On Sunday the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) held a gospel concert as part of its campaign for the general election.

The concert featured gospel artiste Tasha Cobbs and other Dominican gospel singers.

UWP so called leaders and supporters need to take a back seat. you all claim that there is no money in the country because of the labour administration and as such you all think you all can fix it up if you were to form the Government. it is obvious that you all do not have money to even run a campaign much more to run a country. you all promised to severe ties with all the international countries from which the labour party is getting grants, loans and other assistance. so tell us where and how you all would source funding to run the country? i guess you all plan is to ask Dominicans to make more sacrifices. linton i suggest that you and your supporters remain in the yard and be satisfied with just that because you all are yet to convince the masses that you all got what it takes to run the country.

That’s not true. UWP did not say that they would continue with China. The monies for campaigns are either gotten through sale of passports and from inflated grant requests. E.g a project in Dominica costs 10 million, the Gov’t makes the a request for 15 million. The 5 they pocket for campaign. And remember nothing is for free (economics 101). You scratch my back i scratch yours.

Labor supporters brought in a gospel artist to sing about Change, they say BRAKE EVERY CHAIN , so that tells me they are crying out for help they want to be set free they want to be lifted out from under the chain so they are crying out for help.
Help is on the way and you will fee by Team Dominica UWP.

Sakwe sort, take a closer look around you. With so much money you claim to know about (1) why can’t public servants get a raise in salary (2) why aren’t the farmers taken better care of (3) why is it so difficult to get even paracetamol in the hospital? Need I continue?

Many are called but few are chosen. In Christ days they said give us Barabas. The prime minister is not a Christian. If he was, we can agree to disagree, but he should bring people together not divide them. He is always signing something. Only God know who Dominica belong to.

We are being deceived everywhere. At the Dominica celebration in New York on Sunday November 9 being steered by DADA, the master of ceremony said Vince Henderson was going to be late, while we waited, no Vince. They know he is in Dominica campaigning. There were some many none Dominicans there and wondering with such a big program why there were no representative in Government there. Eventually they gave an old ambassador to give a speech and again, it was political. Not even Mrs Daily was there.

Lord we need you more than ever before. We don’t know where we are heading with this Government. Clearly they are
not Godly people. Wolves in sheep clothing.

Many are called, but few are chosen. Humans from the beginning of time like darkness rather than light. The prime minister is not Godly. If he was as a leader of a county, he would obey the laws of the land and bring people together.
In the Bible they say give them Barabas and crucify Jesus Christ. Every time you turn, the Prime Minister is signing something. Only God know who Dominica really belong too.

Vince Henderson was on the program at the DADA celebration in the Bronx New York on Sunday November 9, and he never showed up. The Master of ceremony told us that he is running late. She lied, because she know well Vince in in Dominica politicking. Who can we trust. Not even Mrs Daily was there and there were so many people. These people are corrupt and liars from head to toe.

Dominica, my Dominica, it is so sad to see how we are represented in Dominica and in New York. We all have to Die and leave u behind. What are we FIGHTING for. Lord we need you more than ever before.

Gospel concert when in truth way of life is not in line with Gospel values….
Corruption not in de gospels. Goood thing they had de gospel concert when Jesus drove out money lenders n hypocrites out of de temple….
God is not mocked……. Righteousness exults a nation..
Breaking chains, God need to rid Dominica of dis present red chain…. God is working, using them to cleanse de country..

