Leader of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP), prime minister Roosevelt Skerrit, has said that his party will fulfill all promises made in its general election manifesto because the funds have been secured.
“Whatever you have read and seen outlined in our manifesto will be undertaken and be achieved because we have secured the funding for it,” he said at a rally in Bath Estate on Sunday night. “As prime minister and minister of finance I know where every dollar is coming from to implement our manifesto plan of action.”
Skerrit said he wants a “clean sweep” in Roseau.
“In Roseau this evening we are presenting to you four dynamic candidates in the persons of Ambrose George, Alvin Bernard, Dr. John Collin McIntyre and Julius Timothy,” he said. “All four men have served in the cabinet of ministers for the last five years and I have a role in a re-elected government for each of them. I want a clean sweep in Roseau on the night of December 8, 2014.”
He said the general election has serious implications for Dominica.
“This election, ladies and gentlemen, has serious implications for the future of Dominica.” Skerrit said. “Voters in Bath Estate and surrounding communities in Roseau South and Roseau Central I want you to remain focus on the prize.”
In 2015 please allow the PM to organize creol festival he will bring down the artists so tickets will be very cheap and seniors, middle aged youth we all will go by thousands to enjoy ourselves look diaspora in DA.
After election i see poverty to its highest, a dread christmas and hunger where are we heading ?
God help your people.
Dominicans vote wisely and do not sell your vote. The people coming down from abroad to vote with tickets paid for, I hope when you all cannot return Skerrit will look after you all. SHAME SHAME!!!!! Dominica deserve better. God help Dominina. Shame on the religious leaders to encourage the things that are happening, I am a catholic but this is a disgrace. People stay home and pray instead .Alas
Lennox was campaigning overseas to make Diaspora come down to vote for UWP. UWP turning all you minds from their Sins while all you mind DLP Business. Politricks they call it.
I don’t understand why people have to go and beg for a few dollars, what happen to the welfare system?what happen to applying for assistance if you are in need.why is one man running the country SOLO.he controls every thing, and from what I read he helps only the ones that vote for him. How can he be the pm of part of the country, everyone don’t like my president but he is the president of ALL the people, why are things so backward, teach them to fish, that’s what JESUS did to the disciples. He never gave handout, by the sweat of your brow.Dominica go back to work, find out what you can do to live your mark upon the earth, that you been there, not as beggars but as a GOD fearing people.
He might have not completed everything on the 2009 manifesto but he did enough to win him another five ( even ten ) years. Rome was not built in a day and our country is making significant progress.
where is the progress being made. show me one achievement that has resulted in sustainable jobs over the past 5 years. All that debt we are accumulating, what is it being used for. Agriculture in the dumps, manufacturing in the toilet. Private sector in limbo, garcon you are dumb, you have no idea about what is going on in our country. We cannot give public service workers a raise for 3 years yet still Skerrit give MP’s a 50% raise. Its ignorant people like you that facilitate DLP to keep us in bondage, handouts. What has labour done for you?
My advice to u all the UWPees,, all the questions u all are asking, it directed to the wrong person, cause at Calibishie I didn’t hear any plan from your leaders. All I heard was bashing on members of dlp . That’s how u are spending ur time since u lost the election in 2000. In Calibishie , it was a canival on the street not to tell me the plans u all have for my country. U all to dam wicked, let the DLP finish the good work.
De man promising to keep his promises.. Lol. Sounds like desperation and madness to me. A promise is a comfort to a fool.. Fool! (who the cap fit, let them wear it.)
Annpn is the information you put going to be part of the UWP manifesto.
We voting TEAM Dominica come December 8th change is a must
de whole of grandbay posse and anse de mai/bense there…
DLP are just wasting money creating a manifesto, because for 15 years they have failed to produce one item from their manifesto. They always come up with that manifesto hogwash to fool the people.. People a manifesto is not performance so wizen up! Don’t be fooled again for the next 5 years by a manifesto that is never fulfilled. See how they are laughing at you all?
Take heed and be smart.
