Protesters clash with police in Venezuela as the economic and political crisis deepens

In light of the economic situation in Venezuela the St Lucian government, through the Ministry of Education, has decided to return 22 medical students home.

Permanent Secretary, Esther Brathwaite said that the welfare of students is a top priority of St Lucia and it was, therefore, imperative that the students be returned home.

Brathwaite said in a press statement on Thursday that the students will be allowed to continue their studies, as alternative arrangements are being put in place.

“Once the students satisfy the matriculation requirements of an accredited university, the students will be able to pursue higher education,” she stated.

Did GIS announce it? Did DBS, Kairi FM or Vibes? If it really happened, and to my mind nobody has officially confirmed it, it would have been done very quietly, perhaps with the students sworn to secrecy, because it would confirm that despite all its claims and rhetoric our government does realize that things are not well in Venezuela and our young people are at risk in that country.

Can the resident Venezuelan Ambassador please comment on this issue. Things appear to be spinning out of control in Venezuela. Any news on our precious citizens that are over there? I guess our SSU are already over there protecting them since they are also vulnerable. 8)
