more difficult for Dominica because we are not exporting a lot of good and services to service our basic debts, let alone Petro Caribe. It is against this background I see this large cabinet as being unnecessary. I mean let us look at the other Caribbean islands and their economic drivers in respect to Dominica’s and it’s nothing to feel encouraged about. There are people on island who knows what is about to come and are probably positioning themselves for the economic impact as opposed to the layperson who will deny this will happen even you show him through the future. May God be with us as a people we cannot continue in this manner and hope for the best, we have to participate in being the best.

Hill every Dominican with the name Blanchard, unless they inherited the name via marriage, they are all related, you can also find many of them on the island of Antigua. They got there via the island of Montserrat.

One of then way back in the late 1930 when Dominica was in the Leeward group of islands, one of the Blanchard’s went there as a civil servant, serving in the capacity of a judge, magistrate, or perhaps a police officer. I am not sure.

Nevertheless, I personally know one who was born in Montserrat, moved to Antigua, where he was an official employed at the now defunct Antigua Sugar Factory, when the sugar industry collapsed he went to work with Texaco Oil Company, were he was employed as Superintendent of the bulk facility at Coolidge Antigua.

I know them very well, Michael Blanchard and I are very good friends. His uncle who was a judge on the island of Antigua, Dominican born and I were also very good friends, I have not seen nor heard from him in a long time, he was an old man the last time I saw him; could be probable dead by now.

However, no matter how hard I try not to comment on the crap the government, as a matter fact Skerrit say, I always get the erg to say something.

As I before Skerrit is an incorrigible idiot, and the people, people who supports him and the labor party are incorrigibles, hence Dominica has become an incorrigible place, the island is dead, and will never be resurrected as long as Skerrit is king, lord, dictator, and god over the country.

Too many cooks spoil the broth. The population of the U.K., 63.743 million, is nearly 911 times that of Dominica. If they were to have the same ratio of parl reps as we have that would amount to 191,228! To put it another way, each parl rep in the U.K. has on average 98,000 constituents, more than the entire population of Dominica where each parl rep is responsible on average for only 3,335! To say that we are gonflay is to put it mildly. No wonder we are broke and inefficient. We are suffering from a severe case of hydrocephalus.

Parry, should also remind the Prime Minister that the wage bill will be increased by 6% over the next three years. Parry should also express his concern in terms of the reappointment of Alixs Boyd Knight as speaker of the house. December 13, 2014

Some shall eat all. Skerritt just won’t get it. He refuses to listen to the logic of the times. How on earth could the Public Servants accept any less than 15-20% increase for the 3 Years in question on their salaries?

Would the Police who, in rain, sun, thunder, lightening, hurricane, day or/and night, protect the country and its citizens, accept any less too than 15-20% and see just-comes getting 4,5,6 times their meagre salary and not because they will work harder? Whose lives are always at risk, when on patrols to prevent drug trafficking and other crimes? It’s time for some respect.

In our faces, Skerritt again , imposing 17 Ministers in a bloated Gov’t, on the backs of Dominicans, inflating Public expenditure. Only 72,000, people, oui? And just check the incompetencies and incapabilities among. A Cabinet full of Fouchet. Really not one that could move the Nature Isle, with all its beauty and resources, to face the numerous challenges ahead. They feel certain that the new colonial type of governance is the way forward. It will not work Time will Tell.

Meanwhile. the struggle for Electoral Reforms continues as a necessary step towards FREE and FAIR elections any time in the future. Skerritt and his DLP Gov’t will not implement. Forget it, skerritt putting Campaign finance Laws in place, to monitor who gives moiney for election or otherwise? Awa. The people have to be vigilante. never get tired to struggle for the GOOD, for the RIGHT.

All foreign observers have concluded, again and again, that the voters’ list is “dirty”, bloated Voters’ List. campaign finance should regulated through Laws. Voter ID Cards. Access to state-owned media and adherrence to electoral Laws, against bribery. None of the above were put in place.

Do not expect any of the recommendations to be carried out. Doing so would interfere with SKERRITT’s WINNING LEGACY. REMEMBER ??????? . The people must demand that it happens or else Skerritt will never lose an election. Dominicans will stand up. Injustice trembles when a people speak.

