Isaac Baptiste has big plans for Castle Bruce Constituency

United Workers Party (UWP) hopeful for the Castle Bruce Constituency, Isaac Baptiste says if elected as MP, he aims to rekindle agriculture, diversify the essential oils industry and improve the constituency’s infrastructure in the construction of much needed resource centers, among others.

Speaking at a UWP’s “Farmer and Fishermen’s Rally” in Castle Bruce on Sunday, Baptiste laid out his plans to party supporters.

“In the area of Agriculture we will bring idle lands at Castle Bruce estate under productive use, rehabilitate farm access roads to encourage cash crops and small livestock production in the interest of food security and good nutrition,” he said. “Provide material assistance to farmers who wish to return to commercial farming and rehabilitate their tree crops, diversify the all-important essential oils industry, reconstruct the agricultural produce buying depot, modernize the fishing fleet and guarantee the purchase of all commercial fees charged at the Bay in San Sauveur.”

According to him, he also plans on completing the Petite Soufriere-Rosalie link road, construct a housing scheme for Good Hope, build a Farmers Museum at the Castle Bruce Estate and develop the tourism sector in that constituency.

“In the area of community development, we will construct a constituency community market, provide every hamlet with a suitable playing field, provide residents of Dipax and Tranto with a much needed community resource center, provide public conveniences at the center of activities in every hamlet and village,” he said. “We will develop the Castle Bruce playing field into a multi-sports complex capable of hosting sub regional games and reconstruct the castle Bruce reunion hall into a multi-use facility.”

Meantime, UWP Political Leader Lennox Linton reiterated that the UWP intends to grow the country’s economy by 5-7 percent.

“We said that your monetary council has explained to you that you cannot grow the economy of Dominica by less than 3 percent if you want to create jobs and you want to have the kind of economic impact that will move Dominica to a better place,” he said. “But we said we are going to set ourselves a higher target than what the monetary council thinks because they are not responsible for Dominica we are in.”

Linton said the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) ridiculed their plan of doing that yet, “they are now putting in their manifesto that they will grow the economy of Dominica by 5-7 percent.”

“They fought with the idea that Dominica could grow by 5-7 percent,” he said. “They said it was a pie in the sky.”

Linton noted that the country has nurtured its own talents, skills and competencies and because of this “we are capable of thinking for our Dominica and our Dominica needs to grow by 5-7 percent.”

“We have put the plan in place to do that. They said it was not possible. We told them we needed to do that so we could create 5,000 new jobs in the first three years of our administration,” Linton stated.

He is also pledging to those employed under the National Employment Program (NEP) that their jobs will be a permanent one under a UWP administration.

“That is our pledge,” Linton said.

Astaphans is not running any country. This is a democratic country. Mr. Astaphans has a democratic right just as u. He is a Dominican as u are. I say 21 seats for the DLP come December 8th, 201`4. Viva Viva Skerritt and the DLP. Five more years. UWP and their leader will never and will never enter that Sky Scraper Financial Centre, where they are wishing to enter but No WAY HOSEA! Now the time is approaching UWP supporters are very frenzy..

This man is a very powerful speaker who has impressed me a lot from his inception into Team Dominica. He is by far the better of the two vying for the position of Parl Rep in the Castlebruce constituency. HOW LONG? NOT LONG!

Please come again with the truth Mr. Baptiste is a rather very quite and polite man, we are voting him for sure and the saw for sure, change for sure in the castle bruce constituency. High or low Linton for PM.

One word MANIFESTO! If you cannot deliver a manifesto two weeks before an election on the date that you said you would… what can you possibly deliver after the election? seriously! I know there are some team foux people that just cannot see the light but at least at this point the flashlight must be flashing in your eyes… save your constituency and vote for a winning party, that actually means what it says and says what it means, don’t let your personal problems bring you and your fellow constituency down. you want a parl rep that is part of a winning party.
You can talk the talk… but you must also walk the walk!

have you visited there? well even if you did you are a liar right from the pit of hell. mr. baptiste does not run the reception of guests matter of fact he has people whom he employs and i must inform you his employees are from all political backgrounds and he is not known to interfere with his staff political opinions. and incidentally it takes a much more qualified clown to recognize one so quickly. congratulations you have just won the clown of the day award.