Gospel Concert? A I see is a form of Godliness and denying the power of God. Labour Party is doing their utmost best to deceive Dominicans. It is not every one who says Lord ,Lord that will enter into his Kingdom. In Book of Acts simon the sorcerer ask that he be given the Holy Spirit for the sole reason to have more power to do more sorcery. there is no doubt now that this election is not only a political battle but a spiritual one also between the forces of light and darkness. Between the scarlet red of the Dragon and the Blue of Heaven

This whole political landscape in Dominica has evolved into a color war very much like the Crips and Bloods of California, USA! It seems like for most people, issues, ideas, philosophies, ideologies, principles and character are irrelevant. It’s simply an “us against them” mentality. A red against blue gang war where the best interest of Dominica hangs in the balance.
This is not a one-sided mentality, but a permeating mindset perpetuated by both sides of the political spectrum. Dominica is indeed polarized, separated, divided and marginalized by color. Dominica at this time seems hopeless at achieving the true benefits and ideals of democracy. Color based politics creates gang mentality. Instead of gravitating to ideas and solutions people just “affiliate” according to color.
The gangs in California would fit in perfectly right now. They would see Dominica as their haven where mostly ALL citizens are “affiliated” with one color or another. Bloods are red, Crips are blue! The rest of the Democratic world laughs at Dominica and the state of her politics. Do not for one second believe that we are not being watched.
Our Island Home is now so comfortably in bed with Communist countries, it is simply idiotic to believe that the larger democratic world is not paying attention…stay tuned…

    November 10, 2014

I have participated in six elections before and voted dlp every single time including last election. With less than a month before the next election only last night I made up my mind to vote and who to vote. First of all, let me say that I know Mr. Skerrit in a personal way and he is a very likeable person and politician. On the other hand, I do not know Mr. Linton. I have seen him but never got engaged in a conversation because to me he always looks serious and unfriendly and that’s what made my decision so difficult. Having seen what Mr. Skerrit had to offer in his 15 yrs in office, I must confess that he did not do much to better the lives of the people and the nation. I quite frankly hate the direction Dominica is heading in and I see much trouble ahead if he wins the election. I don’t like Mr. Linton and UWP, but I will take a chance this time in the interest of Dominica, and vote UWP simply because I believe this election might very well be about ‘a stitch in time’ to save Dominica. Based on what is happening on the outside it looks very much that I will lose my vote, but I prefer to lose in an attempt to save DA than to win my vote and lose Dominica. Fellow laborites, our country is going in the wrong direction and we need to act quickly, less our children curse us tomorrow. If uwp messing around it will be easy to get rid of them; but getting rid of Skerrit will be at a very serious price.

And unto God that which is God’s
But if Caesar try to put his hand in God plan
We ought to obey God rather than man…

How on earth can a Gospel concert, featuring Christian artistes be held in support of a political party? You are declaring your loyalty to Caesar! You are also declaring your hostility to that half of the country that supports the opposition. How are you going to be able to reach them? Why is the Labour Party insisting on using the public roads for such events? There are so many open public lots/parks etc., is there an attraction at these 3 road junctions for DLP?

I’m only asking, cause it seems very strange and impossible to have persons cramped in such narrow spaces when there are so many open places to hold such political events. What is the meaning of tsunami? In the context of DLP it is crushing everything and everyone in its path, the good, the bad and the ugly. So if the Labour Party and its supporters are rejoicing over their tsunami I hope they will also rejoice at the consequences.

This ostentatious display of campaign paraphernailia is obscene and scary, It demonstrates that many Dominicans can be easily swayed and bought by material things which are shortlived but which are being used to blind their senses to ensure that the labour party wins the elections.

People must realise that while so much money is being spent on campaigning, so much is lacking and people are dying at the hospital due to lack of medication, lack of emergency care; civil servants continue to swallow their frustration afraid to voice their concerns for fear of being victimised, The labour party candidates without fail had to pay homage to Skerrit before introducing themselves almost as though this was prescribed – all they did not do was kneel down and bow… what a disgrace that these men and women saw it fit to demean themselves in such a pathetic display of lack of self worth. And they call themselves leaders??

Skerrit’s strategy is to find money just before the elections to pay everybody to vote him back into office. People do not seem to care that they are being blackmailed, bullied, intimidated, exploited, abused, disrespected, devalued, emasculated, Where has pride in self gone?

There is no real conversation about the issues affecting the country which will put it in a development path. No one cares how or where the money is coming from once they get their pound of flesh.

What a country this has become!