A positive solution is to conduct a complete Re-registration, thereby ensuring only legible electors are on that List and so they would be issued Voter ID Cards. Plain to see. A sister OECS Island, Antigua and Barbuda, with a bigger population did just that recently.

What is our problem Dominicans? In spite of everything, Skeriit and his DLP owe Dominicans the committment to allow the Electoral Commission to function independently and to do what is right re. electoral reforms. The sooner the better for everybody’s good.

I shed tears for the people of my country, I shed tears for the future generations, I shed tears for the poor, I shed tears for those who are small minded, I shed tears for this nature isle, just incase y’all didnt know, now, there is NO hope for agriculture, not with this man, since he left school he has been in a bar working in castle bruce, that bar has been shut down because they catch his father ‘peepeeing’ in the sink, lol im sorry but Mr. Skerrit does not show any signs of wanting good for dominicans. But i will continue to pray for my people, i will continue to pray for change, i just wish we could stand united and protest like the americans. I am Dominica, pray for my country, pray for your country, pray for our country!

The PM didn’t say he would reduce. In fact when Linton came out to say he would reduce to save the country none . Skerrit came out to say it was rubbish and explained why it wouldn’t benefit the country. If your point was to say that he lying already and breaking promises just search the articles on DNO you may find the one when he saying that the cutting back on minsters is nonsense talk. get yo facts straight before you talk !

Someone is asking for the justification of seventeen Minister. Simple, as far as Skeritt is concerned, who is Linton to tell him how many Ministers he should have in his cabinet. Don’t forget, it was Mr. Linton, during the campaign who criticized him for the watermelon size cabinet. Madame Speaker has returned, again, as far as Skeritt is concerned , who is Mr. Linton to tell him who should be the speaker of the house. Recently, Mr. Linton told Dominicans that he is opposed to Aliks Knight as speaker of the house. It would appear that Skeritt wants to send an early strong message to Mr. Linton. This man from the village of Marigot is different to anything political, Skeritt or the DLP has experienced. I don’t believe Skeritt possesses sufficient ammunition to stabilize this gentleman. It is going to be a long rocky political road.

It is time that Lennox understands that he is the opposition leader. Contrary to the twisted belief of the UWP supporters the leader of the opposition has no power, he cannot dictate to Skeritt nor can he dictate what the parliamentary agenda should be, of that he is well aware, but he continues to feed his supporters the idea that he can demand and the govt has to comply to his demands, that will never happen. The Government will just ignore the arrogant outburst of this man from the village of Marigot and continue with their agenda.

What is your point as stated above? You sound as if it was okay for people to ridicule Jesus, much more so for the ridicule of the Mr. Skerrit and his wife–well you are in for a tragic surprise.

Just as God was unhappy with people, about their ridicule of His Person in Love, Jesus the Son, it is the same way that He is unhappy about the ugly and rude ways that we approach those whom He has appointed to serve Him in this world–Our Prime Minister–Mr. Roosevelt Skerrit is one of theose servants. Hence people like you will answer to Him at His appointed time, when He will call you to judgment –believe it or not!

      December 13, 2014

Well, what do you expect from the wife of a dictator, soon you will see Skerrit himself wearing a sash as all dictators do. The funny thing dressing up in such does suit Dominica climate: In America, not even in winter one would find people going to a party in winter dressed like that.

In any event Skerrit was made a Knight of nothing recently, with his vampire sash around his neck, so perhaps they now feel they are royalty, and are imitating the British, trying to dress like Elizabeth, the difference is so vast: I have never seen Elizabeth dressed like a clown in any costume any way this is Dominica where most nonsense is always a first!

We experience temperatures between 70, and 95 degrees throughout the Caribbean daily, dressing like only serve there of causing one to sweet. The last time I wore a suit to attend a funeral in Dominica, in the church, I had to hurriedly take my coat and my winter socks off my feet, because I was burning up; so I do not know what is going on here.

      Hahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahaha!

We are in the dead of winter, I went out this morning where the temperature was 78 degrees, I did not have to ware a trente coat, jacket or any kind of coat, I sported a light short sleeve green and white polo shirt, and white denim trousers, white sneakers, and one of my convertible to the mall.

