CARICOM heads agree CSME needs improving

Skerrit as he addressed the press last week

CARICOM Chairman Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says there is still room for improvement as it relates to the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME), although he recognised tremendous achievements have been made in the area.

He said when CARICOM heads met in Dominica for the 21st Intersessional Summit the CSME was reviewed and it was agreed that steps need to be undertaken to improve the process.

“It’s a continuous process and we have made tremendous achievements and success so far, but clearly we have a lot of work to do to improve the functioning of the CSME,” he said.

He said heads of government is expected to receive a detailed work plan in that regard.

Under Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit’s inspired leadership Dominica continues to build up to a high point of efficiency and to a higher standard.

Particularly astonishing in my view is how expertly Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit handled Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez some months back.

Dominica has two of the world’s greatest assets:

    – Nature
    – Sovereignty

Hopefully Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit will continue to show patience & tolerance; and continue to preserve Dominica’s greatest assets.