Father Father open that red sea..so your people can walk free. In Jesus name . Amen.
If you think about it. Skerrit is like the Pharaoh in the Bible. No power is above him. He insults the laws and the constitution of our beloved island. He is a law unto himself. Our our 21st Century Pharaoh , A rule of terror. Lord I raise this island up to you.
This is an election where God fearing people have to faith hard. Lord let it be your will..to bring down these walls..as you brought down the walls of Jericho bring down those walls that have been built to protect this corrupt government.

@God have mercy, this is no joke my friend. I speak as an honest laborite who can take it no more. If Dominicans don’t put away their partisan politics quickly, we will become like Iraq. When we won the last election 18-3, I celebrated but I was afraid because I did not think we had anyone that could stand up to Skerrit knowing well that Blackmoore and Ambrose are boys. I welcomed Timothy hoping he would be that person but only to find out he was worse than the likes of Matthew, Ambrose, Ian and Austrie. I will take my chance with Lennox because I see men and women around him that will not allow him to dictate to them. I see people like Fountaine, Baptist, Joshua, Isaac, George, Paix Bouche and others that will stand up in defense of DA. We don’t have anyone in the DLP. Lord help us!

      @Rosa Parks,
Though most of your comments are true, you are wrong that religion and politics do not mix! In fact, the bible says that people are to obey the powers that be, because the powers that be are ordained of God”…. Give Caesar what belongs to Caesar references giving Jack his jacket. In contrary to your statement, if all politicians were seeking God’s face and obeying God’s word, the leadership of any country worldwide would not ever have to be questioned… It is therefore a wonderful thing when any leader is one ordained by God or is a Christian…. For proper references, See the bible for the stories of Moses, Joshua, Gideon, Samuel, David and the like. Whether you realize it or not, these were leaders and politicians of their time. It is when politicians move away from God, Satan moves in. Thank you.

    • The Facts
      November 10, 2014

What do you mean religion and politics does not mix? You want to leave God out of it? You must be a non-Christian or a hypocritical Christian.
Politicians whom God created should keep the Holy Spirit of God alive in them, in their country and in their Parliaments.
If Rosa Parks was alive she would chastise you for making such a statement and for using her name. You know Rosa Park’s history and what occurred to her. My advice to you is to cease using this lady’s name. You are using it out of context. She would not be pleased that you use her name in your melee and hatred.

It’s a huge crowd no doubt and the DLP must be feeling good. However, the question is how does the real Jesus feel about this? Does it make Christianity look good in the eyes of the public? As I glance through this crowd, I could see some people that professed to be Christian and I am very disturbed for the following reasons:
    1. What business does a professed gospel band in a political rally? Is that the Father’s business? Or is it to make their money, entertain, and encourage ungodliness that usually accompanies a political rally?
2.While it is true we all have a right to support and vote our party, why should believers allow themselves to be used by politicians? haven’t the church been asked to separated? please see 2 corin. 6:14-17? Do preachers still preach that?
    3. When a gospel group and believers become so deeply involved in partisan politics, how will they tell politicians that it is wrong to commit adultry, wrong to steal, wrong to lie, wrong to be corrupt, wrong to abuse people in any manner, wrong to swear and curse, since these things are so common with politicians?
    4. How does a gospel group and believers feel to know they were part of a political rally and even performed, knowing very well that the nature of that event usually results in more political hatred, tearing one another apart, drunkenness, and many more very ungodly deeds? Would Paul, John, Peter and others attend if they were present?

I expect to get many thumbs down for this but here is what Colossians 3 17 says: ” And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”

So hypocritical. If going to a political rally as a Christian is sin, tell me how about the secret love affairs that we have hidden. Married or not married. How about the 24-7 hours we spend texting and sexing. How about the many things we do at the work place to seduce the opposite sex and thing it’s cool? Reflect upon all the time in a 24hour day, we engage in foolish talk, gossip, talk down, and hurt others by the things we tell them. How many times we are vex with our husbands at home and our boy friends. We shut them down and build walls that separate us for life. And how many times husband is Labour , wife is UWP and we have riot in the house in front of our children. I had rather be (10) times over at a political rally then be guilty of these.

