The party’s leader addressed members of the National Council on Thursday

Political Leader of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP), Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said he is “excited” that there is a renewed sense of commitment from the rank and file of the party he leads.

Skerrit was speaking to state-owned DBS radio following a National Council meeting of the DLP on Thursday at the Goodwill Parish Hall.

“I have left this meeting with comfort that the party is resolute in its unity, resolute in its purpose, resolute in its dedication…” he said. “This evening we raised close to $4,000 by people making voluntary contributions so it speaks to the commitment of the people, the renewed sense of commitment from the rank and file of the party and I am very excited about that.”

The Prime Minister also described the meeting as being “very, very, successful” with high energy, determination and focus.

“So as the leader of the party, I feel fortified that the party continues to be behind us, the party continues to be united in its efforts and its determination and it speaks well not only for the party, but for the country,” he stated, while stressing the importance of unity.

“The leadership cannot be far behind the rank and file of the party. So the base of the party is certainly very focused, very determined to do what we have to do for the welfare and the wellbeing for the people of Dominica,” he stated.

The DLP’s leader mentioned that there are important decisions on the present and future state of the party as well as actions and strategies that must be put in place to ensure continued success, not only as a party, but for the whole country.

The DLP’s National Council is the highest decision making body of the party and is convened every year to ratify the date for the its delegate’s conference, receive and adopt resolutions concerning development of the party, and to adopt the report of the central executive on the functions of the party over the past 12 months.

To “Joe ” and “Kid on de Block” After the elections I thought that Dominicans began putting “real sense in their heads.” Where on Gods earth can man who claimed to be doing so well would spend $32 million dollars just to win an election? Where on God’s earth would a man who claim to be building a modest three bedroom house worth $400,000 now cost in excess of $2,000,000 dollars? Where on Gods earth would a man who claims to be a good negotiator allow ONLY Chinesse nationals to work on all our capital projects from loans and grants from China? Where on Gods earth would a man win a passport scandal case but refuses to present his passport to the nation? Could’nt he have done like Obama present a copy for the nation to see? Where on Gods earth would a man allow the property of his wife to rented to the state? Is that insider trading?
    Should I continue?????
Dominicans wake up and wise up!!!!!

Skeritt is telling Dominicans of his excitement, because his DLP is resolute in its unity and that speaks well for the country. I hope he is not of the belief that Dominica is a united country. As far as I am concerned, he, as leader, is the main architect as regards the disunity in the country. This disunity is as a result of his dislike for one man, Lennox Linton of Marigot. Look at the crab back incident, had this incident not involved Mr. Linton, the Jones boy would be back at his job, like he, Skeritt, did for Ossie concerning the DBS incident. Presently, we have the case of Lindo Park, the constituency of Goodwill is in dander of loosing grant funds for the upgrading the Park, again, because Daniel Lugay who is a member of the committee for the upgrading of the Park is a friend and member of a political party to which Lennox Linton is leader. Therefore, can someone tell me where is the unity in the country is going to come from.

“Roosevelt Skerrit said he is “excited” that there is a renewed sense of commitment from the rank and file of the party he leads.”

Yes, so that is the reason why you have your puppets, talking about people must pay up hospital bills, and that talking about new hospital for Marigot is still on some card, far from the conduit, if it is not yet in the pipeline it is simply wishful thinking!

What about the PM hospital, if you cannot build one how are you going to build two? Your puppets are committed alright; however, not to the people and country; They are committed to be loyal to you that little dictator, and little god man.

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!

Ah mash you up today oui!

With all those Passport sellers;Haitian visa peddlers; building material merchants (true loads of vote buying building material); boat licensing; immigration bureau chief directors;offshore bank facilitators; construction company board directors etc they only raise $4000. Ebeh had it not been for $32 million from friends I would not have been able to go to Breese Harmond,Donny Mckurklin and Destra.

I do not know; maybe I mad, crazy, gone locoko; last year even days before the election you all say de man days was numbered eh. by election day you all could not let his reign end, you gave him five more years, of authority and power to rule over you all.

      For what?

Nothing more than a plate of food, and he did not even set it on a table, for a feast, he throw it on the ground where all who voted for him crawl on their belly, and lap it up like a ( I doh want to what)! But think about what laps when they eat!

Five years from now Skerrit will play the same tricks on you all, and get another five which appoint him slave master, and god over even the yet to be born in Dominica!

    • May 8, 2015

Bob,Dominicans have been hearing that for years, you sound like a broken record.

      • May 10, 2015

        @point May 8, 2015

You do have a point and the reason for that continuous repetition in people. is because they do not have a mind production–they are simply repeating what they heard from someone–even moons ago–just like this Bob fellow above.

The other thing is that there is a few negative, mad, crazy, or carnally minded people here; instead of searching for personal healing, they come here and speak the malady or futility of there mind.

Unfortunately this does nothing for our young people, who would like to know the truth–with all of this negativity and futility being passed on to them, what else can they do but remain in a confused state? If only those mentally ill persons would stay in the place where they belong–good Lord! Show us Your mercy!

First time i hear de words National Council associated with de DLP.
IS THIS A NEW THING? Wow..
    Is this its first meeting?
As a former DLP enthusiast i never knew DLP had a National Council…..who’s on that council anyway.
Is this council within or outside of de DLP executive.
    What’s it mandate…what’s the significance?
” adopt the report of the central executive…”
It appears that this. council works under the central executive.
At the same time it’s the highest decision making body in the party….
    You’re a real brainwasher.
More than half de DLP followers understand how their party operates.
You use that same attitude with the Nation’s business
Thank god for Lennox Linton and his party
You trying hard to solidify your position outside of the electorate
Try harder…..i see your destructive selfish motives…..try harder

Good observation, alas. Along the lines of the communist regimes – Russia, China, Cuba, Venezuela, etc. Would love to hear what the DLP Executive thinks about this NEW Council…., if indeed, they are aware of it.

So now that you have been at the helm since 2004 and by the time of the next election, you will have been prime minister for about 15 years, have you thought of stepping down from that position? Or are you (personally) looking to stay in office for as long as you can? In other words, are you a career politician?

ZANDOLI too much of a nice name for you. Maybe you should change your name to ABORLAW…What does the DLP business has to do with you? Don;t you realize is because he is a good man and can be trusted he is at the helm? and remain till we decide to change him.

      • May 9, 2015

        @Kid On The Block May 8, 2015

        I share your sentiment!

Prime Minster Roosevelt Skerrit, as Leader of DLP, he knows who is the “Force” behind his work; he is humble, trustful and obedience to his guidance, that “Force” –that is the reason he will continue to stand tall, among his God fearing people in Dominica–the words of mad, crazy, evil, and wicked, people cannot stand against him

It will by his own resignation through God’s command that his role as Prime Minister, of our country, will come to an end As it is written so it will be done!

This government has every right to be fear of not being on questioned. every rope has an end…you ll be found out

But Zandoli, what else would the man do? Go back teaching for a pittance? More to the point, what could he do? Can he fix your roof, service your car, install electricity look after your health, weed your garden? Keep your books (…more like cook your books!). Seriously, what else can he do? The man is unemployable except as a politician.
