Sam Martin endorses Ian Pinard

The Dominica Labour Party (DLP) hierarchy has not publicly commented on it, but it is clear that Ian Pinard will be the next DLP candidate for the Soufriere/Scottshead/Gillion/Pointe Michel constituency.

As a matter of fact, current MP, Sam Martin has for the first time publicly endorsed Pinard.

“I have no doubt that come the next general election that Mr. Ian Pinard will be returned as our parliamentary representative,” he said at the commissioning of the Pointe Michel Sea Defense Wall and Road Reinstatement Project and the handing over of four vending stalls in Hollywood, Pointe Michel last Friday.

For the 2009 general election, Pinard gave way to Martin to contest the constituency due to “health reasons.”

In March this year reports surface that Pinard was endorsed to contest the constituency by DLP supporters.

According to the reports there has been growing discontent among DLP supporters over Martin’s ‘non performance’ as a parliamentary representative.

Pinard himself later confirmed he was endorsed as the DLP candidate.

“I have been endorsed as the candidate for the DLP in that constituency … I had stepped out because of health reasons but now I am fine and in good health,” he told DNO in April.

Back then when DNO contacted Martin on the matter, he shied away from questions.

“I am not aware of what you are speaking about…is that so?,” he responded. “Hmmmm.”

When pressed further Martin said, “I have nothing else to report to you.”

Martin did not appear on stage at the DLP’s mass rally in St. Joseph on May 5 to give an update on his constituency and no reasons were given for his non appearance.

Pinard took the stage instead.

At the Pointe Michel function Martin said Pinard continued working in the constituency even after he was no longer the MP.

“While I was down with my illness we needed a presence and he was there and he stood by the project that is why we are here today,” Martin said.

    SOUFRIERE OFFSPRING………………..

I don’t know any of these people running for office, I do know what Soufriere needs:
Adult Education, Community Health Center, a Fish Market,
a Library and a Park so the children can read and play.

its just my opinion.. it seems to get votes is through individuals receiving personal help, apart from that if one had to ask themselves what has the government done for the constituency to deserve their votes , what would the answer be? the soufiere/scottshead/ point kitcheal sea defense wall…. some road projects… and it seems apart from that they are content, it must be lack of knowledge of governance thats why we suffer.. no wonder when the people who knows better says this is not enough, its govenment duties to do such things, that the p.m said they are ungreatful, they got sea defence wall yet they still complain.. oh please… soufriere and scottshead is such a beautiful place and it can be so much more.why settle for so little.. some idea might help in soufriere.. how about enhancing the hotwater spring.. put few lights. its too dark at nights.. open up the sheds.. eats and drinks available.. have activity on weeks ends up there..thats employment for young people.. how about developing the fishries complex with upstairs and downstairs.. part of upstairs could be used as an office for tourist information and its own sea and land tours (providing tour boats), thats employment.. also how about a public convenience in that same area even up stairs..would be so convenient when activities are taking place… fix the secondary road leading to the health center and village council.. in scottshead why not make use of the school, 1,sowing clases, wood work, electrical, plumbing classes…. education on fishing etc,.. 2. thers alot of talented young boys thats good at singing etc, open a musical class thats well equipped with studio, music is big busiess, its a start into big life for then fellars….. and theres so much more that can be done in this constituency… why settle for soo little, just an opinion

Fact not fiction. True not false. No longer an allegation. Evidence to show. Petro Caribe owes Venezuela in the region of $64, 000,000.00? Gov’t cannot deny that truth. Pinard cannot say is not true. But who is the Manager, nuh?

Venezuela loose patience waiting for that huge debt to be paid. Venezuela Notified Gov’t and bosses of Petro Caribe about that debt and payments on many occasions.. What happen to that money? Where did it go? Who should be accountable to the people?

And the groveling goes on. Hand-outs a plenty. Enslaved again and again and again. Men and women in this Nature Isle being bought, fooled, bambozelled for a few dollars more.

While the majority reel in poverty, and their standards of living plummet, the few bath in wealth and more wealth and more wealth. They believe they are rich enough to even buy a constituency with their $$$$$$$$ and hand-outs. Massa day ain’t done.

Massa’s chains are tightening around the minds. Every other part of your body under their control. Enslaved again by, and with $$$$$$$$$$$$$ and trickeries.

.. and what about de Rosalie to Ptte Soufriere link Road?

We also learn That petrocaribe is a laundry service specializing in money cleanliness.

Well as far as I know Mr. martin was booted out because of his extremely poor performance and disappointment from his very own people including his family.
Can you remember the statement from the PM last year or earlier this year at a delegate conference? ” Is not every Parl Rep. that will automatically be a candidate in the next general election. Because there are Parl Rep who have / has fail the people.” Take note the Pm quote may not be exactly word to word but very similar line. I was told by one hard working individual of the miss opportunities by our Parl Rep. It is a shame for one who is Representing people in such a high office behave that way. Therefore this was an indorsement of shame. I wonder what he got a payment for making such comments and if so what was the payment.