Who is the hater? Look to yourself.
You really do not know God and about him. Learn about him. Your assumptions of him is in need of knowledge and enlightenment.
It is the business of The Father that you not hate and project it on this Website and wherever else you may be. It is the business of The Father that a Gospel concert, singing his praises be presented to the people, whether political or not. God is the God of all.
You are one big hypocrite. So you never committed adultery? I could cite many instances of all sorts of adultery.
Who are you to judge anyone? You are placing yourself above others as if you never committed a sin.
St. Paul said, “Those who think they are not a sinner makes Our Lord Jesus Christ out to be a liar.” Therefore, examine your conscience.
If you get many thumbs down you deserve it. The haters will not give you thumbs down. As for me I am not concerned about that. I know I write the truth and stand up for the truth and this is what I am concerned about..

But has Mr. Roosevelt Skerrit told us why he chose Dec. 8 for the election? Is there an urgent matter that needs immediate attention and with time something might be revealed? Well here is why I believe we will be voting on Dec. 8:
    1. December is the month we celebrate the birth of Jesus according to apostle Matthew. 1:21 “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus…”

    2. The prophet and Agriculture Minister, Matthew Walter introduced us to another jesus

    3. The prophet Matthew Walter was about to make another announcement that involves his jesus, but in interest of the party, they decided to call the elction first.
Enough of the politics lets sing now since we had so much music this weekend. here is the lyrics of a song I love. It’s very long so I will give you the site so u could listen and sing with me. http://www.metrolyrics.com/my-confessions-part-two-lyrics-usher.html

    These are my confessions
Just when I thought I said all I could say
My chick on the side said she got one on the way
    These are my confessions
Man I’m thrown and I dont know what to do
I guess I gotta give part 2 of my confessions
If I’m gonna tell it then I gotta tell it all
Damn near cried when I got that phone call
I’m so throwed and I don’t know what to do
But to give you part 2 of my confessions

Now this gon’ be the hardest thing I think I ever had to do
Got me talkin’ to myself askin’ how I’m gon’ tell you
’bout that chick on part 1 I told ya’ll I was creepin’ with, creepin’ with
Said she’s 3 months pregnant and she’s keepin’ it
The first thing that came to mind was you
Second thing was how do I know if it’s mine and is it true
Third thing was me wishin’ that I never did what I did
How I ain’t ready for no kid and bye bye to our relationship

I wonder how many civil servants were in that crowd celebrating the fact that for the next 3 years they will get no raises and the 5% that was taken away some years ago will not be recouped either…. There is reason to celebrate, if my boss told me I am not getting a raise for the next 3 years… I would celebrate too. Enjoy

It is their business. Not yours. Mind your own business. They know what they are doing. Some of you wanted the government to do this and that and complete this and that. Do not blame the government, if for now it does not have money to pay them. They will get paid. Wait and see.

Tsunami in a relatively narrow street eh. Look gimmicks boy. Packing people up in a relatively narrow street to convey the idea of a big crowd…..

Put 20 people in a park and it will look empty. Now put these same 20 people a small bathroom and take a picture and you go see the difference. Then send that picture to DNO and say your function had plenty people and was bursting at the seams.

Well if dat is wat you calling a tsunami, then how would you describe what happened in the wide Newtown savannah? Like de blue ocean decided to relocate by moving inland on high tide or wha??

@Channel 1 – Good observation. De expansive Castle Bruce playing field is right there where dem fellas could have held their rally but instead they held it in a relatively narrow road….

The Labour party knows it support is dwindling; their own polls told them so. Standby for more of these narrow street conventions/rallies by the Labour Party. First it was the Bayfront, then a relatively narrow street in Castle Bruce. Just now, they might host a rally on the jetty near Fond Cole…