Your view as to what describes a dereliction of duty as responsible citizens is all based on a perception supported by partisan political beliefs feed to you. When people consider themselves Patriots they are the ones who shout the loudest without knowing what they shouting about.

It is sad to say, because we don’t believe in you and your political ideology, we are being labeled as every thing possible, the people at the rally were real, they were not as you indicated. You were at your rally and we did not criticize you, right. Mr. Baptiste the roads that you are going to pave with gold and the stairway lined with orchards and roses is inevitable.
Sir, on your overseas trip you gave us slides of the storm that ravaged Dominica last December. You showed us the garbage and debris that was washed in the streets, you showed us the washout roads, saying that is what DA, look like, and YES, you emphatically stated that Dominican young women were prostituting themselves, because of the Skeritte Government. Yes, Sir you said that! Those who have a hard time understanding, His exact words because of the DLP young Dominican women have to prostitute themselves. Sir remember, I disrupted you when YOU uttered these words, they came out your mouth. Don;t deny it I will make it public. Don’t kill the messenger. PLEASE RESPECT US FIRST.

Maybe when you people go abroad you forget how Dominica really rolls these days.

You see, most unemployed are young fellas. Unless bossman have some Elton John in them, they have nothing they want.

On the other hand the young women, it is they who are front and center at red clinic, it is they who fill all the govt jobs offered up by ministers.

It is they who fill labour party crowds.

We use the word BOM. They are making BOM. Everyone in Dominica knows it. And no young woman is going to get anywhere in the govt system without making BOM. When Tim try to bachay the woman he thought she knew what she was coming to his home for.

Maybe you missed the 60 something old fella at our college having a 17 year old college gf. And the head of the Board, defending him.

The same man who recently said there would be no political debate on the college campus. Its all connected. You keep me in a role where I would likely be dismissed and on a sex offenders list elsewhere, and I will keep students from using their brains with regards to politics.

And Labourites LOVE to make bom. What do you think the red clinic is ? You see them people see flesh as a useful commodity to sell for top up, rent, new phone, hairdo etcetc.

That mentality can only change when you have a govt that insists people work on merit and stop treating people based on whether they want to voops dem.

In the real world, this wouldnt even be a contest. Baptiste is a professional who is respected way way more than Drigo is.

But this is a cartoon BOM world.

This is a world where Drigo like many others sells himself on the basis that if you vote for him, you get to keep Skerrit and you get to have red clinic and more chance to make a BOM.

It is no wonder there are so many disgruntled young men joining workers and so many women up front close to the stage in those Layba rallies, hoping a minister pass their eye on them to advance them up the BOM list.

Noke you nailed it down with a sledge hammer. Tell them Castle Bruce LAborites to cmpare Castle Bruce with all the other villages in Dominica. We are very very far behind. People from other villages use to look at Castle Bruce as a town in the country because we were so advance but now look at us we have nothing to show, nothing. We always choose the worse of the 2 candidates to represent us then we cry during the 5 years and then at the end of it we vote another comess all over again.

      November 25, 2014

Respect what is your point really. weren’t the roads washed away? doesnt the DSWC take weeks before garbage collection? and guess what 18 DLP parliamentarians took Mr. Linton to court for accuse them of soliciting sexual favours from young ladies in exchange for favours such as scholarships etc. So tell me most informed one if the young girs were called prostitutes why did these officials take mr. linton to court? pretending that the sun is not shining does not mean that it is not. And the sad thing about you people is that you all know deep down in you all’s guts that our young women are being violated but then again party before integrity, honesty and morality. So you see whether you corner mr. baptiste anywhere on the street the truth about what you heard him present over seas will still be the truth. And that mr. respect is truth to you it does not change

This election comes down to this: Both UWP and DLP agree Dominica is in a mess. However, Skerrit, Drigo and the DLP are promising a pair of crutches as the long term solution while Mr. Isaac Baptist and UWP are promising a perfect pair of legs. Which one do you want? With crutches your problem will never stop and you will have to depend on them the rest of your life. By the way DLP only remembers your crippled condition three months before an election. Similarly, when you have your legs you go where you want, when you want and how you want. It’s time to reject the crutches of Skerrit and Drigo and vote for the independence that ONLY UWP can offer.