Skeroooo u doing some wrong but still love u ,,but please don’t. Spend money anymore for singer
If PM is so confident that he is going to win….Why bring down the big artists…why is he going to give all school children tablets….Stop bribe people…. Why scare the people of Wesley telling them about blood will fall on them…. Are you threatening them….why are you saying if you lose riot in Roseau…. You don’t want to lose cause you know your business will come out…Tired fool people…
1.”Begging culture” that’s what I see our culture as. Those who go to the red clinic, Do you all want to continue going in a line for 8 hours? I sure you all would prefer an eight hour job….getting a salary at the end of the month. Are you all blind? Can’t you all see?
2. Youths.. at the end of the NEP can you tell me where you all stand in terms of being employed? Thousands leave college every year please tell me if the public sector or private sector is going to hire them…there are no vacancies.
3. We have so many natural resources… we are blessed with fruits and vegetables..Please tell me why there are no factories to make use of these resources to generate income. Don’t you all think that factories should have been built in order to generate income, than the multi million state house which generates no income…
4. For three months now public works staff haven’t been paid… tell me the thousands of dollars that are being paid to the various artists that are brought down for campaign…why can’t he use this money to pay them..
I guess Dominicans like to beg as I say our culture is one of begging…..we rather beg than be independent….
It is election time. Hold your horses which are out of place at this time. Leave the campaigning for the politicians.
I’m not in agreement with the Public work workers being unpaid for such a long period, this is unacceptable. However from my limited experience in government accounting the government cannot move funds from one project to another. For example, when the budget is done all projects are appropriated funds if one project is mismanaged and went over budget the government cannot simple transfer the funds to subsidize this project. I know this seems like the logical thing to do but unfortunately that is how government accounting works
What else are you promising Skerrit? To denigrate every one and any who dares to speak against you? To ensure that if the UWP wins the blood of Dominicans will be on the conscience of their supporters? To make sure you line your pockets well enough so you never have to work a day in your life again? To victimize your opponents to ensure that they cannot pay their mortgages? To parade all the senior citizens you give a dollar on GIS?
It appears to me you like suffering and would like to suffer. Pray that you don’t.
In the new term we will see a UWP GOVT. with 10 (TEN) Ministries as apposed to a 15 ministry GOVT under DLP… change is a must…
1. Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Lands, Fisheries, Natural Resources and the Environment – Hon. Ron Green
2. Ministry of Kalinago Affairs, Gender Affairs, Culture, and Diaspora Affairs – Hon. Claudius Sanford
3. Ministry of Education, Sports, Youth and Human Resource Development – Hon. Ezekiel Bazil
4. Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Industry – Hon. Joseph Isaac
5. Ministry of Physical Planning, Public Works, Community Development, Housing and Settlements – Hon. Isaac Baptiste
6. Ministry of Finance and Energy – Hon. Thompson Fontaine
7. Ministry of Health, Social Services and Social Security – Hon. Eunica Anthony-Victor
8. Ministry of National Security, Ports, Labour and Immigration – Hon. Nicholas George
9. Ministry of Legal Affairs, Information and Telecommunication – Hon. Joshua Francis (AG)
10. Ministry of Foreign Affairs and PM – Hon. Lennox Linton
And for those who will say where is Hector and Monell, and Daniel and Burton and the rest… Parl Secs will need to be assigned!!!!!!!!!!!
Who asked you to name cabinet for uwp? This is just your way to try to sow discord in the minds of others hoping that the voters of St. Joseph and Salisbury will start to react and vote for dlp. But away with your nonsense! You are just trying to sow discord but you will not prevail.
lol, lol, lol.
Yesterday I heard you call all Dominicans your children mr. P.M. How patronizing and presumptuous of you, did you know my mother Sir? I don’t chose you to be my surrogate father, I have my own thank you.
Aa…. d crowd small ehh… wat happen? no intl artist??
The field was muddy so ppl were all on the road
labour power 5 5 5 5 yrs = 20 more yrs for them ok
What about those not fulfilled from last elections?
What you all could not do in 14 years somehow you will magically do it in 5. If D/cans fall for that they are more wicked that you guys.
I pray for the deliverance of my country come Dec. 8. DLP will be laid to rest.
