7.0 earthquake hits Haiti sparking tsunami watch

(CNN) — A major earthquake struck just off the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince on Tuesday, sparking a tsunami watch for parts of the Caribbean, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Raymond Joseph, Haiti’s ambassador to the United States, told CNN he had little information about the extent of damage from the quake, which had a reported magnitude of 7.0. But he said the suffering inflicted on the impoverished Caribbean nation was likely to be “catastrophic.”

“The only thing I can do now is pray and hope for the best,” he said.

This is the time we need to stand together and lend a helping hand and pray with and for one another. God will not turn you away when you look for him, and when you knock he will answer the door. Haiti I pray that yall may come closer to god and seek his guidence and i pray that your losses be filled with god ,for god is going to help those who truthfully believe and want his help: love you with the love of god AMEN.

This is a very very sad event. We need to pray for the Haiti. But pray that in all this they get closer to God. Let us remember that the Bible says that there will be earthquakes in the end days. So we as a people need to draw closer to the Almighty Fahter.

What is really sad however are the Dominican’s who are wishing that it was Dominica. That to me is even sader. I was in serious shock when on my way to work i heard someone saying that he should be walking on concrete of falling buildings and hearing people crying for help under his feet. How oh how could a person think this way and what makes him think that he would not be one crying under rumble. Why oh why Dominica do we project such curses on our land. Do we no understand the power of the tongue. Do we not know that the law of attraction is just as real as the law of gravity and the principle of giving. Why don’t we rally together and pray for our county. Why don’t we try speaking positive vibes into our land. Its not just the government who is responsible for what goes on in this land. We the people are just as responsible. If you don’t have anything good to say that will take Dominica into prosperity and higher heights I recommend you shut up.

I pray dear Haiti that you will rise from this situation to a much better standing than you previously were. This is the year of restoration and may The Almighty Father restore all what the cankerworm has stolen from you.

God, King of the universe, is a loving GOD – He is not a GOD of partiality and one who is ready to respond when call upon. I pray today that the hands of my FATHER, the LORD will be stretched over Haiti to release peace, comfort and love upon the people of Haiti. That the hearts of even their worst enemies will be mollified in this time of disaster to offer a helping hand to the people. For you say he that considers the poor, lends to GOD.

Thank you FATHER for your grace abounds – let your grace be over Haiti today FATHER and remove every fear from the hearts of the people and increase their faith in you today. I pray that each and every individual in the land will lift up their eyes unto you – for you do not cast out anyone who call unto you.

Thank you for being a loving GOD, one who is not partial in your ways. What you do for one, you will do for another. Forgive where it is needed Lord, wipe away tears, mend broken hearts, relieve pain, strengthen the weak, lift them off from the dust my LORD, and position them on their feet. You are the one who make rivers in the desserts and roads in the wilderness – nothing is too difficult for you. And I believe that you are working on their behalf – Thank you my FATHER – In the name of JESUS.

Our thoughts are with the Haiti people. Seen pictures of the destruction and news of various international aids organisations who have sent help.

They will help rebuilding, as the Presidential Palace was also damage.

Why is Haiti still so poor when their neighbours are the opposite? Corrupution plays a major part, but the gruadual errosion of the land – destroying forests for charcoal – and hillside for growing of crops is another problem. They need to embrace the land, be gentle on it, and not destroy it.

    Prayers are with them

I am very concerned about Hati. But there were warnings, warnings that we felt here in Dominica, in the north to be exact.
What is most disgusting is to hear the Disaster management say they don’t know the location the tremors are coming from”… BULL S..T!!!!
Are you telling me with all the monitoring equipment they have installed at all Lime exchanges around the island, that by the process of triangulation, you cannot pinpoint the source and location.
    I am not buying it!
    Haiti now, Dominica next!!!

Those people have gone through so much and it just doesn’t seem to end, my thoughts go out to each and every one of them, natural disasters do not discriminate.
BTW, the Mayan calender stopped on December 2012 and people say that there will be major natural disasters heading up to that date. They also say that the poles might shift, whilst scientists are expecting the solar flare cycle at around the same time which could disrupt electrical and electronic stuff, who knows.

Haiti has been subject to two major natural catastrophes in recent times. There are many haitian immigrants resident in Dominica whose families are in need of prayer and support. I do hope that our government and people can lend a hand to them in this time of need for they are helping us in terms of agricultural production, increased revenue through the VAT on their goods and services and in countless ways. So, haitians, do not despair.
