Cabinet meets with stakeholder ahead of budget presentation

PM Skerrit with members of the police force

Ahead of the presentation of each annual National Budget of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and members of his Cabinet hold talks with stakeholders of the economy to discuss recommendations for inclusion in the National Budget.

The presentation of the 2017-2018 National Budget is quickly approaching and Prime Minister Skerrit has already met with the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC), the Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association (DHTA).

Today, Prime Minister Skerrit and members of his Cabinet met with the Public Service Union (PSU), the Dominica Association of Teachers (DAT), the Police Welfare Association (PWA), the Waterfront and Allied Workers Union (WAWU), the Dominica Manufacturers Association (DMA), and the Builders and Contractors Association of Dominica (BCAD).

The last National Budget was presented on July 26, 2016.

I hope the GOVT makes public the recommendations of the Stakeholders and which ones the GOVT will take on board..

This will allow us to understanding the thought process of the stakeholders as a positive or negative advocate for advancement in Dominica.

What a farce, what a calamity, what a stage show, who on earth this inept Skerrit (Must Go) thinks he fooling. Apart for fake Doctoring, he is good at staging a false show and is in denial of the real issues affecting Dominica. The first obstacle is Skerrit himself Who we Dominicans say Skerrit Must Go. This is fake and failed M and Labour Government that is a fake and corrupt. There is no development taking lace in Dominica.

True leadership by the DLP government. Everyone has a part to play in nation building. By including the private sector, civil society and the unions, we will build together.

Really? I thought he said that the budget is going to be one that everyone is going to be happy with? I took that to mean it is already written! So why now the consultation?

Has he met with the opposition UWP party?

If not, is he intending to do so or is it a prerequisite in the Constitution, during per-budget planning process?

It appears to me that with the extraordinary amount of indiscriminate supplementary spending during the financial year that the budget presentation has become a mere ceremonial exercise in window dressing and virtually meaningless. How, can a country run a properly planned economy like this?

He refuses to accept the constitutioon and that the opposition and Cabinet is what makes up Government. Presently Dominia is a lawless country, sorry to have to remind you. Cabinet is illegal and I challenge any Judge on that..Just check the background of the one who swore them in. He too is illegal. So too is the Highest position in the law keeping Organization
And our Press media is not free. We are being thrown out of our island in a very sophisticated plan. Some of us have been pushed out already. Does who have eyes to read, let the, read. The Lord is my Shepherd and Inshall not want. All glory and praise to the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

so what? He met with stakeholders. This is not the first time. What should be reported on is how much of their proposals will find itself in the 2018 – 2018 budget.
    HOTEP!

This is commendable and so it is also important for Skerritt to consult with stakeholders, the public and opposition parties before trying to go to parliament and quickly try to sneak legislation to legalize the stealing of elections which the Commonwealth observer mission said was not fair.Since Skerritt knows the right thing to do why doesn’t he do it.

    • June 29, 2017

Yes Skerritt have to come down from his high horse and learn to deal with different agencies and other groups and departments and Opposition parties about putting a budget together before going into the parliament to implement or to push his brand of budgeting on the people, after all people who don’t have jobs to pay for anything. Skerritt you should not be taking the people of Dominica as fools that word have been over used by you and your supporters.

        Sorry mr, Jojo,
SKERRIT is innocent in this, it’s the people of D/ca who is taking themselves for a Papi show by voting this SCOUNDREL in office time and time again, we will all suffer for that when the time comes