They have the money to do it now.it take years to develop a country a specially a country like DA and the economic state he met it inn it’s not easy
Wooosshhh tax payers money….then say is gift….. The money going France, Trinidad and Jamaica….20 increase in VAT… all you will feel it….
Dominica is surely better off today than it was way back in those days over 14 years ago. Those people are too forgetful and ungrateful. They should be punished for that. We leave them in the hands of God.
our tongue is a weapon it might come back to bite you.
Whatever happened to the days of proper grammar?
You think,lol let’s see Dec,9,lol
Are you blind? well put on yr glasses. All the way with LABOUR PARTY.
Becareful what you say it will come back at you.
Ok Mr prime minister u do well for Dominica let us vote u without any outside voters n prove yourself on a level playing field don’t b afraid
The people of Dominica have heard many promises before. Just a little political fib to win the election. No big thing, every political party does it. Remember, the employment agency. Remember cabinet was suppose to meet the press on a monthly basis. Remember, using the President’s Palace as a tourist attraction. By the way, what has happened to the coffee factory and the abattoir. I rest my case.
what are your plans to create employment for the youth sir
All you will go red clinic every month for monthly allowances…woosshhh..vote for PM
Too often some people blame the government for everything. It is not the government’s fault if they did not complete school and did not bear their share of responsibility.
If they are underage, tell them to be responsible. Remain in school and study so that they will graduate and obtain a good job.
If they left school without graduating, tell them to return to school. As adults, they must also contribute their fair share to Dominica.
Education is the key to success.
Are you really seeking an answer for that or does it just sound nice to say?
sot he sot
they could not achieve the contents of the manifesto in 2000-2005-2010-2015 is now they will achieve stupes man skerit get yor …… out of there my boy! what you tink nor the country is yours?? comout there fada we fedup wit u boss.no job nothing for us young people. all you rich and cutting style on people. comout therr we doe want you there!!!
No de country is OURS. Self help is the best help so start today. all the way with labour party.
woy look at ppl….creole finish labourites bet you gonna have a merry merry christmas
@ In God We Trust, I wonder which God you trust in? Hope you are not referring to god Skerrit, who referred to himself last night as the LION of Judah. By the way, the last time I saw the words “In God we trust” was on a currency that does not even want you to mention God’s name in public.
Someone posted 21 promises that were left unfulfilled from the 2009 DLP Manifesto in response to another related article.
Anonymous November 14, 2014
21 unfulfilled promises from the 2009 manifesto “Taking Dominica to the next level”. “In the new term we will: (1) Complete the Rosalie / Petite Soufriere road; (2) Transform the City of Roseau into the most modern and historic city in the OECS; (3) Adopt a new Agricultural Policy Framework for which a draft has already been prepared; (4) Upgrade the Central Livestock farm at Londonderry as a model for dairy production and processing; (5) Acquire equipment for the newly constructed packing houses to assist in meeting international standards in the export of agricultural products; (6) Construct a modern, state of the art cruise ship berth and entertainment centre, capable of accommodating up to three mega ships at any one time; (7) Construct a Marina Village, Hotel and Shopping Complex in Portsmouth; (8) Pirate Points; (9) Construct the Kalinago segment of the Waitukubuli National Trail through the Territory; (10) Micro hydro plants will be installed at river sites around the island; (11) Wind turbines will be placed along the east coast and the power will be fed into communities nearby as well as into the national grid system; (12) Make significant improvements to the Marigot Hospital emergency services in keeping with the expansion and upgrading of the Melville Hall airport; (13) Complete the building project at the Dominica Grammar School; (14) Embark on a national programme of vocational and technical education to compliment the academic section of the Universal Secondary Education; (15) Construct a Government administration building, bus terminal and sewerage system for
Portsmouth; (16) Enact stiffer penalties for certain crimes e.g.
those involving the use of firearms; (17) Introduce programmes for drug addicts; (18) Amend the Magistrate Code of Procedure to make trails speedier and more effective; (19) Finalise the Diaspora Policy; (20) introduce new rules governing public procurement/contracts and to improve transparency, accountability and efficiency; (21) establish a Citizen’s Complaint’s office to deal with complaints of poor service by Government departments.” 21 reasons to get the picture!!!!!!!