Temperatures in Dominica remains at approximately 74 degrees year round, (so I doh know why) they dress for winter on an tropical island; we call that “pappy show.”

Well well well Dr Martin Christmas didn’t even get a bench to sit on in Parliament Marigot people hmm brace ourselves cause we not getting nothing nothing done in Marigot we have no one in the house to represent us. I had so much confident that the prime Minister would made you a senator but I was wrong. Where then do you stand under this administrative I’m disappointed I still have hope that the new minister if health makes Marigot hospital his top priority when he’s in office

Don’t worry Lennox will take of ally. That is why u all voted him just ensure he goes to parliament and do what he does best oppose.

U really expected the man to give Dr. Christmas a position?

Had you all voted for him he would be able to represent. Instead you voted for a looser on the opposite side..m

        December 13, 2014

I am sure when Lennox brings forth his plans for Marigot develoment to the parliament they will be ignored, and, all like you will say he is not doing anything for Marigot. It was the Prime Minister who said he did not give the people of Marigot a Fisheman or a Farmer but a doctor, and promised his supporters he would give the Mr. Chrismtmas a Ministerial Post. Liar, Liar, Liar

      December 13, 2014

@ concerned Marigotian, You all have Lennox to represent you all in parliament because its him you all voted. Don’t worry though. The hospital is a necessity so yeah, the Minister of Health will ensure that it is built. Those who want a representative vote one in. You all were presented with an educated, intelligent, caring and charismatic man who knows the entire village and its people and you all choose a zoo man over him. You all used to say Kalinagos foolish but at least we voted our parl rep into parliament. Your parl rep is representing you know. He was in Roseau leading the demonstration. Best representation ever!

Kalinago no wonder they will continue to take our people for granted. Our kalinago people grow deeper into o poverty…and we want to talk about Marigot people.

      December 14, 2014

Are you for real? No minister has any authority to do anything, when Skerries talks about them working what he is referring to is them promoting him in their constituencies.

why cry now, jean marigot was promise a sure ministry for Dr.Chirstmas if he wins, now u all cryin, go dry ur tears

    • December 15, 2014

Stop kidding yourself and I hope that no other Marigot person believed what PM had to say while speaking in Marigot , all he was doing is using Christmas to be able to stop Linton but he underestimated the power of the Marigot people . So for the DLP supporters I feel for you because he lied to you openly so stop being so hypocrite you all never wanted any sort of change instead you rather go on receiving hand outs so stop pretending . Election came and gone now is time to come together as one large community ready to work harder to bring around the Marigot it can be and be proud of and stop all the nonsense . I hope that Linton, Christmas, ,James , Baptiste can all work together to make the village a better place to live.
And one of the changes we need is to get a Minister for the Methodist Church , roads, community center, hospital just a few.

Thought the prime minister said during the campaign the country cudnt afford the proposals of Lennox to give the 5% back to public servants but I see it can afford to pay an increase of ministers from 16 to 17… Means the country have to find another 9000 every month…well labour KA really trawvie papa..let me see how long it will take for us to go under austerity measures again…for this Christmas Cassius will be cashing in his $9000 cheque and the Carib ppl lets just say I hope they can digest the plywood and galvanize the sold themselves for….congratulations to the ministers who will be getting richer over the next 5years…let’s hope mrs Melissa skerrit will continue her charitable work of going into the ghettos this Christmas and giving to the less fortunate children…

Moved from 15 ( without Attorney General ) to 17 or from 16 (including Attorney) to 18. One would have thought that the PM would want to downsize in these hard economic times, but guess not. After all, he actually added 2 new ministers on the back of the taxpayers.

You all don’t know how to dress yet you all just sit and criticize. These are not winter gloves my dear. These are dressing gloves/official gloves and yeah, she wore them in a classy manner and they were appropriate for the occasion. When Caribbean brides wear arms length gloves to their weddings and children do the same for first communions, confirmation and quincineras (the latter among the Spanish population), does that mean that winter is in season? Does that mean the hot sun suddenly froze over? You people think before you write because the world is watching and reading about your ignorance!!!