Seriously?! In the last 10 years, you have a new state house, new police stations, new schools, new roads, new government buildings, scholarships, zero interest loans for higher education, stadium, bridges, new city plans, new hotels, new hospital plans, clear harbor, new housing, and jobs program… recovery from flooding and hurricanes that would have stayed stagnant if it were freedom or UWP. not to mention tourist ships, waterfront etc etc etc! all in 10 years, we also paid off loans from the IMF which is a predator on third world governments. Training for so! Scholarships for so, two universities and a third one on the way. Even in America they will tell you the government does not provide jobs… its the private sector. Change your government and see how fast the treasury is going to dry up, see how quick they will fire people left and right and hire their friends and family, see how quick they will find way to take money out of everyone’s pocket and leave the infrastructure to fall apart…

The people of Castle Bruce would be making a serious and very fatal mistake to vote the dlp again. Make no joke about it folks another five years of Skerrit would be spelt DEATH! Drigo and DLP have proven to us that they cannot and will not do anything to improve the lives of villagers Baptiste on the other has proved to all that he is a man with a vision, who is able to create employment for other Dominicans as well as villagers. Castle Bruce should be proud to have a man in caliber of Isaac Baptist as their Parlrep. Open you eyes folks, this is a very important election and we cannot take it lightly. Skerrit, the DLP and Drigo continue to promise handout that will NEVER be foundation for your children and grand children; Isaac Baptist and the UWP promising jobs and opportunities that will not only take care of us today, but will help us lay a foundation for our children and grand children. Despite all what Skerrit is giving and offering today, let us not forget the last five years of hardship we just experienced under Skerrit and Drigo, and let us not allow that to happen again. Let’s vote them out and give our beautiful country a Christmas gift on December 8, 2014.

Like I said before, there is old style Dominican politics and there is politics geared towards life in the 21st century. Dominican’s economy can grow, in fact it can outperform that of most Caribbean countries. The right decision makers is what will make the difference. Choose wisely my people.

When one listens to both sides of the Political Debate here in Dominica, it is quite clear that the United Workers Party has the edge. It appears that the DLP’s Campaign is about “Concert Politics” rather than true debate and focusing on the issues that has been plaguing Dominica for the last 15 years or so.
Passing through the Kalinago Territory last night and seeing the thousands gathered for a free concert, with exquisitely designed cut red t-shirts, bells, whistles, horns and balloons it is hard to discern whether anyone was truly attending a political event. It was clear to see that the DLP event was closer to the World Creole Music Festival than an informative and educational political rally. Especially given the amount of alcohol being consumed before even entering the event.
The fact that the monies being spent on this particular event is tantamount to a slap in the face of the Kalinago people, given the condition of the roads that one has to traverse throughout the territory, seemed not to resonate or matter to any of the pumped-up concert patrons. I wonder what Karime thought of the roads as they dodged the many pot-holes on the way in and avoided the high-beams of other vehicles in their eyes on the narrow road. Did they wonder why all this money was not being put to better use????? Food for thought Dominica 8-O 8-O 8-O

I agree with observations made in this post.
This election is not just about who wins and who loses. It is really about the will and the capacity of Dominican voters to demonstrate that they are not merely yard fowls but educated and responsible citizens who will not be bought with entertainment and other material trinkets. Accepting material objects as a substitute for intelligent decision making that could impact lives for generations to come is not only stupid but could also be viewed as dereliction of duty as responsible citizens.
Those who are so stupid as to trust the country’s future to a criminal gang do not deserve to be called patriots.

Why do you think that your comment is food for thought. You have displayed such a mistrust in your ability see things by ignoring facts. I wonder when The UWP had their “Concert for Change“ at the Harlem plaza if that was not “Concert Politics“. As to your comment about the roads, why can you not be honest and recognized that this Government has done more than any Government in our history in rebuilding and upgrading our road net work within the last five years. You know there is a saying you are what you eat..

I must say that I am very impressed with the credentials of this candidate. In fact the entire UWP team gives me comfort that they will be extremely effective in governing where the Skerrit regime has fallen short.
If the UWP team falls short in their effort to take over the reigns of power it will not be cause they lack the technical and administrative skills to deliver on their promise; it will only because voters err in not correctly assessing the danger of electing to a fourth term a party leader who is a fundamentally flawed and corrupt leader who has somehow led many to believe in his magical powers at a time when the economy is in is death throes and the current leadership are making out like bandits accountable to no one. This must change.