I guess Roosevelt Skerrit really thinks that Dominicans are fools. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on ME!!!! Thank you Mr. Skerrit, but we are just not buying your gimmicks this time. On the 8th of December you SHALL relinquish the Office of Prime Minister and face the consequences of your misdeeds. Did I hear someone say “JAIL TIME”???
ok like the last manifesto?
Lmfao… but skerro the same promises that was in the manifesto of 2000, thats the same promises we are getting for 2015. U promises farmers a boat 14 yrs later no boat. U promise regional markets for agricultural produce 14 yrs later no market. You promise us international air port 14 yrs later no airport. You promise us hospital 14 years later no hospital.
You promised to export our water not a drop of water can be exported, rather u even importing water by the containers. You promised the young people jobs instead you give them 6 months work. You promise an abattoir it like a monument. you promised feeder roads but farmers still passing in bush to get to their farms. And the list goes on and on and on…. Alas papa Bon Dieu help us
UWP. ..when you guys will present mani festo to the Dominican people ,you guys just like to quarrel with eachother ,you guys had 4 years to get yourselfs together now couple days before election you guys decided try come with one, change your slogan instead (change is a must) should be (not ready for change) We need a new party to be form in Dominica next general election, no more uwp after this general election. And if necessary we’ll toss dlp next general election.
What is the point of labour presenting a manifesto that they never get to implement any of its projects.? It was a deliberate decission to bring it out late, that way u labour ppl won’t steal our ideas like u have done in the last year….
OK Skerrit, as I challenged Lennox before when he said UWP was going to win the next election, are you willing to put your job on the line of you do not achieve what is laid out in the DLP manifesto?
Surely if you are so confident in that document, you should be able to say “we will accomplish all the promises we made in the manifesto. If we fail to accomplish them, I will resign before the next election and hand over the leadership of the party to someone else”.
Put your money where your mouth is.
Why do you have to beg so much, PM? If you have done so much in the past 14-15 years you don’t even have to speak a word at all. People will vote you back in because of all those Jobs you have created and all those solid industries you have developed for a good foundation for Dominica to be built on…..
….oh wait…oops…sorry…you never did any of that!
Oh well in that case, keep on begging. Think people staying stupid all the time. lol
I hAve a bill board for them; I have a place for them; I this I that. What a narcissistic character.
Dominicans aren’t we tired of this character
Mr. P.M tell us about Big bang! another failed project that you supported.
Those people in red must be living outside of Dominica?? After fifteeen years of failed policies in every thing DLP put its hands on, how can you people still go out there and put your hands up for these guys?
I am so happy that the winds of change is sweeping all over Dominica.
The winds of change will blow on all haters, liars and it will change yr minds so you will vote according to to yr conscience
bat cow toujou! You will get a swift sweep out of government all right. Change Is A Must!
Assertive, NOT Aggressive!
Blaahh Blaahh Blaahh was all I heard from the DLP party members who went on the podium. So many empty promises that even some of the poto-laborites were turned off.
I am sick and tired of being sick and tired of listening to the same load of gabbage from a group of men who have shown total disregard for the people of Dominica.
Roosie, boy you losing it and I am very concerned for you. My friend, I have no doubt in my mind that you are losing the election and even your body language and utterances are confirming this to me. My deep deep, deep concern now is what will become of you? I am calling on your true friends like the chairperson of the Vieill Case village council and other family members to rescue you. They need to try to get you to resign now from politics and use any excuse such as, the Big Bang secret, as your reason for resigning, since Ambrose does not want to resign. and you will not go into an election with him. Roosie, there is no way you can overcome the ground work of uwp this time
‘He said the general election has serious implications for Dominica.’ That is the thing and time I agree with Skerrit.
Too little too late. You had 15 years to fulfill the promises you have in this manifesto but have not completed 20%. So we will not trust you any more. We will put another Team to have the chnaces you had to develop Dominica.
