Delize Paul gets her second stint as a college basketball player in the US

Young Dominican basketballer, Delize Paul, has gotten her second stint as a college basketball player in the US.

According to Former President of The Dominica Amateur Basketball (DABA), Mickey Joseph, Paul worked “hard to get the opportunity to play basketball at the Midwestern State University (MSU) in Texas.”

“Ms Paul who had the previous opportunity of playing at Western Oklahoma State for 2 years, came back to Dominica but she never gave up her dream to compete at that level again,” Joseph states.

The chance came when Paul was given the opportunity to attend MSU under the government program and immediately approached the basketball coach to try as a walk on.
Joseph says she impressed the coach sufficiently to prompt him to seek out her history to meet the regulations of NCCA.
“She requested information from me (coach) and a record of her playing activities apart from college. Regrettably her days playing for the Dominica National Women team in Antigua was an obstacle,” but with “dedication and a don’t give up attitude, that obstacle was overcome….she had to be red shirted (not play) for a year but was allowed to practice with team and be a member,” Joseph points out.
Dominica can now boast of another player at NCCA level and this can serve as an inspiration to all young women that it’s never to late to try never mind the difficulties that they encounter, according to the former DABA official.