I remember the advice of an old-time manager who said. If your people don’t perform, don’t blame them but look first at yourself because you are the one who put them there in the first place. Good advice.

Sam, you rolling over so easily? I’m disappointed man. All the time you were happy just to be night watchman and keep the seat warm for Ian? That says little about showing respect for your constituents Sam. Are they like sheep that will follow the shepherd, never mind who it is? Just can’t believe that

Our constituency is on life support with these two guys. They don’t know what they are about. One time Tom , one Harry. They don’t have a clue what the constituency deserves of them. That’s a clear indication of incompetence. The ultimate choice is Higgs. More vision, more commitment to the constituency.

You mentioning Tom & Harry Dominitjie. but you leaving out Dick, you know ,the big Dick. Tom & Harry nothing without the big Dick you know. Big Dick in charge of Tom & Harry and they don’t move till big Dick tells them. He even telling them when they can breathe and when they can not breathe and he telling them that is a democratic decision. That is what I call a team brother, tout ensam and one deciding for all, especially Tom & Harry.

I cannot sit by and look at this Government do just what they want with this constituency.
Ian Pinnard to me is strong in giving people just handouts and as such the people fall for it. During the st.Joe rally money went “like hot bread”. The vulnerable fell for it. Honestly what has Ian and Sam done for this constituency besides sharing tax payers money to supporters? The Scotts head community is blessed with so many fishermen and good cricketers why did’nt he not build a fishing complex and improve the playing field in Soufriere? Pointe Michel is blessed with so many football talents why did’nt he not improve the playing field? You people in the south need to wake up and vote them out! The Kone Kon La a major activity in the south. Why did’nt those guys improve on this activity to create employment for the fishermen in the south? what a waste! vote them out!

Mr. Martin, I have dialogued with you. You’re a cool individual, but it doesn’t mean, you’re politically savvy. I’m not saying you’re not, but you have been used by the DLP. The leader Mr. Skerrit has treated you with disrespect. We hear many things via the grapevine, and it saddens me the things I have heard. From the backstabbing that you received from the very One, who ‘pushed’ you into this political business. I’m hoping that you can go back into your personal life, and won’t have to deal with being in the public eye. Mr Pinard though cool and seemingly politically savvy, I have definitely lost respect for this ‘gentle’ man.

Mr. Pinard steam rolled his way back to ‘power’. With little or no regard for Mr. Martin. Aided and pushed by the One, Yes the very ONE, that backstabbed Mr. Martin, after forcing him into public life.

Mr. Martin, I know it is hard to do publicly, but if I was in your position. I’d secretly campaign for Mr. Hidges Adams, not by speaking out loud, but by passing on ‘info’. Fact is Mr. Pinard don’t deserve to be the Parl Rep, Mr Pinard is now coming to take all your hard work. Mr. Martin you increased the votes for labour by hundreds over Mr. Pinard, yet he pushes you aside.

I wish you the best, and hope you vote U.W.P, rally your family and close friends to vote Higdes Adams.

From what I have read it would appear that the labor party is recycling sick patients Russian Style as Parliamentary representatives in the Soufriere constituency .The People of that constituency deserves better and healthy representation. Change is a MUST and not an Option . Vote UWP/ TEAM Dominica for progress and development. Remember it was the UWP in Government which started the Point Mitchel Sea Defense Project and Road Rehabilitation.

Men bet men pwel. Nothing is done unless skeritt says so. We are not all gullible. The members were rendered ineffective by an insecure prime minister. He was the same pm who went to Barbados behind Pierre Charles back and to set up dealings with Chinese. To prevent the same from happening he is running an authoritarian style party where everything goes through him. Why else would a party with an 18 seat majority be replacing people who have won their seats after on term. This tells of internal discord.
These ministers who are giving up there seats need to come clean and be patriotic and let people know why they really do not want to serve them anymore. Getting elected to serve in parliament is a previlage not a right and after citizens give you there vote you should be honest to the reasons you no longer want to represent them. There is more than what is seen. Its not just one member of the ruling party. Dominicans need to wise up and let skeritt know who holds the power.
Giving the catholic church 500 k and claiming it was God who told you to do that tells me a lot.
It is time for skeritt to go and I do not know how else to express that.

Is Sam telling the constituency of Pointe Michelle that he did such a terible job as their parliamentary representative over the last five years, he has to give way to Pinard. This is a shame. The people of the contituency must be very angry because the man ate up five years of salaries. Apart from the sea defense wall, it appears, all they will be getting from him is a goodbye.

    My Fellow Constituents

Please, please, please think very carefully before you cast your vote!

The St Mark constituency needs a change. We need to concentrate on who and what will drive the development of our constituency. And it is for that reason I am begging you please do not reelect a labour parliamentary representative.

Forget about the empty promises and vote for a dynamic and “can do” representative.

I pray that you will do the right thing at election time.

I would be happy to retract imy comment if you could tell me what Labour has done to develop Soufriere during their numerous years of power!

Stop anticipating your bit of plywood and Courts voucher and start focusing on the development of Soufriere.
