Social programmes safe with UWP – Prevost

Prevost is assuring elders that social programmes will be improved with the UWP
Prevost is assuring elders that social programmes will be improved with the UWP

All social programmes in Dominica will remain unchanged under a United Workers Party (UWP) government, according to MP for Roseau, Norris Prevost.

Addressing a rally to close the observation of the Month of the Elderly, outside the Windsor Park Stadium on Sunday, Prevost assured those present that their social benefits will be safe and sound under a UWP Team Dominica government.

“UWP will continue all the social programmes and improve on the benefits they are presently getting,” he said. “First of all, I want to ask all of you to feel comfortable, and enjoy whatever Social benefits you are presently getting from government. Whatever benefits you are getting now, whether yes we care, whether old age pension, whether free hospital care, housing allowance of cost of living allowance, you will continue to get it under the new UWP Government. In fact, as the UWP creates jobs in the Economy, and improves the Economy, UWP government will improve the Social benefits to the Elders, the children, the youth and that are in need.”

Prevost, as a mark of respect for the elders, asked that everyone at the rally for their blessings on the President, Prime Minister, Speaker of the House, Leader of the Opposition, Leader of UWP Team Dominica, and all candidates for Parliament in the coming elections.

“Let us thank God for the blessings he has bestowed on you our elders, throughout your lives, and let us continue to live our lives uprightly, in righteousness and with the highest integrity,” he said. “I assure you our elders, and you can take my word for it, your benefits will be safe and sound with the United Worker Party Government.”

That must be a big surprise for the UWP supporters. That their inovated team will not offer something new, but will piggy back on what skeritt is already doing. Thats a good sign of eating your know vomit.

Prevost was booed by the Elders while he was playing politics at the people’s function. This makes it the second time he was booed at the new Stadium. The first time was at the function to open the facility. I am looking forward to the third time. It will happen soon.

Is Mr. Prevost speaking out of turn. Mr. Prevost had the opportunity to signal his party’s support for the social programs he is now talking about during the last budget debate. Rather than stay around and associate himself and his party with the budget, Mr. Prevost heeded his leader’s advice and walked out and stayed out of parliament. He did not want to say how much he supported the social programs and then voted for it. He walked out so as not to associate with the budget. Two months later Mr. Prevost is singing a different song. The writing is on the wall Mr. Prevost. No matter how sanctimonyous you may appear and or talk, how freely you mix with people, or how your appearances deceive, the time for change in your party has long gown. workers.

But his leader said that the money for the social protection programmes offered by the DLP government will be diverted to agriculture. How come they all have their own individual plans? Signs of a party with no clear vision and direction.

The programs themselves are not the problem- it’s how they are being administered right now. The UWP will keep the programs in place but we will manage them a whole lot better. No more of this red clinic nonsense. .we will re empower our Welfare department and put necessary checks and balances in place so that the needy people benefit and not the greedy people.

There is a big difference between the Skerrit lead DLP handouts for political reasons and the UWP`s professional services designed to help all those in need and vulnerable. These people must not be taken for granted.
      These services will be improved

Why do you always make a fool of yourself. Isn’t it you and your party who has viciously attack the social programs and label the young women who are depending on the programs to feed their family PROSTUTES. In your own senile way, after asking the government to help with the renovation of the Roseau Cathedral you and your people bashed the bishop. Do you have all your marbles in place. How can you say, the programs that the LP implemented will be left in place. You have called the aged and needy people greedy. Are you for REAL! I think there is a Doc within your circle, not a medical Doc, you need to be examined by the Doc within your circle. Please go in peace because you have lost it.

Views expressed, it is typical of the UWP to disguise themselves and jump up for damage control. You people become defensive and cynical with the people who criticize Mr. Provost’s statement. The difference is! Don’t insult our intelligence, rather correct the message that was sent out. Of course anybody can improve anything that is existing or already in place.

Mr Prevost is a real states man. What a contrast to the guys who are currently serving as government ministers.
Can you imagine Roosevelt and company offering prayers for the opposition.
I really wish that at least 10% of our politicians had the smarts, humility and character of Prevost.
